Miami Beach Froyo Scene & History

Cocolimon, Source: Yelp

Fro-yo girl here. Miami Beach has a current population of approximately 82,000 and is roughly 7.7 square miles. It is a very popular tourist destination with 5.4 million overnight visitors in 2024. The main neighborhoods are South Beach, Mid Beach, and North Beach.

I found four places to get froyo in Miami Beach. They opened between 2024 – 2026, and three of the four are counter-serve. I also found 13 closed froyo businesses, including 16 Handles, Red Mango, Pinkberry (2), and Yogen Fruz. Most of the closed shops were self-serve. Many were short-lived (open for two years or less). Mimi Frozen Yogurt survived the longest; it was open for eight years.

CURRENT PLACES FOR FROYO

  • MYKA Greek Frozen Yogurt, 551 Lincoln Rd #5, founded in Madrid, Spain, opened its first US shop in Miami Beach on December 8, 2025. The froyo is counter-serve. It’s made with imported Greek yogurt, pasteurized milk, and goat kefir.
  • Pharos Greek Frozen Yogurt, 110 Washington Ave CU9, shares a space with Sandwich Qbano. It is counter-serve and has a Greek-inspired appearance. Toppings are healthier and include zero sugar spreads. Pharos opened in November 2025.
  • Sunshine Coffee, 1436 Washington Ave, added soft serve in April 2026. The blue soft serve is all-natural Greek yogurt with no sugar.
  • Yummy Frozen Yogurt, 901 N Miami Beach Blvd, is a kosher self-serve froyo shop in North Miami Beach that opened in 2024.

Los Angeles Fruit Kingdom, a Fruit Boutique with Handcrafted Yogurt

Fro-yo girl here. Los Angeles (LA) Fruit Kingdom was founded in 2023 and currently has three branches in Southern California. The shops sell premium quality fruit, including imported and rare varieties.

I visited the shop in San Gabriel. The shop does smell like fresh fruit. I spotted mangos, cherries, grapes, oranges, etc. They can put together a fresh fruit gift basket or box for you. The handwritten signs were mostly in Chinese.

It looks like they added Chinese-style handcrafted yogurt in 2024. They start with milk and then cold brew (strain) the Greek yogurt for 72 hours, resulting in a very thick yogurt that is sold in pots or as filling in fruit sandwiches. You can also get fruit bowls, yogurt bowls, and yogurt smoothies. The fruit is freshly sliced.

Pomelo yogurt drink, $7.99: The yogurt was somewhat grainy/pasty. I find it hard to believe that it didn’t contain sugar or some type of sweetener, because it tasted lightly sweetened. The pomelo pulp was plentiful but dry and sweet without any tang. I’ve had juicier pomelo from shops in the same area. Also, putting the fruit pulp on the bottom vs. blending it in made it difficult to drink since most of the pomelo stayed on the bottom of the cup.

Original yogurt, $7.27, I was told it was no sugar added, but it tasted lightly sweetened again. It was very thick and creamy but still had a pasty quality.

Lingyun Milk Fun has better-tasting Chinese yogurt.

Fruit Kingdom Locations

  • 26 1/2 E Duarte Rd Arcadia
  • 18238 Gale Ave, City of Industry
  • 529 E Valley Blvd #148A, San Gabriel

Miami Froyo Scene & History

Fro-yo girl here. The recent surge of froyo shop openings in Miami warranted both a froyo trip and a look at Miami’s froyo scene and history. I’ll have a separate post focused on Miami Beach. The city of Miami has a population of 487,014, less than I expected, but the Miami Metro area has over 6.4 million residents. I focused on shops in the City of Miami.

I found 15 current places to get froyo in the city of Miami, including four self-serve shops that opened in 2011 – 2012. Eight of the 15 opened in 2015 or later, and four are counter-serve. The trendiest shops right now are actually counter-serve and Greek/European in feel, with healthier toppings. Reduced sugar or sugar-free froyo and toppings were a noticeable trend.

