Comparing Froyo Loyalty Programs

Fro-yo girl here. Pinkberry just announced a new, revamped PinkCard rewards program, so I thought I would compare the loyalty programs at Pinkberry, Yogurtland, Menchie’s, TCBY, and SweetFrog.

PINKBERRY

Under the old Pinkberry rewards program, you earned a point for every purchase and a free small froyo with toppings once you reached 10 points. The new program awards 1 point for every $1 spent, with 25 bonus points for registering your account. Once you reach 50 points, you’ll earn a $5 reward.

This isn’t a bad deal, since an average cup of Pinkberry is over $5, meaning you have to spend over $50 to get the free cup of froyo. Granted, the free cup of froyo has a value that’s higher than $5. It works out to about a 10% discount, which is the same under the new program. Basing it on dollars spent is also fairer, as it doesn’t penalize those who order a larger froyo.

PinkCard Rewards

  • Earn 1 point for every $1 spent
  • Get a $5 reward with every 50 points
  • Receive 25 bonus points when you register your account
  • Members only offers
  • Special offer for your birthday

If you already joined Pinkberry, you’ll still need to register for a new account. Your current points will be converted and transferred to your new account. Be sure to use the same email address or phone number when you register for the new program.

YOGURTLAND

Yogurtland’s program, Real Rewards, once rewarded points based on the number of ounces purchased, but the current program rewards two points for every $1 spent. The reward tier names and perks also changed. There are three reward tiers.

Yogurtland Real Rewards

  • Earn 2 points for every $1 spent
  • Reach 100 points and get a $5 reward
  • Receive 50 bonus points when you register
  • Surprise gifts & special offers

Signature Tier, under 200 points
  • Birthday reward: up to $5 off

Premium Tier, 200 points
  • Birthday reward: up to $6 off
  • Half-birthday reward
  • Quarterly bonus points

Ultimate Tier, 600 points
  • Birthday reward: up to $7 off
  • Half-birthday reward
  • Quarterly bonus points
  • 2x points every 2nd of the month

The basic signature tier is very similar to Pinkberry’s PinkCard. The perks are better for the higher tiers.

MENCHIE’S

Menchie’s My Smileage rewards 1 smile (point) for every dollar spent at Menchie’s. For every 50 smiles early, you’ll earn a $5 reward. This is the same as Pinkberry and Yogurtland’s reward programs.

My Smileage

  • Earn 1 smile for every $1 spent
  • Reach 50 smiles, get a $5 reward
  • 25 free bonus smiles for registering
  • 10 extra smiles when you visit within 7 days of registering
  • $5 birthday reward
  • Surprise gifts & special offers

More rewards are available on the Menchie’s app. Menchie’s has had quite a few app-specific perks, like the Smile Challenge, double smile days that are only available if you scan the app at the register, and more.

TCBY

TCBY’s Froyo Club offers a wider range of rewards.

Froyo Club

  • Earn 10 points for every $1 spent\
  • Rewards are based on points
    • 200 points, $1 off
    • 400 points, $3 off
    • 650 points, $5 off
    • 850 points, free froyo up to $8.50 in value
    • 1,250 points, 25% off total order in single transaction, up to $12.50 value
    • 2,500 points, 50% off total order in single transaction, up to $25 value
  • Birthday reward
  • Surprise gifts & special offers

While you can earn a discount faster under TCBY’s program, the program isn’t as generous as the others.

SWEETFROG

SweetFrog’s program is called sweetRewards. It was recently revamped, and there wasn’t much information about the program. It sounds similar to Pinkberry’s loyalty program.

sweetRewards

  • Earn 1 point for every $1 you spend (pre-tax)
  • Receive 25 bonus points loaded to your account when you register
  • Exclusive information about new products, member only offers
  • Special offer for your birthday

All these reward programs are free to join. Remember that points and rewards can expire, so read those terms and conditions. Because of the reward tiers, I think Yogurtland has the best loyalty/rewards program.

