New Rumble Cups at Menchie’s

Fro-yo girl here. During a recent visit to Menchie’s, I noticed new cups for the animated movie about wrestling monsters, Rumble. I don’t recall hearing about Rumble or the new cup design. Rumble was released on December 15, 2021 on Paramount+. They cancelled the theatrical release, which probably explains why I didn’t hear about the movie. Anyway, the Rumble cup features Steve’s mix and Tentacular’s mix as well as pictures of the two wrestling monsters.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland Abominable Promotion Launches on September 2, 2019

Fro-yo girl here. It’s been a few years since Yogurtland’s last movie tie-in promotion featuring character spoons. The last one was DreamWorks Trolls in 2016. I’m happy to see a new movie tie-in. The new Yogurtland promotion for the animated movie, DreamWorks Abominable, launches on September 2. It features:

* Blueberry Avalanche Tart froyo: This seems to be Everest’s favorite flavor. It’s nonfat, gluten free, and made with real blueberry. It tastes like the regular Yogurtland Blueberry tart, a flavor that I really like. It’s thick, creamy, and full of tangy blueberry flavor. I'm told that they added more blueberry flavor, so it is a new flavor. Recommended toppings: mochi, blueberries, raspberries and Magic Snow Rings.

* Magic Snow Rings topping: These are white and blue sour raspberry gummy rings. They’re firm and chewy. Delicious!

* Two new collectible spoons: blue yeti named Everest and purple Yi (girl).

* Abominable limited edition collectible cup. The yeti is featured. I don’t know the names of any of the characters. There’s a mountain on the cup too. I’m guessing that it’s Mount Everest.

Yogurtland employees have cute blue Abominable t-shirts. Take your picture with Everest and share your froyo with him. Catch Abominable in theaters starting September 27.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s August Featured Flavors and Dora the Explorer Cup

Fro-yo girl here. Don’t you just love how a new month brings new froyo flavors? This must be my lucky month because I was able to find all three new Menchie’s flavors on day 1 of the promotion.

Gourmet Chocolate Gelato:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Gourmet Chocolate Gelato is Menchie’s first gelato. It has live and active cultures but no artificial colors or flavors. It was richer and thicker than their frozen yogurt. The chocolate flavor was mild and milky, like milk chocolate. Recommended toppings: Peanut butter sauce, Nutter Butter, chopped peanuts OR Heath and chopped almonds.

Milk Chocolate Caramel froyo made with Ghirardelli: The first flavor that struck me was the caramel, followed by the chocolate. The caramel wasn’t cloying or overwhelming. The texture was smooth and creamy. Recommended toppings: Chocolate shell, almonds, Nilla wafers

Fresh Squeezed Strawberry Lemonade sorbet: The sorbet was a pretty light pink color, icier in texture, of course. I like tangy lemonade and this lemonade was just sweet. Recommended toppings: Sour gummy candies.

These flavors are around for a limited time only, so try them before it’s too late. I also picked up a new Dora the Explorer cup, which promotes the new movie.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

New June Flavors at Menchie’s & New Peppa Pig Cup

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s has three new feature flavors for June and a new limited-edition cup design. The collectible cup features Peppa Pig and a few of her friends. Peppa Pig is holding a cone of cotton candy, which is appropriate since Menchie’s created the Cotton Candy frozen yogurt for her. There’s also a new topping, cotton candy fizzies.

Who is Peppa Pig? I only found out about her last year. She’s the star of a British animated series that debuted in 2004.

* Peppa Pig’s Cotton Candy froyo
: I was pleasantly surprised by this flavor. I don’t like cotton candy since it just tastes like sugar. Cotton Candy froyo is better than cotton candy because the yogurt mutes the cloying sweetness of cotton candy. And this flavor is nonfat, gluten-free, and contains no artificial colors or flavors. Recommended toppings: Sprinkles, Circus Animal Cookies, white chocolate chips

Last year was the year of Jolly Rancher flavored sorbets. This year, it’s Sour Patch Kids turn. First Orange Leaf came out with dairy-free Sour Raspberry. Menchie’s Blue Raspberry sorbet is made with Sour Patch Kids flavor. I’ve always loved Sour Patch Kids, but a big part of why I love them is the chewiness of the candy. That’s not present in a sorbet.

* Blue Raspberry sorbet: It was certainly sour and tangy in a Sour Patch Kids way. The bright blue color was scary, though I would have loved it as a child. The sorbet is nonfat, dairy-free, gluten-free. Recommended toppings: Fresh fruit and popping boba.

The third flavor is S’mores frozen yogurt made with Hershey’s milk chocolate and real graham cracker crumbs. I’m not a fan of s’mores because they’re gooey.