I found 37 closed froyo shops and 1 closed froyo truck, including many large froyo franchises. The number of closures are noted:
  • Menchie’s: 5
  • Pinkberry: 3
  • TCBY: 6
  • Tutti Fruiti: 2
  • Yogen Fruz: 3
  • Yogurbella: 5
  • Yogurtland: 2
  • Yogurtini: 2
  • llaollao: 1

Most closed before 2020, the start of the pandemic. Most were self-serve, including a few of the TCBY locations. There are no remaining branches of Pinkberry, TCBY, or Yogurtland in Miami. Of the 38 closures, 29 (76%) were part of a large franchise.

Pocky Crushed Fruits Yoghurt Line Review

Fro-yo girl here. I found yogurt-flavored Pocky at World Market. Glico Thailand has a line of crushed fruits yoghurt Pocky flavors. The cookie stick is whole wheat and it’s dipped in a fruity yoghurt cream and covered in real bits of fruit.

One box is 38g and priced at $3.99. The box contains one sealed pouch with 14 Pocky sticks. One box is 190 calories.

Blueberry Yoghurt flavor: Be sure to smell these Pocky. They smell like a sweet blueberry perfume. They also taste really great, with little bursts of blueberry flavor coming from the dried blueberry flakes, a tangy yogurt coating, and a crunchy stick. The stick isn’t sweet. The coating is sweet but the tanginess helps offset the sweetness.

Available flavors:

  • Blueberry Yoghurt
  • Strawberry & Peach Yoghurt
  • Passion Fruit Yoghurt

I’d like to try all the flavors.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland x Toy Story 5 Promotion

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland’s summer promotion is a big one. The collaboration with Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 features limited-time froyo flavors, collectible merchandise, new cups, new stickers, and new spoons.

The new froyo flavors:

No Sugar Added Space Ranger Berry Blast froyo is “a cosmic, blueberry blend inspired by Buzz Lightyear.” It’s made with real blueberries and no artificial colors. However, it does contain artificial flavors. While no sugar is added, aspartame is used to sweeten the yogurt. The froyo was thick, smooth, and creamy. I could taste the blueberries though they were muted by the yogurt flavor. It was sweet with no tang but less sweet than usual. There was something a bit artificial about the flavor though. Recommended toppings: blueberries, fruity gummies, and mochi.

No Sugar Added Cowboy Campfire S’mores froyo is “a nostalgic campfire-style flavor inspired by Woody and Jessie.” It is made with artificial flavors and sweetened with aspartame. It tasted less artificial than the Space Ranger Berry Blast, with pleasant mild chocolate and marshmallow notes. It was thick, creamy, and smooth. Recommended toppings: graham crackers, chocolate chips, almonds.

In celebration of Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5, enjoy our new frozen yogurt blend of toasted marshmallow and smooth chocolate with subtle graham cracker notes!

When you swirl the two flavors together, you get Beyond Blueberry S’mores Swirl, inspired by Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear.

The exclusive online-only creation, the Galactic Berry Blast, features No Sugar Added

No Sugar Added Space Ranger Berry Blast frozen yogurt, Blueberries and Beyond (fresh blueberry topping), and Playtime Strawberries (fresh strawberry topping).

I also spotted new Toy Story 5 cups with Buzz, Jessie, Woodie, Forky the spork, and Lilypad. And the Yogurtland Toy Story 5 sticker sheets (free) feature those five characters, Yogurtland spoon, and Yogurtland froyo cups.

And there’s more, including three collectible spoons (featuring Woody, Buzz, and Jessie), a Toy Story 5 keychain giveaway on June 16, June 30, and July 14. And you can find exclusive digital content at yogurtland.com/toystory5.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Salt & Straw’s Starling Sweet Potato Buckwheat Crumble

Fro-yo girl here. This month, Salt & Straw’s The Chef Series features ice cream flavors created with chefs.

The flavors are:

  • Cheesecake with Salted Yuzu Curd
  • Hong Kong Milk Tea with Toasted White Chocolate
  • Chocolate Caramel Smoked Budino
  • Starling Sweet Potato Buckwheat Crumble
  • Caramelized Plantain with Spicy Pecan Crumble (v)

One of these flavors contains the word yogurt in the description.