Yogurtland's Cinnamon Sugar Cereal Froyo is the Seasonal Exclusive Flavor & Free Delivery Offer

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland has been busy lately. I mentioned earlier that Real Rewards members can enjoy double points every Tuesday in September.

You can also get free delivery on your $10+ Yogurtland purchase now through 9/6. Use the code 'BACK2SCHOOL' at checkout when you order from the Yogurtland website or app (minimum $10 purchase).

ICYMI, Cinnamon Sugar Cereal froyo is back at Yogurtland and it’s the newest seasonal exclusive flavor, replacing S’mores froyo. It’s made with real cinnamon. When this flavor was first introduced in August 2023, it was called Cinnamon Churro Cereal. The flavor description hasn’t changed and Yogurtland says Cinnamon Sugar Cereal froyo is a returning flavor, so the name must have been changed.

I tried it again and it was better this time. The sample I had in August 2023 was icy, but the one I had at the Arcadia branch was thick and creamy. The cinnamon flavor is strong. The cinnamon seems stronger than the Yogurtland Churro flavor and it also seemed sweeter.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland Adds a New Kind of Point System to Real Rewards

Fro-yo girl here. Back in March, Yogurtland offered 30 bonus points for any froyo purchase made on a Monday. I noticed that the fine print said, “Bonus points do not apply towards tier upgrades or yearly points.” On National Tea Day, April 21, Yogurtland’s offer of double points also includes the condition that “bonus points do not apply towards tier upgrades or yearly points.” They’re making it harder to reach the higher reward tiers now. I don't recall ever seeing bonus points that were excluded from tier upgrades or yearly points until this year.

FYI, there are still three reward tiers: Signature, Premium, and Ultimate. Real Rewards hasn’t been the same since they eliminated the Ultimate Cup award in 2021.

Yogurtland Revamps Real Rewards Program

Fro-yo girl here. I remember when Yogurtland first launched Real Rewards in 2013 (I signed up just as soon as I could). The program stayed pretty much the same for years. There were three levels: green, raspberry, and platinum. You earned one point for every ounce you purchased, free froyo every 36 points and a birthday reward.

The Real Rewards program just changed. Now, you earn two points for every dollar spent at Yogurtland. After you earn 100 points, you’l get a $5 reward for a future purchase. There are still three levels but they’re different now. The new levels are Signature, Premium, and Ultimate. The higher the level, the better the rewards (e.g., bigger birthday reward, exclusive rewards like the half birthday reward and quarterly bonus points. Two hundred points moves you up from the Signature to the Premium level.

Get 50 free points just for registering.

What’s different? Rewards and points are based on dollars now, not ounces. The Platinum card is gone. And the Ultimate Cup reward is no more. I know…that was the best reward ever!

P.S. I've been having problems with Real Rewards for about a year. Even though I provided my phone number, I wasn't getting my points. Hopefully, they fixed whatever the issue was.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland PremiYUM Rewards Day, June 23, Recap

Fro-yo girl here. Today was PremiYUM Rewards Day at Yogurtland, a customer appreciation event for Real Rewards members. Originally scheduled for June 9, the date was changed to June 23. Anyone who joined Real Rewards by June 22, 2020 received the 8 oz free reward good for June 23 only.

PremiYUM Rewards Day is one of several recent promotions from Yogurtland. In the LA area, recent grads received free froyo last weekend at some Yogurtland locations, many locations also gave out free prepacked froyo cups with purchase in May, and the new flavor, Orange Blossom White Peach light ice cream was finally introduced (the introduction was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic).

I knew that I couldn’t miss out. I was delighted to find Peanut Butter froyo nearby, plus Nutter Butter cookies, peanut butter sauce, chocolate shell and Teddy Grahams. I was surprised to find that you could serve your own froyo at Yogurtland Eagle Rock but an associate adds the toppings.

All Real Rewards members earn points that can be redeemed for free froyo. You can join at any Yogurtland location, on the Yogurtland website, or by downloading the Real Rewards app from the Google Play or App Store.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland PremiYUM Rewards Day, June 9

Fro-yo girl here. A few days ago, Yogurtland sent out a save the date, June 9, announcement on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Details were scant but Yogurtland promised something big for Real Reward members.

