2024 Easter Froyo Shop Spirit Award Announced

Fro-yo girl here. Happy Froyo Easter! It’s time to pick the froyo shop with the most Easter spirit in 2024. I feel like there’s less Easter spirit this year, but maybe it’s because Easter is so early.

This year’s Easter Froyo Shop Spirit Award winner is…Tutti Frutti Australia. They’re giving away a free sprinkle of Easter eggs with any froyo purchase during Easter week. There are currently fifteen Tutti Frutti shops in Australia.

Last year’s winner, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt, had an Easter giveaway where the prize was a Peeps-themed Easter basket and a $50 Orange Leaf gift card. Also, Orange Leaf shops featured Easter Peeps as the topping of the month in April 2023.

Previous Easter Froyo Shop Spirit Winners:

  • 2023: Orange Leaf, US
  • 2022: Tutti Frutti Jamaica
  • 2021: Marcel’s Frozen Yogurt, South Africa
  • 2020: Yo Mama Froyo, Hong Kong
  • 2019: The Yog Bar, UK

For more Easter froyo pics, check out the Pinterest board, Easter Froyo Pics. There are over 800 Easter froyo images.

Frozen Yogurt, Past & Present in Dublin, CA

Fro-yo girl here. I can’t think about Dublin, California, without fondly remembering Blush Organic Frozen Yogurt, and the sweet owner, Jonathan Rim. Blush opened in June 2008 and made the best froyo in that area. That location is now Teaspoon, a boba shop. Other froyo shops followed, notably two self-serve froyo shops in 2010: Yogurtland and Tutti Frutti. Blush remained the premium froyo choice in the Tri-Valley.

Today, you can get froyo at Yogurtland, Cuppa Yo, and Nick the Greek. Yogurtland was the last froyo shop standing. Cuppa Yo just opened in March 2024.

Dublin currently has a population of 71,750 and is one of the fastest-growing cities in Alameda County. The median age is 36.5 and the median household income is $171,168.

Current Froyo Shops

  • Cuppa Yo, 3970 Summit Rd, opened on March 23, 2024, the first California location for the Oregon-based self-serve froyo chain.
  • Nick the Greek, 5246 Dublin Blvd, opened in 2021 at the old Yalla location. Nick the Greek is a fast-casual cafĂ© that also serves Greek frozen yogurt. So, it's not a froyo shop, but I'll include it on this list.
  • Yogurtland, 6851 Amador Plaza Rd, Ste 102, opened in 2010, a few months after Yogurtland San Ramon, the first Yogurtland to open in the Tri-Valley.

Past Froyo Shops

  • Blush Organic Frozen Yogurt, 4640 Tassajara Rd, Ste A, was a counter-serve froyo shop, that opened in 2008. Blush later expanded and opened shops in Burlingame, Milpitas, Pleasanton, San Francisco, and Walnut Creek. The froyo recipes were proprietary and amazing. The last Blush locations to close were Pleasanton and Dublin, in 2020.
  • Menchie’s, 3742 Fallon Rd, Ste 650, opened in 2014 in the Fallon Gateway shopping center and closed in 2019
  • Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt, 4930 Dublin Blvd, Ste 720, was located at Hacienda Crossings from 2010 to 2020. The pandemic probably was the reason it closed for good.
  • Yalla Mediterranean, 5246 Dublin Blvd, opened in November 2015 and closed in 2020. It wasn’t a froyo shop, but the fast-casual Mediterranean eatery did serve Greek frozen yogurt with Greek toppings. The location was taken over by Nick the Greek.
  • Yogurt Delight, 7840 Amador Valley Blvd, was a self-serve froyo shop inside Valero gas station’s convenience store. It opened in 2016 and may have closed in 2019.

Did I miss any froyo shops in Dublin? Let me know if I did.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland in Burbank, California, is closed for remodeling from March 25 – March 27. I noticed a few Yogurtland locations have recently been remodeled and am curious to see the new look at Yogurtland Burbank. Note, the Yogurtland website and app and Google Places do not note that this location is currently closed.

Cuppa Yo Grand Opening in Dublin on March 23

Fro-yo girl here. Cuppa Yo’s first location in California, located in Dublin, California (East Bay), has announced its grand opening date, Saturday, March 23. I won’t be able to be there, but I’m sure I’ll visit the shop in the future.

Cuppa Yo was founded in 2009 in Bend, Oregon. They’ve been signing franchisees and opening many new stores recently. The concept is self-serve and can now be found in multiple states.

The Dublin store will be in Tivoli Plaza, a new retail plaza on Summit Road. For updates, follow Cuppa Yo Dublin's Instagram account, @cuppayo.dublin

New Pinkberry Spring Flavor: Mango Lemonade Frozen Yogurt

Fro-yo girl here. Happy first day of spring! And with spring comes new spring froyo flavors. Pinkberry just introduced a new spring flavor, mango lemonade frozen yogurt.

