If you’ve been wanting to try SweetFrogSweetFrog and live or visit the West Coast, you should know that SweetFrog has one location left on the West Coast and it’s in Victorville, Caliifornia, 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles, north of the San Bernardino mountains on the edge of the Mojave Desert. SweetFrog Victorville opened in 2015.

There were four other SweetFrog shops in California. The shops were in Camarillo, Lancaster, Palmdale, and Riverside. Riverside had the first SweetFrog shop in California.

• SweetFrog, 5225 Canyon Crest Dr, STE 90, Riverside, CA 92507, opened in 2012 and closed in 2019. It was the first SweetFrog that I ever visited in 2015.
• SweetFrog, 2306 Las Posas Rd Ste C, Camarillo, Suite C, Camarillo, CA 93010, was the fifth SweetFrog location in California. It opened in 2015 and closed in 2019.
• SweetFrog, 44758 Valley Central Way, Lancaster, CA 93536 opened in 2014. The name of the shop was changed to Sweet Bunnies Frozen Yogurt in 2023.
• SweetFrog, 38029 E 47th Ave Ste A, Palmdale, CA 93552, opened in 2013 and closed in 2023.

There are no other SweetFrog shops west of Texas.

SweetFrog American Red Cross Spoons

 

Fro-yo girl here. SweetFrog partnered with American Red Cross to promote water safety recently. The promotion included:

• SweetFrog American Red Cross water safety spoons. These were handed out on May 15, National Water Safety Day. The green spoons feature Scoop dressed as a lifeguard. The handle of the spoon says American Red Cross. The spoons are color-changing. They turn blue!
• Guests who donate to American Red Cross will receive SweetFrog coupons. SweetFrog will match the donations, up to $10,000. They’re accepting donations through August 15.
• As part of the American Red Cross June Swim Challenge, participants will receive Red Cross and sweetFrog branded merchandise
• Water safety nights hosted by SweetFrog at select locations
• Water safety at home activities on the SweetFrog website

SweetFrog’s New Gabby’s Dollhouse Spoon

 

Fro-yo girl here. Got my first new froyo spoon of 2022, thanks to my sweetest friend, Zelda Zonk. SweetFrog partnered with DreamWorks Gabby’s Dollhouse to introduce a special froyo swirl, Rainbow Sprinkle Surprise, a combination of Pomberry Punch and Cotton Candy, and color-changing Gabby’s Dollhouse pink spoons. Gabby’s Dollhouse is an animated TV series with different kitty characters. I don’t know any of the characters.

The spoon says DreamWorks Gabby’s Dollhouse and has a cat character. It says SweetFrog on the back.

SweetFrog is also giving away a Gabby’s Dollhouse prize package with paint sheets, stickers, crayons, hair ties, shoe laces and a SweetFrog gift card. The deadline to enter is February 28, 2022.

The new spoons are available at SweetFrog for a limited time only.

New Froyo Spoons of 2019

Fro-yo girl here. Froyo spoon collectors, I’ve been tracking the collectible new froyo spoons that were released this year in the US and this is the list that I’ve come up with.

I noticed some new spoons outside the US. Moyo (Mexico and other countries in Latin America) had Abominable spoons and spoons for another cartoon that I didn’t recognize. Llaolao had a special white 10th anniversary spoon.

Froyo Spoon Collection: sweetFrog The Hungry Caterpillar Spoon

Fro-yo girl here. sweetFrog recently launched a promotion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the award-winning children’s picture book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, in partnership with Penguin Young Readers. The promotion included a contest, summertime swirl (The Very Berry Apple Swirl), new TVHC spoons, and in-store events. The Very Berry Apple Swirl, a swirl of Farm Stand Strawberry Ice Cream and Green Apple Sorbet, is available until August 24th.

Thanks to my froyo loving friend and avid froyo spoon collector, Zelda Zonk, I was able to add the sweetFrog The Hungry Caterpillar yogurt spoons to my froyo spoon collection. Very exciting! I wanted to share a few pictures of the spoon. They’re plastic and don’t appear to be compostable.

The Arizona Diamondbacks introduced the Churro Dog this year, featuring a chocolate glazed donut stuffed with a churro topped with froyo, caramel and chocolate sauce.

In Ada, Oklahoma you don’t have to leave the restaurant, Fresco’s Mexican Grill &Gourmet Frozen Yogurt, to get your Mexican food and frozen yogurt.

You can always buy a churro and stick it in your favorite cup of froyo.

First Visit to sweetFrog Frozen Yogurt

Fro-yo girl here. I finally made it to a sweetFrog location. The fast growing self-serve frozen yogurt chain first entered the California market in March 2013 and now has locations in Lancaster, Palmdale, Riverside and Victorville. The company, which is based in Richmond, VA, was founded in 2009 and has grown to 348 stores. sweetFrog was recently acquired by private equity firm, Boxwood Capital Partners LLC.

“sweetFrog prides itself on providing a family-friendly environment where customers can enjoy soft-serve frozen yogurt, gelato and sorbets with the toppings of their choice. The company was founded on Christian principles and seeks to bring happiness and a positive attitude into the lives of the communities it calls home. The F.R.O.G. in sweetFrog stands for Fully Rely On God, and we show that by being a good neighbor everywhere we move into. Through local partnerships, fundraisers, and much more, our stores become part of the fabric that wraps their communities.”

Froyo & God? The Riverside location isn’t shy about loving God. The product corner which features sweetFrog/God merchandise you can buy features the mascots, Scoop and Cookie, wearing clothing that mentions God and the t-shirts they sell say Fully Rely on God. The Styrofoam froyo cups mention John 3:16 (chapter 3, verse 16 of the Gospel of John).

It’s a little odd…but what you really want to know about is the froyo. The original tart was overly icy, not smooth and lacking a rich yogurt flavor. It was also too soft. The peanut butter was creamy but overly sweet. The toppings bar was standard – fruit, popping boba, mochi, syrups, nuts, candy, cookies, cheesecake, etc.

I can see why kids would like this place – it’s cheerful with pastel colors (inspired by Pinkberry?), a green tile wall that looks like Yogurtland’s and frog mascots, plus there are plenty of frozen yogurt flavors and toppings to choose from for 42 cents/ounce. However, sweetFrog doesn’t differentiate itself from other self-serve chains (other than by offering God/froyo merchandise). Even the merchandise they offer isn’t as cute as Menchie’s.

I was surprised that sweetFrog still uses Styrofoam cups and non-compostable spoons.