The details are in. Real Reward members get a special customer appreciation reward, free froyo on Tuesday, June 9, aka PremiYUM Rewards Day. The reward will be sent to the accounts of Real Reward members.
The number of ounces was not specified in the Yogurtland email, but it will probably depend on your reward level.

Joining Real Rewards is free and anyone who joins by June 8 will receive the reward. You can join at any Yogurtland location, on the Yogurtland website, or by downloading the Real Rewards app from the Google Play or App Store. Don’t forget to register by June 8!

Update: PremiYUM Rewards Day has been moved to June 23.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland 2020 Sweet Treat Booklets

Fro-yo girl here. Happy Black Friday! I stopped by Yogurtland to get the new Sweet Treat coupon booklets for 2020. There are two versions. Booklet A covers the first half of the year and Booklet B covers the second half. During Black Friday, the booklets were 2 for $40. Otherwise, the booklets are $30 each.

Booklet A: You get 3 coupons per month. The first coupon is for $1 off, the next $2 off and the last is a buy one, get one free coupon. Then there are 12 more coupons, including an 8 oz free birthday treat good on your birthday, Valentine’s Day BOGO, Tax Day BOGO, catering coupons, 20% off your purchase, and free bottled water with purchase.

Booklet B: Like Booklet A, you get 3 coupons per month: $1 off, $2 off and BOGO free. There are 12 additional coupons, including a free bottled water with purchase every month, Fourth of July BOGO, Halloween BOGO, Holiday treat BOGO, catering coupons and 20% off your purchase.

The bottled water coupons are lame, but even if you don’t use them, the coupons are a good value IF you go to Yogurtland about once a week. If you plan on froyo catering for 30 or more people, they’re an even better deal.

The coupons cannot be combined with other offers, so I think that means no reward points. But with the birthday coupon, you’ll still get the birthday treat. However, you’ll have to use it on your birthday. The birthday reward gave you more time for redemption.

The coupons are only good at participating locations in California, Arizona, and Texas. I hope I don’t lose them again!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland Celebrates Voltron & Brings Back Pineapple Sorbet

Fro-yo girl here. Last Friday Yogurtland brought back one of their most popular flavors, Pineapple Sorbet.

I also donated to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and filled out a Yogurtland pledge circle (the circles are posted to their wall of donors).

Last week they also announced that they were celebrating a new Netflix original series called Voltron Legendary Defender. Visit Yogurtland between Sept. 22 - Oct. 19 three times and you'll be rewarded with three free ounces (must be a Real Rewards member). I’m sure I’ll earn the reward.

Launch of Yogurtland’s Kung Fu Panda 3 Flavor PANDAmonium

Fro-yo girl here. It’s Day One of Yogurtland’s new promotion, Flavor PANDAmonium. Flavor PANDAmonium features five awesome flavors inspired by the new movie, Kung Fu Panda 3. There are also five new limited edition collectible froyo spoons to accompany the five flavors.

The featured flavors, spoons and release dates are:
  • Po’s Cookies & Cream (January 4) with Po’s black spoon
  • Mei Mei’s Dragon Warrior Passion Tart (January 4) with Mei Mei’s red spoon
  • Bao’s Cherry Tart (January 18) with Bao’s yellow spoon
  • Tigress’ Big Pop Sorbet (February 1) with Tigress’ orange spoon
  • Master Shifu’s Honey Graham (February 15) with Master Shifu’s green spoon

It was a pleasant surprise to receive an email from Yogurtland Real Rewards this morning announcing the promotion and offering Real Reward members three free ounces. My Yogurtland location is giving out Kung Fu Panda 3 fortune cookies while supplies last.

The new topping, Po’s Power Crunch Cereal looks like and tastes like Cocoa Puffs with panda and orange star marshmallow shapes.