Mango lemonade froyo is available for a limited time at participating Pinkberry locations. The new flavor blends the sweetness of mangoes with the tanginess of a good lemonade. The recommended toppings for mango lemonade froyo are fresh mango, mango puree, and a lemon wedge.

Mango lemonade froyo: I liked it a lot! Mango froyo tends to be too sweet. Adding lemon to mango adds the tang that I crave. The texture was smooth and icy. It reminded me of Blush Organic Frozen Yogurt’s mango froyo…something I haven’t tasted for a LONG time. My recommended toppings are fresh mango and raspberries for added sweetness and tang with a Belgian butter waffle cookie for crunch.

Pinkberry is also adding two new crushed teas: Passion Mango and Watermelon. Both teas feature fresh pieces of fruit.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Prices Increase For the Third Time This Year at Yogurtland Pasadena On Lake Avenue

Fro-yo girl here. In January 2024, I thought I saw a sign saying that the price per ounce at Yogurtland Pasadena on Lake Avenue was $0.69/oz. It was $0.67/oz in December 2023. The price was increased to $0.71/oz in February, crossing the $0.70/oz threshold that many froyo shops were hovering just below.

Amazingly, the price just went up again in March, to $0.75/oz. That’s three price hikes in three months. Seems crazy?

Menchie’s New Spring Vibes Spoon & March Promotions

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s first new spoon of the year continues a tradition of introducing a spring-themed froyo spoon. The new spoon is bright yellow and features Menchie’s friend, PB, holding a cup of Menchie’s froyo in one hand and a spoon in the other. The amount of detail makes the spoon super cute. You can see that PB is holding a Menchie’s spoon and the cup of froyo has Menchie’s face on it. The froyo is covered in sprinkles. The spoon says “Spring Vibes!” on the handle. On the back, you can see the back of PB. The spoon feels nice and heavy.

Menchie’s is featuring two flavors this month: Cotton Candy froyo and Vegan Blueberry Lemonade sorbet. Both are returning flavors.

Menchie’s Smile Challenge app game is back. To play the game, download the Menchie’s app and scan the app every time you visit Menchie’s. The goal is to fill out the game board by doing what’s in each square – e.g., visit on a Monday. When you complete the game, you’ll get a $5 reward and be entered to win prizes, like free froyo for a year. Twelve winners will be selected. The game ends on March 31.

Featured flavors and collectible spoons are available for a limited time only at participating Menchie’s locations.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Alden’s Organic Greek Yogurt Bar Review

Fro-yo girl here. Alden’s Organic Greek Yogurt Bars were marked with a New For You sign at Sprouts in Eagle Rock (Los Angeles). One box contains four individually wrapped bars. Each bar is 2.5 fl oz. A box was $5.99 on sale and $7.99 regular price.

For some reason, the new bars are not listed on the Alden’s Ice Cream website. I also could not find a press release about the new bars. Sprouts had two flavors: Mint Fudge Twist, Chocolate Fudge Twist.

Mint Fudge Twist bars are made with real organic fudge and organic Greek yogurt. They’re non-GMO, gluten-free, and free of high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, artificial flavoring, artificial coloring, carrageenan, and antibiotics. And they contain live & active probiotic cultures. The bar looked like a Yasso bar, with the fudge swirled into the mint yogurt. The texture was close to ideal: creamy, smooth, and soft. The bar did not taste like yogurt but it had a nice, refreshing mint flavor. It wasn’t crazy sweet and the fudge was nice – you could taste it and the flavor wasn’t overwhelming. I couldn’t taste the monk fruit. It was masked by the other flavors.

One bar is 90 calories with 3g total fat, 14g total carbs, 11g total sugars, and 2g protein.

Update: The press release came out. The available flavors are:
  • Mango Twist
  • Chocolate Fudge Twist
  • Mint Fudge Twist
  • Espresso Twist
  • Salted Caramel Twist
  • Strawberry Twist
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

4 out of 5 stars.

New Spring Toppings at Yogurtland

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland is ready for spring with new toppings. First, they have gummy rainbow clusters. They look great with the seasonal flavor, Lucky Irish Mint frozen yogurt. I think they’re Nerds? But the sign didn’t say Nerds. Nerds has gummy rainbow clusters that are gummy and sweet on the inside and crunchy and tangy on the outside.

I also spotted something called Strawberry Condensed Milk. I wasn’t sure what it was. It was a small square. I did some research and they’re probably using Yuki & Love’s strawberry condensed milk snowflake cake. It looks like the sign on the toppings bar was cut from the Yuki & Love package. The square was firm and chewy, like nougat, with strawberry flavor that tasted real. It had something in it with a little crunch – cookies? I liked how it wasn’t too sweet. It didn’t eat like a “cake” to me. Yuki & Love strawberry condensed milk snowflake cake is a product of Taiwan and it’s sold at Costco. Love trying something new and tasty at Yogurtland!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
