Fancy Froyo Spoons: Qoola

Fro-yo girl here. I’ve actually been to Qoola before, when I visited Vancouver, Canada. However, this was quite some time ago and they hadn’t introduced Qoola spoons then. I first learned about the new spoons, which feature the beaver mascot, Qoover, last April (2016), so they are relatively new. Qoover is adorable and he obviously loves hockey, since he’s wearing a hockey jersey and he’s the team captain. He’s clearly a proud Canadian. You can see his tail on the flipside and his jersey says Team Qoola 08.

They seem to come in four colors: yellow, pink, orange and green. It doesn’t look like all the locations have the spoons, based on Instagram photos.

My friend brought back a few spoons for me, from Vancouver. Thanks, S!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

The Great Spoon Trade!

Fro-yo girl here. Do you love froyo spoons? Do you collect froyo spoons? You know that I answered yes to both questions. I’m looking to trade some of my current froyo spoons in order to obtain froyo spoons that aren’t currently part of my collection.

I am looking for the following froyo spoons:

* Pink ELFY spoons from Froyo World
* Early Yogurtland spoons - light pink and light green clear spoons with old Yogurtland logo that were available around 2007
* Fru:yo Factory elephant head spoons from Hong Kong

* Yogen Fruz blue spoons with cut out smile/U shape

If you think you have some nice froyo spoons that I haven’t mentioned but might be interested in, let me know.

Let me know which spoons you are looking for and we can go from there.

For more information, check out my IFYA classified ad. You can buy, sell or trade froyo items using IFYA's free classified ads. Any registered IFYA member can create an ad and membership is free.

New Froyo Spoons: Yeti Yogurt

Fro-yo girl here. I’ve never been to Yeti Yogurt but thanks to @badrobot68 I now have a set (green, blue, orange) of their adorable froyo spoons. I’ve always liked yeti/bigfoot, so I love that the spoons feature a giant foot with four toes. Does Yeti only have eight toes? In the footprint images that I’ve seen, he has ten toes.

Thank you Alan!

Magic Color Changing Frozen Yogurt Spoons!

Fro-yo girl here. Everyone knows that I love frozen yogurt spoons. Years ago, I went to Berry Chill in Chicago and was amazed by their green color changing frozen yogurt spoons. I couldn’t throw the spoon away and it made a wonderful, practical, cute, and memorable souvenir. Berry Chill is no longer around but the color changing spoons live on thanks to Frozen Solutions.

FrozenSolutions.com has color changing spoons, cups, straws, bracelets, pens and pencils. The spoons change colors in response to cold. Some of their other items change colors based on body temperature, heat, sunlight.

The color changing spoons come in six colors. I think people of all ages like the color changing spoons. It’s an unexpected, fun and whimsical twist to the typical frozen yogurt spoon.

  • Orange turns Red
  • Green turns Blue
  • Pink turns Purple
  • Yellow turns Green
  • White turns Blue
  • Blue turns Purple

You can watch the color changing magic take place in my Vine video.

The color changing spoons are BPA free, FDA certified and food safe. Customization options are available, including imprinting names and logos to custom molds for cups, spoons and straws. For additional information, visit the Frozensolutions.com website.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

My Frozen Yogurt Spoon Collection

Fro-yo girl here. I received a request to reveal my frozen yogurt spoon collection. I didn’t include all the plain Yogurtland pink and green spoons I have and I misplaced my Berry Chill spoons (I know I didn’t lose them). I'm so happy I saved my sno:la wooden spoon.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Welcome Snog Spoon to My Froyo Spoon Collection

Fro-yo girl here. Every summer my good friend, Yee Gan and his teddy bear, Ted, visit the US from across the pond (i.e., England) and we go out for frozen yogurt together. This year they brought a Snog spoon. These limited edition spoons were designed by Tomas Alonso of the Royal College of Art.

Snog spoons come in one color, hot pink, and they’re made out of shiny anodized aluminum. They’re only available when you purchase a Snog special or on its own for 60 pence.

There was even a Snog spoon contest where entrants posted photos of Snog spoons from around the world in 2012. Winners received limited edition prints featuring the Snog spoon and a week’s worth of free Snogs.

Isn’t it a pretty spoon? Thank you Yee Gan and Ted!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland Looney Tunes “Flavors with Character” Launch Party

Fro-yo girl here. Today’s the big day, the launch of the Yogurtland Looney Tunes Flavors with Character promotion! There were three national launch parties (Burbank, CA; Dallas, TX; Brooklyn, NY) and local launch parties in 10 states. Luckily, I’m in California, where most of the launch parties occurred.