Starling Sweet Potato Buckwheat Crumble: “From Dan Barber, iconic chef of Blue Hill at Stone Barns and co-founder of Row 7, this flavor celebrates the Starling purple sweet potato, a new Row 7 variety developed for exceptional flavor. This stunningly purple potato is steamed and whipped with sweet cream, sake lees (the slightly boozy, super flavorful byproduct of sake), and yogurty shio koji (a richly creamy rice sauce) into an earthy, almost ube-like ice cream full of fermented richness. We then drizzle in our Starling sweet potato swirl, cooked with a salty miso, before folding in a nutty buckwheat Florentine crumble.”

I don’t think it’s really a frozen yogurt, although it is made with cultured cream. I decided to try it anyway.

Starling Sweet Potato Buckwheat Crumble: The ice cream had a lot of textural components and flavors. It was thick and had a texture and flavor that reminded me mashed sweet potato. There was also an abundant amount of buckwheat crumble. I loved the buckwheat crumble because of the toasty flavor. It also wasn’t as sweet as a cookie. I could taste the sake, so that definitely made the flavor even more unique. The color was a striking purple. Overall, it was a bit too sweet for me, but I did love the crumble and sweet potato flavor.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

New Jeni’s Flavor: Summer Berries & Passion Fruit

Fro-yo girl here. Remember back to when Jeni’s used to be proud of offering frozen yogurt? They were the only ones making buttermilk frozen yogurt (as far as I know). They deemphasized the fact that they make frozen yogurt, and the latest flavor, Summer Berries & Passion Fruit, has yogurt and cultured buttermilk, but it’s called ice cream.

Jeni’s describes the flavor as, “A lush, fragrant blend of raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries folded into cream. Cultured buttermilk and fresh yogurt to boost the berries’ brightness and create an almost bouncy texture. The showstopping finish? A sunny passion fruit curd that adds perfect texture and tropical punch to every bite.”

Summer Berries & Passion Fruit: The color and flavor reminded me of blueberries and cream, with added tang from the yogurt and cultured buttermilk. The passion fruit hits you after (it’s drizzled in rather than blended throughout). The yogurt buttermilk ice cream is quite tangy and quite sweet. I liked it, but I do prefer the even tangier froyo flavors like Rainbow BFY (buttermilk frozen yogurt).

A single scoop is almost $9 now, pre-tax.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s June Featured Flavors

Fro-yo girl here. Happy June, aka, National Frozen Yogurt Month. Menchie’s has two new featured flavors that I just tried.

Strawberry Lemonade sorbet is vegan and made with real strawberries and lemons. It tastes more like strawberry than lemon. It’s pretty sweet. I was looking for something zesty and tart. I also found the taste to be artificial and the texture icy. It is made with no artificial flavors and no artificial colors though.

Sweet Cantaloupe froyo: This was also sweet but it tasted more natural and was less icy. It tasted like cantaloupe but not one note. It had some flavor variations that reminded me of cantaloupe. It’s made with no artificial flavors, no artificial colors and no high fructose corn syrup. Recommended toppings: strawberries, mochi, popping boba.

Menchie’s is also offering a spin on the prize wheel on the app every Monday for Swirl Club members.

The featured flavors are available for a limited time

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Pinkberry’s New Supergirl Galactic Lemonade Flavor

Fro-yo girl here. Pinkberry just dropped its summer froyo flavor, and it’s inspired by the new DC Studios, Warner Bros. Pictures Supergirl movie. The new flavor, Supergirl Galactic Lemonade Frozen Yogurt is tart frozen yogurt that they recommend pairing with strawberries, blueberry popping boba, and gold glitter. The froyo is a light blue color (from butterfly pea flower).

The new Supergirl Galactic Lemonade is an iced lemonade topped with butterfly pea flower tea and dusted with gold glitter.

Supergirl Galactic Lemonade Frozen Yogurt: It’s refreshing, sweet, and tangy. It is quite sweet but the tang helps. The texture is light and icier. I thought it was tasty, but I prefer some of the other Pinkberry lemon flavors, particularly Meyer Lemon. Recommended toppings: strawberries, blueberries, and mochi.