The new cups have pictures of the Kung Fu Panda 3 characters. You can buy Kung Fu Panda 3 Yogurtland character keychains. There are five designs and the keychain is $2.99.

Yogurtland team members are wearing Kung Fu Panda 3 green t-shirts and visors.

Select Yogurtland locations will have Kung Fu Panda 3 launch parties. Flavor PANDAmonium runs from January 4 – February 28, 2016. Kung Fu Panda 3 arrives in theaters on January 29.

Yogurtland Tis the Season to Share Holiday 2015 Promotion

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland’s Tis the Season to Share holiday promotion began today and it runs through December 27. Tis the Season to Share features four festive flavors (they are returning holiday favorites) and a Share more, Earn more promotion for Real Rewards members.

Flavor schedule:

  • Cranberry raspberry tart (Nov. 9): one of their tarter tart flavors, nice balance of cranberry and raspberry flavors, creamy yet refreshing. Recommended toppings: yogurt pretzels, berries, popping boba, condensed milk

  • Caramel almond bar (Dec. 7)
  • White chocolate peppermint (Dec. 7)

To earn rewards for sharing Real Rewards with your friends, visit yogurt-land.com to generate your unique URL, share it with friends and earn rewards for each friend who joins and makes a purchase.

Unlimited Cup Lessons

Fro-yo girl here. For Yogurtland Real Reward members, the ultimate reward for eating froyo is the coveted “Unlimited Cup.”

To earn the Unlimited Cup you need to (1) be a Real Rewards member and (2) collect 520 points within a year of the day you first joined Real Rewards (or the anniversary of the day you first joined).

Generally, one ounce of froyo and toppings is equal to one point though sometimes they have double point promotions (most of these are for new Real Rewards members). The free froyo you earn along the way doesn’t earn you any points. If you buy gift cards, the points go to the person using the gift card at the time he/she is paying for the yogurt.

With the free froyo rewards every 36 points, you have to eat way more than 520 ounces to get to your Unlimited Cup. Once you earn the Unlimited Cup, you have a month to redeem it. You can redeem it at any Yogurtland store whenever you want. Whatever fits in the 16 ounce cup is yours, free.

Tips for Building Your Unlimited Cup

  • (Pre-planning) Choose a day/time that isn’t busy (generally going when Yogurtland first opens should work) so people don’t get in your way. Bring a tray (e.g., the FreeHand ThumbTray from CarryOutSupplies.com makes it easy to carry multiple cups of froyo).
  • (Pre-planning) Be sure to start with the 16 oz cup (if you start with the larger cup, you may have to transfer what’s in it to the 16 oz cup
  • (Pre-planning) Survey the available flavors and toppings and decide what you want before you start.
    • Keep in mind that some toppings freeze better than others (e.g., fresh fruit, gummy bears don’t freeze well). Cookies and nuts still taste good when frozen. Nuts are probably the best because they don’t get soggy.
    • Pick froyo flavors that will complement each other. Forget using a cup divider.
You’re ready to start building your cup.
  1. Build a base of toppings about 1 inch on the bottom – pack it solid with toppings – cookies and nuts. Use a spoon to mash together and make a smooth, even surface. The toppings base was about four ounces in my cup.
  2. Add froyo – no one sees what’s inside the cup. Try swirling to fill the cup (usually I start from the edges and then fill in the center). Don’t exceed the rim of the cup. Once you’ve gotten close to the rim, stop and tap the bottom of the cup hard against the table. This will fill in any air pockets. Add more froyo till you reach the rim. Stop.
  3. Add a ring of wafer roll cookies. Make sure the cookies are firmly placed in the froyo. Place them in right next to each other at a slight outward angle (not straight up and down). This will form a wider base for your froyo.
  4. Swirl around the outside edges…then start building your froyo towers . Don’t move the cup too much, a gentle back and forth motion will work. Do this 3 to 5 times till you reach the maximum height. Towards the end you can place the cup on the shelf below and move it a little that way. The multiple towers add stability to the overall structure. The goal is to get to 50-70 ounces.
  5. Add additional toppings if desired. Redeem your reward. Take plenty of pictures. Grab a few cups to transfer your froyo to so that you can take it home. The tray will come in handy.
For additional inspiration, check out the Pinterest board, Unlimited Cups of Froyo.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland Flavor Quest New Flavors: Blood Orange Ice, NSA Espresso Float

Fro-yo girl here. Two new Yogurtland Third Annual Flavor Quest flavors were introduced today, Blood Orange Ice and NSA Espresso Float. Find these flavors at your local Yogurtland until May 10, or while supplies last.