The launch parties featured free fro-yo and giveaways, such as Looney Tunes fans and tote bags.
I had so much to do during my trip to Yogurtland, including checking out the new flavors, new cups, new spoons, merchandise for sale, and launch party giveaways. I also scanned the QSR code for one of the new flavors. Collect 4 codes and get 4 ounces of free fro-yo, 6 codes and 6 ounces of free fro-yo.

At the launch party, the first 75 people got their pick of a door prize: green Looney Tunes/Yogurtland tote bag, Looney Tunes/Yogurtland stickers or a Looney Tunes/Yogurtland fan. Each guest also received an 8 ounce cup to fill with fro-yo and toppings.

  • New Yogurtland/Looney Tunes merchandise: 2 notepads, pack of pencils, 6 keychains featuring Looney Tunes characters in Yogurtland cups, reusable frozen yogurt bowls
  • New flavors: Bugs Bunny Carrot Cake and Daffy Duck Decadent Dark Chocolate Orange. It’s hard for me to judge them because I don’t eat/like carrot cake and I don’t like chocolate frozen yogurt. Both were creamy. The carrot cake frozen yogurt had a distinctive rich cream cheese flavor which was stronger than the cake flavor. I could also taste cinnamon. The dark chocolate orange frozen yogurt tasted more like fudge/cocoa with a hint of orange. It reminded me of Terry’s Chocolate Orange.
  • New cups: There were two new designs, one featuring Bugs Bunny, the other Daffy Duck.
  • New spoons: This was the most exciting part for me. The Bugs Bunny spoon is grey and Daffy Duck is orange. The spoons feature the character heads, not their bodies.
I forgot to check out the new toppings: carrots and dark chocolate orange covered cranberries.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland & Looney Tunes Team Up for a Summer Promotion

Fro-yo girl here. Summer will soon become much more exciting...the Yogurtland Looney Tunes promotion starts on July 8th! The promotion will feature 6 new flavors inspired by Looney Tunes characters, collectible character spoons (my favorite part), collectible character cups and co-branded merchandise. Also be on the lookout for character promotions and free frozen yogurt parties at select cities. My favorite character, Sylvester the Cat, didn’t make the cut this time, awww. But I’m beyond excited to collect more spoons and try the Lemon Cream Cookie frozen yogurt. Yogurtland has the best cookie flavored frozen yogurt.

For all the details keep on reading...

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

It’s Going to be a Zany Summer at Yogurtland!
Yogurtland and Looney Tunes Team up to Fill Your Cup With Flavors with Character

(IRVINE, CA) July 2, 2013 – This summer, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Tweety, Marvin the Martian and Taz are coming to life in a most delicious way at Yogurtland, in this exciting collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

From July 8 – Sept. 15, Yogurtland will introduce six, delicious new frozen yogurt and sorbet flavors and toppings inspired by the loveable Looney Tunes characters, their personalities and favorite snacks and treats. Each character will have their own collectible spoon and cup, and Yogurtland is offering a new line of co-branded merchandise including notepads, pencils, key chains and melamine bowls, while supplies last.

“For decades, Looney Tunes characters, with their loveable wit and signature charm, have entertained people of all ages,” said Charlotte Lucich, director of marketing at Yogurtland. “We are excited to combine the memorable appeal of Looney Tunes with inspired Yogurtland flavors to give our fans a superbly flavorful experience.”

“We are delighted to bring together the wildly colorful antics of the legendary Looney Tunes with the creative and clever flavors that Yogurtland is famous for in this sweet collaboration,” said Karen McTier, executive vice president, domestic licensing and worldwide marketing for Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

The promotion kicks off July 8 with character appearances, prizes and free yogurt parties at select Yogurtland locations. *

The flavors include:

• Yogurtland’s new Carrot Cake frozen yogurt blends real carrots, hand-selected spices and cream cheese frosting for a taste that will have fans saying, “What’s Up, Doc!” In honor of Bugs Bunny’s favorite snack, Yogurtland will be serving shredded carrots – the company’s first vegetable topping.

• Inspired by Daffy Duck, Decadent Dark Chocolate Orange frozen yogurt blends premium cocoa with a light natural orange finish for a flavor that’s so decadent it’s “deth-picable!” Top it off with dark chocolate, orange-covered cranberries.