Supergirl Galactic Lemonade Frozen Yogurt and Supergirl Galactic Lemonade are available in participating stores nationwide until July 23, 2026.

You can also enter the Pinkberry x Supergirl Sweepstakes for a chance to win a private screening of Supergirl, Supergirl-themed merchandise, Pinkberry merchandise, and a Pinkberry gift card. For full details and to enter online, visit https://Pinkberry.com/supergirlsweeps now through June 19, 2026.

Menchie’s El Monte Has Closed

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s in El Monte, CA, quietly closed. They didn’t post any messages on social media that I could find, and they closed their Instagram account. It probably closed about a month ago. The location is no longer on the Menchie's website.

I didn’t like the shop because the frozen yogurt texture was often too icy, but they were good about putting out the new flavors. I encountered stale toppings as well. The scanner was broken for over a year, so I couldn't complete the Menchie's app game challenge.

The shop opened in 2016, so it just turned ten. The owners may have decided not to renew the franchise agreement.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Tropical Lifeway Kefir Smoothie Review

Fro-yo girl here. While I was at the new Erewhon in Glendale, I noticed the various signs for smoothies. Most smoothies have bananas and some kind of sweetener…but then I saw the Tropical Lifeway smoothie, which sounded TART.

It’s made with Lifeway organic kefir, organic orange, organic lemon juice, organic pineapple, organic mango, organic mint, organic coconut cream, and organic spirulina. A small is just $12.

Tropical Lifeway Kefir Smoothie: It was thick and surprisingly tart. The pineapple flavor was the most pronounced among the fruits. The fruit flavor combined with the fresh mint flavor was fresh, vibrant, and punchy. The kefir and coconut cream added richness. I'm sure the kefir added sourness too.

The world should have more tart smoothies.

The Tropical Lifeway Kefir smoothie is available at all Erewhon locations until the end of June.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Valley Shepherd Creamery’s Simply Sheep Milk Yogurt Review

Fro-yo girl here. I found Valley Shepherd Creamery’s Simply Sheep Milk Yogurt at Lassen’s in Echo Park (Los Angeles). The yogurt is incubated and sold in clear glass jars. Each jar is 5.3 oz (150 g). Lassen’s was selling Simply Sheep milk yogurt for $2.99/jar.

Valley Shepherd Creamery is located in Long Valley, NJ, and its products are sold at farmers' markets in NJ and NY, as well as specialty retailers. Simply Sheep milk yogurt is made with 100% sheep’s milk with no hormones and no straining. Sheep milk has nearly twice the amount of protein as cow milk, more of the healthy fats, and more vitamins and minerals.

The fruit or flavorings are on the bottom of the jar, rather than blended into the yogurt. The conserve on the bottom is sweetened with cane sugar.

Tahitian Vanilla: The texture of the yogurt is not the same throughout because the fat rises to the top, creating a delicious cream top. The yogurt is naturally rich, creamy, and thick. It had a good amount of tang and a clean flavor with a lingering sweetness. It tasted natural but it did have too much sugar. One serving (150g) is 155 calories with 7.5g total fat, 15g total carbs, 10g total sugars, and 9g protein.

Forest Berry: Loved the cream top. The berry puree on the bottom had seeds and skin. I liked the yogurt, but once again found it to be too sweet. Forest Berry yogurt contains strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries.

Simply Sheep doesn’t have more sugar than the average yogurt, but it does taste sweeter because sheep milk tastes sweeter than cow milk. I’d like to try the plain yogurt.

4 out of 5 stars.

Aiko Garden Fruit Bucket Review

Fro-yo girl here. H Mart in Arcadia had Aiko Garden’s Fruit Bucket ice cream for just $3.99. The mini fruit-shaped ice cream treats have gone viral, and the reviews were positive. However, after trying them, I have to wonder why the reviews were positive. Yes, they are cute, but they taste very artificial.

Each Fruit Bucket is 4.06 fl oz and comes with 12 mini ice creams. The shapes match the ice cream flavors and include green grapes, mango, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, and bananas. The ice cream fruit features a thin white chocolate shell and a filling of fruit-flavored ice cream. One fruit is 10g and about 25 – 30 calories. Artificial flavor is used for every fruit ice cream flavor, along with whey power, milk powder, and various gums.

