Froyo Shop Graveyard: Yogurtland Closes in San Francisco

Fro-yo girl here. I recently returned to San Francisco, which meant that I had planned to visit my old Yogurtland location on Ocean Ave. in Ingleside. Sadly, it closed for good this week. Sunday, 1/18, was the last day. There was a nice note on the door thanking patrons. Also, they’ll accept “You Rule” school certificates at the Burlingame location. I could still see the tiled wall inside, tables, chair and equipment.

Since it was the only location in SF, I used to go every week until I moved. I remember being there the day it opened, Monday, December 17, 2012. It was also the day they showed the final episode of Gossip Girl...Yogurtland was there for me then and on many other days. I felt so sad when I heard that my Yogurtland closed that I had to go get some froyo.

Yogurtland SF, you will be missed.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

V.I.P. Winter Pass from Yogurtland Burlingame

Fro-yo girl here. Several months ago, I signed up for Yogurtland Burlingame’s VIP email list and last week I picked up the winter VIP pass. It’s a plastic card that you use to claim special offers each month for the next five months (good at the Burlingame location only). Supplies of the card are limited.
  • November: Large cup of pumpkin pie fro-yo for $3. The large cup is massive...it’s too much for one person but perfect to bring to Thanksgiving dinner. Toppings are included.
  • December: Five ounces of peppermint hot cocoa fro-yo for free
  • January: Buy a small cup of vanilla fro-yo for $2
  • February: Buy 5 ounces of fro-yo, get 5 ounces free
  • March: Four ounces of mint fro-yo for free
You had to sign up by 10/29/2012 to qualify for the offer. The card can be picked up at the Burlingame loctaion by those who signed up in time between now and 11/26 (remember supplies are limited). They have a list of emails of those who signed up in time.

Thanks Yogurtland Burlingame, for making a girl feel like a true fro-yo VIP.

My Attempt at Making the World’s Tallest Yogurt

Fro-yo girl here. Here’s a look at my attempt to make the tallest cup of fro-yo at Yogurtland Burlingame’s World’s Tallest Yogurt event today.

First I checked in at the table outside and received a 4 oz. cup for $1. I decided to attempt to put one fro-yo flavor on top of another (raspberry tart, blue lychee bliss) since there was little room for side by side swirls. The fro-yo seemed stiffer than usual which made it a little more challenging to swirl. I could feel my fro-yo tipping over to the side, so I knew it was time to stop. I think I got 10 ounces worth. It was really difficult to add any toppings. Sorry, Yogurtland for being messy and leaving a trail of Fruity Pebbles and mochi balls.

After completing the survey, I went upstairs and found an image of a black & white Yogurtland cup on the wall. People were decorating the image. Cute.
I noticed some Yogurtland people around and a photographer. He only seemed interested in little kids eating fro-yo.

The event continues tomorrow from 12 - 4 PM. Remember to take the survey and be entered to win a $100 Yogurtland gift card.

New Yogurtland Flavors: Blue Lychee Bliss & Almond Midnight Mocha

Fro-yo girl. The flavor elves at Yogurtland have been busy again and they’ve come up with two new fro-yo flavors. You won’t want to miss trying both. Expect to see them at participating Yogurtland locations till the end of June. I found both at Yogurtland Burlingame.

* BLUE LYCHEE BLISS: The combination of lychee and blueberry is a pale purple creamy yet refreshing treat. The lychee flavor is more dominant than the blueberry but you can definitely taste the blueberry flavor and see the blueberry flecks. I liked how it was quite tart.
* ALMOND MIDNIGHT MOCHA: Two types of chocolate, coffee and almond make this super rich and decadent without being super sweet. The rich nutty chocolate flavor reminded me of the center of a chocolate truffle or a firm, extra chocolatey mousse. Wow.

Future Fro-yo Shop Picture: Yogurtland Burlingame

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland is finally coming to the Peninsula! Burlingame Fro-yo Spy broke the news to me. The newly remodeled Safeway includes some new buildings for restaurants. Yogurtland’s sign is up, along with Five Guys and Which Wich?

I can finally get my Yogurtland spoons without crossing a bridge or driving over an hour. Yay!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