  • Blood Orange Ice (Spain): Featuring Spain’s beloved fruit, Blood Orange Ice is dairy free, nonfat and gluten free. This flavor didn’t have the creaminess of the yogurt flavors and it was sweet and citrusy (but not super sweet) without being tangy or acidic.
    • Recommended toppings: Popping boba, oranges, white chocolate chips
  • NSA Espresso Float (Italy): “The kick of espresso, the sweetness of vanilla, all in one delicious decadent Italian dessert.” This creamy flavor is bolder and bitterer than the other Yogurtland coffee flavors. The vanilla flavor is subtle and more of a back note/aftertaste.
    • Recommended toppings: Dark chocolate, condensed milk, whipped cream, Oreos

Real Reward members, remember to collect Sweet Spot visits. Five Sweet Spots equals 5 free ounces and 10 Sweet Spots entitles you to 10 free ounces. I just earned 10 free ounces.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland's Flavor Quest is Back with More Flavors Inspired by the World

Fro-yo girl here. Get your froyo spoons ready for Yogurtland’s Third Annual Flavor Quest, which starts today. The Flavor Quest will bring 10 new flavors from 10 countries from March 2 to May 10. The Quest kicked off with four new flavors:

* Banana Pudding (US): I hate bananas but this flavor was pleasant for a banana flavor because of the addition of the vanilla notes that muted the banana

* Churro (Mexico): Sweet, creamy burst of cinnamon

* Cinnamon Coconut (Thailand): An unusual combination that works – it tastes more like coconut than cinnamon, the balance of cinnamon and coconut with the creamy yogurt works well

* Alphonso Mango Tart (India): Sweet like the mango fruit with a mild tartness

Real Reward members, each visit gets you closer to free froyo. Collect a sweet spot icon for every visit (max one icon per day) and earn 5 free ounces with 5 visits and 10 free ounces with 10 visits.

I didn’t spot any new toppings but heard that macarons would be offered with the froyo flavor inspired by France (starting March 30).

Also, the spoons are new – they have Yogurtland facts on the back now. For full Flavor Quest details, read the official press release below.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland’s Third Annual Flavor Quest Brings Culinary Highlights of the World to the Land of Frozen Yogurt

– Yogurtland Introduces First Cultured Gelato –

(IRVINE, CA) March 2, 2015 — Yogurtland’s big international flavor mixer, serving up sensational new flavors inspired by destinations from all around the world, arrives once again when Yogurtland’s third annual Flavor Quest begins March 2.

From March 2 to May 10, Yogurtland locations will take its valued frozen yogurt lovers on a global experience like no other. This culinary journey will introduce 10 completely new flavors, in honor of 10 countries around the world, adding them to its already impressive list of delicious tarts and tongue-tantalizing blends of frozen yogurt. One of these flavors, Peanut Nougat with Almond Butter and Honey, is the company’s first cultured gelato offering. This rich and delicious cultured gelato flavor is made with whole milk for a creamier, more indulgent taste.

And if that’s not enough, Yogurtland’s Real Rewards members will have the opportunity to enjoy their smooth treats for free.

Yogurtland’s Real Rewards members land first class every time they visit one of the deliciously vibrant locations. With each visit using the Real Rewards mobile app or by swiping their rewards card, members earn one Sweet Spot icon per visit. When five Sweet Spots are accumulated, five free ounces of yogurt are automatically rewarded. For intense cravings, ten Sweet Spots supplies 10 ounces of deliciousness.