• The best thing since the Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator according to Marvin the Martian, Kosmic Fruit Kaboom Sorbet is out-of-this-world delicious with pineapple, lime, banana and a secret ingredient – spinach. Need more Kaboom? Top if off with Pop Rocks for an added explosion of flavor. (59-cents per individual packet)

• On the delicate side, Lemon Cream Cookie frozen yogurt is a tasty “tweat” even Tweety Bird would “twy.” Made with real cookies and lemon, this flavor will make “puddy tats” jealous.

• Inspired by Road Runner, Cactus Berry Tart combines real cactus pear with Northwest Marion blackberries, blueberries, and red raspberries for a light tart taste guaranteed to cool down even the hottest day in the desert. “Beep! Beep!”

• Taz would chew his way through anything to get to Yogurtland’s Devil’s Food Cake frozen yogurt. Top off this untamed chocolate deliciousness with shaved curls of dark chocolate that will leave taste buds swirling.

Enjoying the Looney Tunes-inspired flavors can also earn fans free yogurt. Using Yogurtland’s mobile app, fans can scan QR codes on the in-store flavor cards and earn 4-ounces of free yogurt after collecting four character codes, and 6-ounces after collecting all six codes.

Fans can use the Yogurtland app to find the nearest location and see the flavors that are being served at nearby locations. To find the app, search YOGURTLAND in your mobile app store.

New Fro-yo Spoon! Menchie’s Mookie Spoon

Fro-yo girl here. First it was the Menchie, then Chip and now Mookie has joined the list of Menchie character spoons. Mookie, one of Menchie’s sweet friends, is a cow who loves frozen yogurt. Here's a picture of the front and back of the spoon. Aren't both sides adorable?

Mookie spoons are limited edition, so get them while you can. I’m happy to see my fro-yo spoon collection expand.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo Spoons from NYC

Fro-yo girl here. My fro-yo spoon collection has expanded thanks to my new green and magenta spoons from 16 Handles. The spoons are biodegradable and they say Handle It on the handle. Cute.

I also saved my glass Chobani cup from the Chobani SoHo boutique.

Tutti Frutti Fruit Fro-yo Spoons

Fro-yo girl here. Attention fro-yo spoon fans! There are more signature fro-yo spoons to collect. Tutti Frutti just came out with new fro-yo spoons in five colors: orange, green, yellow, blue and red. The spoon handle is topped by 3 fruit shapes, a green grape (or is it a green apple?), banana, strawberry.

I wonder if the spoon is biodegradeable? It doesn’t say that it is.

I found my fro-yo spoons at their Milpitas location. The Milpitas location also had two flavors of soybean frozen yogurt and $3 Vietnamese sandwiches.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s Chip Spoon

Fro-yo girl here. I picked up a couple of the new Chip fro-yo spoons at Menchie’s this week. These limited edition spoons were released last week on 8/24 and they’re already out of spoons at some locations. The Chip spoon is Menchie’s first limited edition spoon design and my first brown spoon. I hope more designs are on the way!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo Spoon Poll Results

Fro-yo girl here. These past few weeks have been a busy time for fro-yo spoon collectors, thanks to the four Sanrio spoon designs released by fro-yo spoon innovator, Yogurtland. I remember when I first saw the Yogurtland branded spoons. It was love at first sight back in 2009.

I wondered how many others saved and admired fro-yo spoons. The poll results are in and 68% of voters also save cute fro-yo spoons! Yay! That’s more than I expected. Many of my recent fro-yo purchases have been driven by the desire to collect fro-yo spoons.

Menchie’s just came out with limited edition Chip spoons this week. I have to have one of course.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

TuxedoSam Yogurtland Spoons

Fro-yo girl here. The new TuxedoSam fro-yo spoons and Miami cups arrived on 7/24 at participating Yogurtland locations. Yay! Here’s a picture of my spoon. I was inspired by TuxedoSam to select Frosty Vanilla froyo (which I think is Madagascar Vanilla renamed) and snow caps. I also selected salted caramel pecan fro-yo, mochi, crushed Butterfingers, toffee and a Nutter Butter cookie.

Yogurtland also mentioned there would be a special prize for those who collect all four spoon designs, so save your spoons.Of course I’m wondering what the prize will be...I’m hoping for a special fro-yo spoon. Kuromi? A coupon for free fro-yo would be welcome too.