The white chocolate coating flavor overwhelms the flavor of the ice cream. The chocolate shell was creamy. The ice cream was icy. Here’s how I’d rank each flavor:

  • Mango: this was my favorite, it tasted like mango candy but in a good way, it also seemed a touch creamier.
  • Peach: the peach flavor was faint but pleasant in a fake peach way
  • Banana: I hate bananas, but I didn’t mind this flavor because it tasted more like vanilla than banana.
  • Grape: sweet, tasted like fake grapes but not in a good way
  • Blueberry: artificial but did taste faintly of blueberries
  • Strawberry: the most artificial of the flavors, sadly

Aiko Garden is a Chinese brand. The Fruit Bucket is imported from China.

New Flavor at Yoga-urt: Black Sesame

Fro-yo girl here. Out of the blue, Yoga-urt announced a new flavor, Black Sesame. I’ve loved black sesame for a long time, and the new Yoga-urt flavor did not disappoint. The texture was thick, dense, smooth, and creamy, and the flavor nutty, sweet, and rich. It packed a lot of black sesame flavor; Recommended toppings: mochi. I think black sesame would be amazing with a Yoga-urt gluten-free cone.

It’s organic, gluten-free, and 100% plant-based. Black sesame froyo is available for a limited time only.

Plants & Bowls in Miami Adds Yōva Greek Yogurt Ice Cream

Fro-yo girl here. Sadly, Miami’s Design District isn’t exactly overflowing with frozen yogurt, so when I heard that Plants & Bowls, the clean‑eating concept inside MIA Market, added a Greek yogurt ice cream option, I had to investigate. The stall is known for fresh juices, wellness shots, superfood bowls, salads, smoothies, and wraps — and as of March 2026, it now offers Yōva Greek yogurt ice cream made with 2% milk and no added sugar.

The menu lists “one scoop” for $6, but what you actually receive is a soft‑serve swirl from the machine. Toppings are $1 each, and the selection leans wholesome: fresh fruit, granola, nuts, coconut, chocolate chips, chia seeds, nut butters, agave, honey, maple syrup, date syrup, and sugar-free syrups.

There’s just one froyo flavor: plain.

The texture of the froyo is pleasantly thick — a good start for Greek froyo — but it doesn’t reach the creaminess level of some of Miami’s standout Greek yogurt shops. The bigger issue is the flavor profile. It’s mild to the point of being faint, with very little tang and not much yogurt character. It tastes more like lightly sweetened cream than true Greek yogurt.

That said, I appreciated the lower sweetness. Not every froyo needs to be a sugar bomb.

The toppings didn’t look as appealing as the other Miami froyo shops. However, in terms of value, the portion was larger than average, and the price was reasonable.

Plants & Bowls opened inside MIA Market in 2023. The MIA Market is on the second level. It is a chef-driven food hall.

The Miami Froyo Rankings

Fro-yo girl here. I visited Miami to check out all the new froyo shops and rank them. I had the tart froyo at six shops. Four were dedicated froyo shops and two were not. Here’s my ranking from my most to least liked:

#1) MELI Frozen Yogurt, 210 NE 98th St, Miami (Miami Shores), FL 33138

MELI was my favorite froyo in Miami. They make their own Greek-style froyo with clean ingredients. It’s sweetened with allulose, a naturally occurring sugar found in foods like maple syrup and dried figs. It tastes like sugar but has 90% fewer calories than sugar and doesn’t raise your blood sugar.

During my visit, there were two froyo flavors: tart and cinnamon. Ask for samples. For toppings, they had honey, condensed milk, sauces, nut butters, fresh fruit, jams, toasted coconut, chocolate chips, housemade crunches (baklava, pavlova), housemade granola, crushed pistachios, pistachio kataifi, etc. The toppings labels had information on allergens.

Prices: Small, $6/ Medium $9/ Large parfait with 3 toppings, $12. Regular toppings are $0.75 each. Premium toppings are $1 each.