* S’mores froyo: S'mores was creamy and tasted like milk chocolate, maybe with marshmallow. I could not taste the graham cracker crumbs. S’mores froyo contains no artificial flavors or colors and no high fructose corn syrup. Recommend toppings: Chocolate shell, Nilla wafers, chocolate chips.

Menchie’s is also sponsoring a sweepstakes. The grand prize is a trip for 4 to Hersheypark & Hershey’s Chocolate World. I think you’re automatically entered when you used your Mysmileage account at Menchie’s.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s Detective Pikachu Cup & Reformulated Pomegranate Razz Sorbet

Fro-yo girl here. I returned to Menchie’s to get the new limited edition Pokemon Detective Pikachu cup. The movie comes out on May 10. Cute cup. There’s only one design and it features Pikachu wearing a detective cap, similar to Sherlock Holmes’s hat. He seems to be in a city at night.

I also tried the reformulated Pomegranate Razz sorbet. Pom Razz sorbet contains no artificial colors or flavors and no high fructose corn syrup. I don’t remember what the old formula tastes like since it’s sorbet and I usually don’t get sorbet. The sorbet was very flavorful and I could taste the pomegranate and raspberry. The texture was impressively thick and not watery at all. The color was very vibrant. It was a little too sweet for me, but most sorbets and even frozen yogurt flavors are.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s May Feature Flavors & New Cups: Chips Ahoy! Original Cookie, Pomegranate Razz Sorbet

Fro-yo girl here. Happy May! Menchie’s has one new and one reformulated flavor for May, Chips Ahoy! Original Cookie frozen yogurt (brand new) and Pomegranate Razz sorbet (reformulated). Both are available for a limited time.

It’s a challenge to find the latest flavors at the Menchie’s in my area. I like the Menchie’s Eagle Rock but they usually put the newest flavors several weeks late. Menchie’s South Pasadena usually has at least one of the new feature flavors at the beginning of each month. Right now, Menchie’s South Pasadena has Chips Ahoy! Original Cookie froyo but not Pomegranate Razz sorbet or the Detective Pikachu cups.

Chips Ahoy! Original Cookie frozen yogurt, made with Chips Ahoy! cookies, is lowfat and 130 calories per serving (4 fl oz). It’s been a long time since I’ve had Chips Ahoy! but it’s a taste that I haven’t forgotten. The Original Cookie froyo is mild and tastes more like cookie than chocolate – it has an extra sweet aftertaste with a baked cookie flavor reminiscent of Chips Ahoy! The texture was smooth. I didn't see any chocolate chips. Recommended toppings: chocolate chips, chocolate shell, Heath, mini M&Ms. I looked for Chips Ahoy! cookies at the toppings bar, but I didn't see any.

Pomegranate Razz sorbet has been reformulated and contains no artificial colors or flavors and no high fructose corn syrup. I’ll have to try it later.

There’s a new limited edition collectible cup design. The Detective Pikachu cup is for a new movie coming out on May 10. I’ll have to pick up my cups later as well.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s New Missing Link Cup and Sweepstakes

Fro-yo girl here. I went to a different Menchie’s and found the new Missing Link cups. It looks like there is one cup design and it features the main character of the new movie, Missing Link, which arrives in theaters on April 12. It looks like a cute animated movie. Mr. Link wants to meet his cousin, Yeti. He embarks on an adventure to find him. The Menchie’s cup encourages guests to embark on a flavor adventure.

I also noticed signs for the Menchie’s and Missing Link Adventure Sweepstakes. The grand prize is a trip to the Grand Canyon that includes 5 nights at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel, 4 people, hotel, airfare and a historic train experience. I think you’re automatically entered into the sweepstakes every time you use your My Smileage account. You can also enter to win on the Menchie’s website.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s New How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World Froyo Cups

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s has a new cup, inspired by the third movie of the How to Train Your Dragon movie franchise from DreamWorks Animation. I have’t seen the movie and I don’t know anything about the series, but the cups are limited edition. It looks like there’s one design. The cup features two dragons and two human characters.

Froyo cups are okay but froyo spoons are way better because they’re reusable.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s Sherlock Gnomes Cups

Fro-yo girl here. I swung by Menchie’s to pick up the limited edition Sherlock Gnomes cup. There were a few Sherlock Gnomes signs around the shop too. The cup is for the new children’s movie from Paramount, which comes out on March 23. I’d rather have a new spoon because you can’t reuse paper yogurt cups. Oh well.

