Yogen Früz launches 3 mouth-watering NÜ mixes
Available today...three brand new fro-yo flavor mixes from Yogen Früz: Piña Colada, Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Almond frozen yogurt.
P.S. They also have pumpkin pie fro-yo till Thanksgiving.
If you get a chance to try any of these, could you post an update? I am SO intrigued, but YFruz is super far away from me so I don't want to make the drive unless I know it'll be worth it. Is the pumpkin pie flavor a mix or does it come from the machine already pumpkin-flavored? I am also wondering the same thing about the Acai flavor.
Pumpkin pie is a mix. The blueberry acai isn't a mix (it's their top it style fro-yo). As for trying the NU mixes, I'm in the same boat you are. It's totally inconvenient for me to go to a YF location. Also with the mixed ones, you can't sample first...which concerns me. I'll try to go there but am not sure when I can with my demanding fro-yo schedule :-).
Oh, I totally didn't mean to make it seem as though I expected you to make a special trip there! I just meant in the event that you were already planning on going. :) I don't know that I would pay for any of the mix ones, either; I really like YF Top It, but was unimpressed with the one mixed creation I tried. I'll have to try the acai, though! Thanks for all the info--you're truly a rockstar!
I walked pass by the Tuttimelon self serve at New Montgomery St today. They have their door open and by the looks of it, they might be ready to open in like 2-4 weeks?!I'm not sure. I didn't see their yogurt machines but I did see where the gelato will be at.
Thanks, anonymous...I need to go downtown to see the new location...haven't been down there recently. I did drive by the new, not yet opened Yoppi location on Montgomery maybe a month ago.
Sorry to constantly be asking random questions, FroyoGirl, but do you know if the Pleasanton Cafe Delatti has no sugar added tart yogurt? Thanks so much!
"I'm thinking about going to downtown Berkeley alone on a weekend. Would you recommend it?"
Is this a fro-yo question? Otherwise, I'm not the right person to ask. I do go to Berkeley but not that often and usually during the day for fro-yo. Downtown (Shattuck/by the movie theater) seems fine to me at night.
I like questions. I haven't been to Delatti for a long time. I noticed that there is a no-sugar tart listed on their website. I don't recall seeing it but I actually plan on going there soon, so I'll report back.
Anonymous, I live in Oakland and visit Berkeley by myself all the time, both during the day and at night. I think finding parking is scarier than the city itself. :) You really don't have anything to worry about, especially if you're going during the day. Just hang out around campus / on the campus end of Shattuck and you will be totally fine--there are so many people milling around at all times that I've never felt unsafe. If you're planning on doing a Berkeley fro-yo tour, you'll be fine; all of the yogurt shops are clustered around high-traffic areas. Basically, I am in Berkeley alone at least 3+ times a week and have never had a problem. There are crazy homeless people, but most seem to be trapped in their own minds and aren't really malicious. There are also cops all over at pretty much all times.
Lolia, thanks! I know the other Delatti has (had?) it but I wasn't sure about Pleasanton.
Anonymous, Well, let's see. . . There are 2 Yogurtlands, both of which are standard. For the cheap factor, they're great, but I don't think their tart yogurt is anything to write home about. Yogurt Harmony has, I think, the best tart fro-yo in Berkeley. That would be my primary recommendation. Michelle's Yogurt & Sweets also has a pretty good tart, which they insist on calling "Mangoberry." Worth a try, though not as good as YoHarm. In my opinion, Ryno's and Papamingo are both pretty abysmal. They're both 30 cents an ounce now, but I'd recommend Yogurtland over both. Ryno's tastes okay, but it's super runny and sort of becomes syrupy as it melts (really quickly). Creations is another self-serve place on Shattuck. I'd rank it after Yogurtland. It's a little more expensive (38 cents an ounce, I think) than YLand. So here are my rankings: 1. Yogurt Harmony 2. Michelle's Yogurt & Sweets 3. Yogurtland 4. Creations 5. Ryno's 6. Papamingo
Oh! If you like really natural yogurt, try Bette's-to-Go on 4th St. in Berkeley (super ritzy area). They serve Strauss Organic Frozen Yogurt, which really tastes like good-quality yogurt frozen. Delish. I would rank this equal to Yogurt Harmony, if not better. Go before 4 or 5 thought, because they close early.
(All of these rankings are for tart yogurt. If you want sweet, go for the Yogurt Park experience. It's way cheaper than all the others and is really good, I think. Plus, it's a Berkeley institution.) Hope this helps!
I went to Delatti Pleasanton and asked about the no sugar added tart fro-yo. The employee didn't seem to know the answer, but he said he thinks the original is the no sugar added flavor. I didn't see any signs that indicated there was a no sugar added tart fro-yo. The original tart tastes like it has sugar. Sorry this isn't a more definitive answer.

YF Blueberry acai was good though Blush's blueberry acai is the best.

Anonymous, are you asking whether downtown Berkeley is safe for a person alone? Or. . .?

stellaincognita,
Yes, I want to know if downtown Berkeley is safe for a person who is going there alone and is not from Berkeley.