Small tart froyo with housemade baklava crumble: At 6 oz of froyo, this was the right size – not overwhelming but a good amount of super creamy, super smooth, very thick yogurt that did not melt quickly. I loved that there was a hint of sourness and a good amount of tang. The baklava topping was crunchy but not that sweet. This felt and tasted like premium froyo with a premium topping.

The cinnamon froyo flavor had the same tart yogurt base, I think. It was good and similar to the tart. The cinnamon wasn’t overpowering.

The place is very small but cute with a blue and white theme. There was only one table and three chairs outside, and an upholstered bench near the window.

MELI opened on November 19, 2025.

#2) MYKA Greek Frozen Yogurt, 551 Lincoln Rd #5, Miami Beach, FL 33139

MYKA, founded in Madrid, Spain, opened its first US shop in Miami Beach on December 8, 2025. It had the longest lines and possibly the best toppings (tied with MELI). The froyo is counter-serve. It’s made with imported Greek yogurt, pasteurized milk, and goat kefir.

Available flavors: Natural Greek yogurt, yuzu yogurt, blood peach sorbet

Toppings were kept in blue and white bowls with wood spoons. I spotted coconut flakes, chocolate chips, granola, baklava, crumbles, pistachio kataifi, cacao nibs, honey, olive oil, compote, fresh fruit, etc. It was a bit hard to see all the toppings because of the crowd of people waiting to order.

Prices: Kids with 1 topping, $7.90/ Regular with 2 toppings, $9.90/ Large with 3 toppings, $11.90. A regular takeaway tray with 3 toppings was $20 or $25 for a large takeaway tray. Extra toppings were $1.25 each.

Regular Natural Greek yogurt with berry crumble and baklava: Both the texture and taste were superior. The texture was very creamy and thick. It did not melt quickly. The flavor was a little less sweet than usual, with a distinctive flavor that was like yogurt plus something extra (from the goat kefir?) and a slight sour note. The baklava was crispy but not very sweet. The berry crumbles tasted like a cookie crumble, only berry-flavored and not that sweet.

The interior was white with a woven white fabric above and blue accents. There was no seating inside and no seating set up outside either.

#3) Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, 900 S Miami Ave, Suite 172, Miami (Brickell), FL 33130

VL’s downtown Miami Brickell location opened on March 19, 2026. It was the first VL outside of NY to offer VL froyo. The froyo is made with A2 Bulgarian yogurt and cane sugar.

There were four froyo flavors available:
  • Tart
  • Matcha (non-tart), the best-seller
  • Strawberry (tart)
  • Chocolate (non-tart)
The toppings were displayed on the counter in white bowls. They included fresh fruit, toasted coconut, sprinkles, mochi, nuts, granola, gummy bears, sauces, crumbles, strawberries in syrup, cherries, honey, whipped cream, sauces, etc. They had more toppings than the other shops that I visited.

Prices: Small with 1 topping, $7.95/ Medium with 2 toppings, $9.25/ Large with 3 toppings, $10.25

Tart and Strawberry froyo with fresh strawberries (small): The texture was creamy and smooth, though I found it wasn’t firm enough. Both the tart and strawberry flavors tasted like real yogurt with natural tang. The strawberry flavor had little strawberry flavor, though.

This location is also an ice cream scoop shop with over two dozen flavors, including vegan options. They had basic flavors like vanilla bean, chocolate, and strawberry, but also interesting flavors like Earl Grey tea, key lime pie, and strawberry matcha latte. You could also add a cookie. One scoop was $7.95. I’d much rather have a small froyo with toppings than a scoop of ice cream. You can also pick up a pre-packed pint of ice cream from the freezer.

The shop was spacious with a long yellow tiled counter and yellow wall tiles. They also sell froyo hats and t-shirts.

#4) Tata’s Yogurt Bar, 2992 McFarlane Rd, Miami (Coconut Grove), FL 33133

Tata’s Yogurt Bar is an upscale, stylish Greek froyo shop in Coconut Grove with a European vibe. It’s just steps from the beach. The Greek froyo was developed in-house. It is made with no refined sugar and lightly sweetened with local raw honey. I was told that it was made with four ingredients.