Each must-try flavor will only be available for two to four weeks at a time before making way for the next honorary flavor. With all flavors mastered and finely tuned by Yogurtland’s very own chief flavorologist, Scott Shoemaker, the flavors being introduced into the spotlight for the first time ever are:

  • Churro – Churros, one of Mexican culture’s most iconic cinnamon infused, sugar coated hot pastries has finally found it’s way into yogurt form, and it’s about time.
  • Alphonso Mango Tart – Inspired by the lovely culture of India, this tropical-style tart is sure to transform any average dessertist into a bragging frozen yogurt nut.
  • Cinnamon Coconut – Playing tribute to the magnificence of Thailand, this perfectly spiced coconut recipe humbles any and all toppings.
  • Banana Pudding – Comfort food is an essential part of American culture, and this smooth and tasty recipe will play as a reminder of all things red, white and blue.
  • Peanut Nougat with Almond Butter and Honey Gelato – This flavor completes the creamy treat tripod with its Danish-inspired gelato packed with flavors that will have you calling this your new favorite.
  • Pineapple Sorbet – Inspired by the tropics of Brazil, this sorbet presents pineapple in all its sweet pucker-punching delight and puts it right into a cup.
  • Salted Dark Chocolate – In honor of the one of the finest culinary locations on the planet, France, Yogurtland’s flavorologists balanced perfect salt tones to complement the sweet melodies of dark cocoa.
  • Pom Berry Lemon Tart – What better way of admiring Egypt than flattering yogurt by incorporating the savory fruits that grow in this beautiful country.
  • Espresso Float – When one thinks of exquisite coffee, the bold, crafty and profound coffee of Italy comes to mind. This robust flavor is the center of this No Sugar Added (NSA) flavor.
  • Blood Orange Ice – In Spain, respect is found in honesty, and honestly this citrusy flavored frozen yogurt is flat out amazing.

New Yogurtland Spa Retreat Flavors & Purple Spoon

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland's Ultimate Summer continues with Spa Retreat inspired flavors and new collectible shimmery purple spoons.

* Mango peach tea sorbet “
lets you soak in the soothing blend of real mango, peach and refreshing white tea." It's a sweet refreshing flavor that mainly tastes like peach. The tea flavor was difficult to discern.

* Mudslide frozen yogurt  “
blends real cocoa, coffee beans and one of the world’s most beloved chocolate cookies for a flavor so smooth it will instantly melt all your stress away." Initially this flavor tastes like chocolate, but then you can taste the coffee and Oreo cookies. It's creamy and indulgent. I'd pair it with the new Oreo cookie disks and something crunchy like English toffee.

Remember to collect your Hot Spot icons with your Real Rewards app. Earn free froyo with every 3rd visit during the Ultimate Summer promotion.

Look for 2 new flavors and a new spoon on August 18.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtand Ultimate Summer Promotion Begins

Fro-yo girl here. It doesn’t feel like summer till Yogurtland announces its big summer promotion and it just happened. Yogurtland’s Ultimate Summer promotion features 10 new summer froyo flavors inspired by 5 vacation hot spots. Look for 2 new flavors and a new limited edition shimmery spoon every two weeks.

Real Reward members earn a Hot Spot icon stamp for every visit. Collect the stamps to earn rewards. Every three visits earns the best reward, free froyo.

First up: City Lights with a silver spoon and two new flavors: Cosmo Sorbet and Caramel Macchiato.

* Cosmo Sorbet made with real cranberries and fresh lime: This mocktail flavor contains no alcohol. The flavor is predominantly cranberry but it’s not as tart as you’d expect cranberry to be. The lime makes it extra refreshing. It’s smooth and not icy. It would pair well with tart flavors.

* Caramel Macchiato made with real espresso beans and creamy caramel flavor: It’s more caramel than espresso but you can definitely taste both. The caramel hits you first and espresso flavor lingers. It’s not bitter and I like how the coffee flavor makes it less sweet. I enjoyed it with crunchy English toffee bits. Pair it with chocolate anything and whipped cream.