On an interesting side note, Paramount also collaborated with Variety, the Children’s Charity. Collectible Sherlock Gnomes pins, on sale at movie theaters during Variety’s Gold Heart Campaign, will benefit Variety programs “that provide life-saving, life-changing, and life-enriching equipment and services to children who have a disability or are disadvantaged.” They should have made Menchie’s Sherlock Gnomes pins.

Also, I noticed the color of my green Menchie's spoon is different. It's darker for some reason. But everything else about the spoon is the same as before.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

New Flavors, New Cups, New Spoons and Hurricane Harvey Fundraiser at Menchie’s

Fro-yo girl here. Happy September! It’s also that time of the month when Menchie’s rolls out its new flavors. This month the new flavors are Chip’s Chocolate and Salted Maple Pecan.

Chip’s Chocolate: It’s made with real Ghirardelli chocolate and has not artificial colors, artificial flavors or high fructose corn syrup. It’s a rich chocolate flavor. Recommended toppings: Andes Mints, mini Hershey’s Kisses, brownies

Salted Maple Pecan: It’s made with real pecans, real maple syrup and real sea salt with no artificial colors and no high fructose corn syrup. It tasted like maple pecan frosting. The salt was subtle. Recommended toppings: Walnuts, graham cracker crumbs, Cool Whip, Butterfinger

There’s also a new promotion this month for Skylanders: Imaginators. Menchie’s has new Skylanders limited time cup design and Kaos spoons. I’ve never heard of Skylanders but it’s a video game for Nintendo, PlayStation, Wii and Xbox. The cup features two characters and the Kaos spoon is dark blue. Kaos is described as an evil Portal Master.

Also, Menchie’s is having a special fundraiser for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Menchie’s will donate 10% of their sales to The American Red Cross on September 9, to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. So, visit Menchie’s on 9/9, fill up your froyo cup and help spread smiles to others at the same time.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s August Flavors, Emoji Movie Promotion, American Heart Association Fundraiser

Fro-yo girl here. There’s a lot going on at Menchie’s this month. First, there are two new flavors, Original Strawberry and Pina Colada Sorbet. Some locations are offering a Pina Colada float (mine wasn’t). Next, they’re promoting The Emoji Movie with a limited edition cup design and two new limited edition Emoji spoons. The spoons feature two characters from The Emoji Movie. Finally, Menchie’s is accepting donations for the American Heart Association. If you donate, you’ll get a paper sign that they’ll post on the wall and a coupon for 20% off a future purchase.

New flavors:

Pina colada sorbet: It’s made with real pineapple, real coconut cream, no artificial colors and no high fructose corn syrup. The coconut cream gives it a richer, creamier texture. The tangy pineapple flavor is dominant but then the coconut cream is the flavor that lingers. Recommended toppings: maraschino cherries, pineapple, Nilla wafers.

Original strawberry: It’s made with real strawberries, no artificial colors, no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial flavors. I didn’t taste the yogurt and it seemed very sweet, creamy and heavy even though it is nonfat. Recommended toppings: Cool Whip, strawberries, sprinkles

The new cups feature three characters from The Emoji Movie.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl

New July Flavors at Menchie’s: Salted Caramel Pretzel, Farm Fresh Blueberry & Num Noms Makeover

Fro-yo girl here. It’s July 1st and that means that new flavors have arrived at Menchie’s. This month, there are two new flavors, Salted Caramel Pretzel and Farm Fresh Blueberry.

* Salted Caramel Pretzel frozen yogurt is made with real pretzels and caramel, with no artificial colors. It had quite a salty kick and the caramel flavor is pretty strong/intense. I couldn’t detect the pretzels though. The texture was creamy. It’s lowfat and kosher. Recommended toppings: Heath, almonds, pretzels and caramel sauce.

* Farm Fresh Blueberry frozen yogurt is made with real blueberries, no artificial flavors, no artificial colors and no high fructose corn syrup. It’s nonfat and kosher. It’s a pretty looking froyo with a smooth, creamy texture. It tasted like blueberry yogurt the kind you’d get from Yoplait or one of those brands that have more sugar. There was some tang but the sweetness really dominates. Recommended toppings: Fresh fruit for some tang.

It was exciting to see the Num Noms makeover. They had new Num Noms cups (2 limited edition designs) which aren’t scented (too bad), Num Noms door decals and a Num Noms poster. The employees wore blue Num Noms t-shirts. The Menchie’s Num Noms starter pack, available exclusively at Toys R Us, is not on the Toys R Us website yet, but it should arrive this month. You can order online and have it shipped to you or pick it up at your nearest Toys R Us.