The idea is that you can customize the yogurt, including the sweetness level, to your liking. Add more honey if you prefer a sweeter froyo. The toppings were kept on the counter in white bowls. They carry healthier toppings, including honey, olive oil, fresh fruit, housemade granola, housemade nut butters, toasted coconut, honeycomb, fig preserves, cacao nibs, etc. The pistachio butter is the most popular topping.

In addition to froyo, Tata’s also offers baked goods (made for them) and smoothies.

During my visit, there was one froyo flavor available. They are working on adding new flavors.

Prices: Small, includes one topping, $10; Medium, includes 2 toppings, $12; Large, includes three toppings, $15. Additional toppings are $1 each.

Tart Greek froyo (small) with almond butter on the side: The cup was small but the 6 oz portion felt satisfying. The froyo was smooth and clean-tasting. It was less sweet and mild in tartness. I could taste the honey. It was pleasant but not as flavorful (possibly because it was lightly sweetened). It wasn’t as rich and creamy, but it was thick, firm, and smooth. I liked that it did not melt quickly, and it tasted lighter and healthier. The almond butter was rich and creamy; it might have been sugar-free (I’m not sure). Pharos was more flavorful, but Tata's had better toppings, was cleaner in flavor, and had better texture (firm).

Tata’s opened on February 3, 2026, and is named after the founder’s grandfather. The interior is serene with soft, neutral colors, lots of curves, light wood, and plants. The interior smelled fabulous.

#5) Pharos Greek Frozen Yogurt, 110 Washington Ave CU9, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Pharos is a bit hard to spot as it shares a space with Sandwich Qbano. Look for the counter to the left of the entrance.

There were two froyo flavors available: plain Greek Yogurt and hazelnut.

The toppings were displayed in white and blue ceramic bowls on the counter. The toppings are healthier and include fresh fruit, nuts, granola, coconut, cacao nibs, crumbles, zero sugar spreads, kataifi pistachio crunch, honey, olive oil, matcha powder, etc.

Prices: Small, one topping, $7.99/ Medium, two toppings, $9.99/ Large, 3 toppings, $11.99

Plain Greek Yogurt with chopped pistachios, small: The froyo was smooth, creamy, and had more air than average. It also tasted sweeter than Tata’s, Meli, Plants & Bowls, and Myka. There was a bit of an icy edge. It tasted like yogurt but also had a distinctive taste. It was moderately tangy. The texture was softer, and it melted more quickly.

The hazelnut froyo had a mild hazelnut flavor and was also creamy and sweet.

The décor is Greek-inspired with lots of white and blue. There is limited seating inside (two small tables). Pharos opened in November 2025. It is counter-serve.

#6) Plants & Bowls, 140 NE 39th St #241, Miami, Florida 33137

Located inside MIA Market, an upscale food hall in the Miami Design District, Plants & Bowls is a clean-eating concept offering fresh juices, shots, superfood bowls, salads, smoothies, and wraps. They added Yōva Greek yogurt ice cream, made with 2% milk and no sugar, in March 2026.

One scoop is $6, and toppings are $1. While the menu says one scoop, it’s served as a swirl out of a soft serve machine. Toppings include fresh fruit, granola, nuts, coconut, chocolate chips, chia seeds, nut butters, agave, honey, maple syrup, and sugar-free syrups. There was one flavor, plain.

Greek froyo: The texture was thick but not as creamy as some of the other Greek froyo places in Miami. The main issue is that it did not taste like yogurt. The flavor was faint in general. It tasted more like cream. It was not tangy. On the other hand, I appreciated that it was less sweet. In terms of flavor, it was on the bottom of my list of Miami froyo shops.

The toppings didn’t look as appealing as the other Miami froyo shops. However, in terms of value, the portion was larger than average and the price was reasonable.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

I skipped Go Greek Yogurt because I’ve been to the California locations many times. I prefer MELI and MYKA to Go Greek. Go Greek's texture is creamy but too soft. The froyo is also too sweet.

It's so interesting that all of these new shops are counter-serve. I also spotted a lot of sugar-free and no sugar added yogurt and toppings. The toppings are better and healthier as well. And most places charge based on cup size, bundling the cost of a topping or two in that price.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