The TuxedoSam spoons will be available for two weeks (or while supplies last).

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Sanrio Loves Yogurtland, Part 2

Fro-yo girl here. I’m so thrilled that Sanrio and Yogurtland have partnered up again. The new cups, spoons and products hit participating Yogurtland stores today. The Hello Kitty spoon is the first of the four designs released. Every two weeks a new spoon and new cup design will be released.

  • July 10: Hollywood cup & pink Hello Kitty spoon
  • July 24: Miami cup & light blue TuxedoSam spoon
  • August 7: San Francisco cup & purple Little Twin Stars spoon
  • August 21: Honolulu & black Bad Badtz Maru

The co-branded merchandise includes:

  • Tote bags (2 colors: pink, green) with Hello Kitty, TuxedoSam, Little Twin Stars and Bad Badtz Maru, $2.50
  • Plush Hello Kitty doll in pink and black Yogurtland uniform, $13.50
  • Set of 4 buttons, $4.99 per pack
  • 4 keychains, $3.99 each
  • Gift card case, $2.50, gift card sold separately
The Hello Kitty on the Hello Kitty keychain now has a pink bow. Last time she had a red bow. Her outfit is now pink rather than green.

I think I was so excited by the Hello Kitty cup and spoon that I wasn’t paying as much attention to the fro-yo. They had new flavors: Salted Caramel Pecan and Strawberry Lemonade Sorbet. The salted caramel pecan didn’t taste that different from dulce de leche but it was less sweet (which I appreciated) and had a hint of nuttiness. There was a sign that said Hello Kitty Loves Strawberry Lemonade Sorbet. So cute.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo girl here. I’m loving how people are making plans for National Frozen Yogurt Day. I get more excited about it every day.

Thanks Yogurtland! I know other shops have special promotions (e.g., YoBlendz, Twisted Yogurt, Kikiberri, Josie's) so check with your local fro-yo shop.

Go out and eat fro-yo on National Frozen Yogurt Day!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

2011 the Fro-yo Year in Review

Fro-yo girl here. As 2011 draws to a close, it’s time to look back at fro-yo events and trends and check out which of my fro-yo wishes came true.

Salty, sweet fro-yo flavors gain favor. This was the year when fro-yo flavors ventured into the land of salty and sweet, with peanut butter and jelly, salted caramel and maple bacon donut.

Fro-yo on the move. The rise of mobile fro-yo trucks was a major trend in 2011, with NYC and Chicago leading the way.

Fro-yo prices rise. The fro-yo price wars of 2009-2010 have ended and even Yogurtland raised its prices to 33 cents and up from 30 cents an ounce. Prices have gone up at many fro-yo shops.

Fro-yo bubble bursts in the Bay Area. Fewer fro-yo shops are opening as the number of closures rises. It’s always sad to see a fro-yo shop close but the ones that I will truly miss are Jubili (the first place I tried tart fro-yo) in SF, Yogurt Harmony in Berkeley, Tartini in Cupertino, and Fro-ggie in Fremont, CA.

Notable fro-yo openings in the Bay Area. Two locations of the Italian fro-yo chain, Yogorino, brought a richer style of fro-yo to SF. Jamba Juice’s Whirln’s fro-yo reached the Bay Area.

My fro-yo wishes mostly came true. I did get more signature fro-yo spoons. Yogurtland came out with Sanrio yogurt spoons. We did get a mobile fro-yo truck in the Bay Area though it was non-dairy. I did have a Greek fro-yo. However, I didn’t have any macarons with fro-yo.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Future Fro-yo Shop Picture: Yogurtland Burlingame

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland is finally coming to the Peninsula! Burlingame Fro-yo Spy broke the news to me. The newly remodeled Safeway includes some new buildings for restaurants. Yogurtland’s sign is up, along with Five Guys and Which Wich?

I can finally get my Yogurtland spoons without crossing a bridge or driving over an hour. Yay!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo Spoons...as Door Handles

Fro-yo girl here. I was back at Yogurtland for Yogurtland Sanrio spoons (My Melody and Keroppi). Their new Capitola location has giant Yogurtland spoons as door handles! There's a green one and a pink one and the spoons say Yogurtland on them...they're giant versions of their fro-yo spoons. I wish I could get some for my home. I'd love to swap out my boring door knob with a Yogurtland spoon.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

* YOGURTLAND: 1955 41st Avenue, Capitola, CA