Menchie’s New Nut Job 2 Cup and the Return of Oreo Flavors

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s has a new exclusive cup design that promotes the upcoming animated film, Nut Job 2 Nutty by Nature. Nut Job 2 is scheduled to be released on August 18, 2017. I only spotted one cup design. It features a lot of animal characters, including squirrels, dogs, a mouse, etc.

Oreo Just the Cookie and Just the Crème are back for a limited time only as well. I have a hard time deciding which one I like better but I’m leaning towards Just the Cookie. They taste better together.

P.S. A few months ago, the price went up at Menchie’s South Pasadena went up to 52 cents an ounce.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s March Flavors: Almond Amaretto & Cookie Dough, New Baby Boss Cups

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s feature flavors for March 2017 are Almond Amaretto and Cookie Dough.

* Cookie Dough is a lowfat flavor made with real semi-sweet chocolate chips. It does taste like cookie dough. The chocolate chip flavor is subtle. It seemed richer and sweeter than average. Recommended toppings: chocolate chips, almonds, Nilla wafers.

* Almond Amaretto is a lowfat, kosher frozen yogurt with no artificial colors or artificial flavors. Amaretto is an Italian almond liqueur. I don’t think I’ve ever had it but Almond Amaretto did have an extract/liqueur flavor. It is made without any alcohol. The flavor and texture were lighter than the Cookie Dough froyo but I preferred Almond Amaretto. Recommended toppings: almonds, Heath, Cool Whip.

I also picked up my limited edition cup for the upcoming movie, DreamWorks The Baby Boss. The movie comes out on March 31. The cups are available while supplies last at participating locations.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s January Flavors and Dragon Quest Builders

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s has two promotional, limited time flavors of the month: Carrot Cake and La Crème Brulee. I haven’t run into La Crème Brulee yet.

Carrot Cake is a low-fat flavor made with real carrots, cream cheese and cinnamon. I don’t eat carrot cake but I imagine the carrot flavor wouldn’t be that noticeable because of everything else in the cake. That’s the case with Carrot Cake frozen yogurt, which mainly tasted like cinnamon and cream cheese to me, followed by a cakey flavor. It seemed sweeter than usual, perhaps because of the cream cheese. It’s an indulgent flavor. Recommended toppings: almonds, white chocolate chips, Cool Whip.

Menchie’s has also partnered with Square Enix for the Dragon Quest Builders promotion. Dragon Quest Builders video game has exclusive in-game content from Menchie’s. Also, during the month of January, Menchie’s locations in the US will carry limited edition Dragon Quest Builders yogurt cups and in-store signage. There’s a Menchie’s sweepstakes for registered MySmileage members too. You can enter the sweepstakes at: http://registrationinfo.net/DQBsweeps

I picked up my Dragon Quest Builders cup and took pictures of the in-store signage.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s 2016 Holiday Spoon

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s is full of holiday spirit with new holiday cups and limited edition holiday spoons. The 2016 holiday spoon is red and it features Menchie in a swirly Santa hat holding a smiling gingerbread man.

The Holiday Celebration is also in full swing with four limited time flavors featured in November and four more coming in December. I’ve only seen two of the four flavors so far, Double Espresso Tiramisu and Dark Chocolate Cherry Brownie.

The November flavors are:

  • Double Espresso Tiramisu: the taste of the espresso is combined with the taste of ladyfinger cookies, it’s a nice balance – not super strong coffee/espresso but sweeter and more indulgent. Recommended toppings: Nilla wafers, almonds, Cool Whip
  • Dark Chocolate Cherry Brownie
  • Spiced Gingerbread Cookie
  • Dark Chocolate Mousse made from almond milk
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

New Angry Bird Spoons Arrive at Menchie’s: Pig

Fro-yo girl here. I’m not familiar with Angry Birds but I am a froyo spoon collector and it’s an exciting day when a new batch of limited edition frozen yogurt spoons is released. The latest Angry Birds spoon design features Pig. He looks like a pig but I guess he’s a bird without a beak? Oh wait, he isn’t a bird. He’s the enemy of the birds who tries to steal and eat their eggs.

Judging from the size of the spoon, Pig is a successful egg stealer. He’s one big (wide) spoon. The back of the spoon looks like the mirror image of the character on the front. His favorite froyo is Rich ‘n’Nutty Pistachio.

Menchie’s will release five limited edition spoon designs featuring different characters from the Angry Birds Movie. There will be a new spoon released every week. Here’s the schedule:
  • Red (May 15)
  • Pig (May 22)
  • Bomb (May 29)
  • Matilda (June 5)
  • Chuck (June 12)
That’s three more spoons to collect. I found the other Angry Birds cup design. Menchie's will release two new Angry Birds inspired flavors in June: Strawberry Greek and Fresh Lime Sorbet.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
