Froyo Wish List for 2015

Fro-yo girl here. It’s time for the seventh edition of my annual wish list. Last year I wished for:

* Froyo pie or cake. Mr. Froyo made a froyo pie for me.

* Yolato frozen yogurt gelato bars in CA. I don’t think this happened (sad face). The Yolato bars are the best.

* Froyo made out of Icelandic yogurt (skyr). This does exist (e.g., in Denmark you can go to a supermarket and get a tub of Cheasy frozen skyr) but I certainly haven’t seen it in California.

* Froyo spoons. I did get plenty of new ones including some from Seattle, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Greece.

Some of my wishes from 2013 and earlier haven’t come true either. I’m still waiting to be served by a robot/frozen yogurt vending machine. On the other hand, I had wishes come true that I hadn’t even thought of, like visiting Yogurtland HQ, judging frozen yogurt at the NRA Show and attending the Critics Choice TV Awards (free froyo included).

Here’s my froyo wish list for 2015:

* Yogorino (or something similar to Yogorino) come back…Mr. Froyo misses you.

* More froyo HQ visits

* Making frozen yogurt the official state food of California

* A Food Network show dedicated to frozen yogurt or a froyo truck on the Great Food Truck Race

Froyo Wish List for 2014

Fro-yo girl here. It’s the new year and time to share my wish list for 2014. These are the things I hope to experience in 2014.
  • Froyo pie or cake. I want one! It seems like you can’t get just one slice unfortunately.
  • Expanded distribution for Yolato frozen yogurt gelato bars. My fingers are crossed that I’ll see them in California
  • Froyo made out of Icelandic yogurt (aka skyr). I love skyr (Siggi’s and Smari)...would love to see it used to make froyo.
  • Froyo spoons. I can never get enough of cute froyo spoons.
Last year my wish list was:
  • Collect more new froyo spoons (accomplished)
  • Try Yolato frozen yogurt gelato bars and Pinkberry Greek (accomplished)
  • Be served by Frobot rather than a human being (didn't happen)
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yolato Frozen Yogurt Gelato Bar Review

Fro-yo girl here. I was recently lucky enough to be the recipient of Yolato frozen yogurt gelato bars. The bars are all natural, rbst free, cholesterol free, kosher and only 80 calories each. Each box contains four 61g bars. The frozen yogurt gelato bars are available in three flavors: Pomegranate, Naturalato, Blueberrato. I ate three and that’s still fewer calories than a typical cup of frozen yogurt.

* Naturalato: The bar has a soft, light texture (but maintains its shape). It’s creamy yet has that refreshing edge of a good frozen yogurt. It’s sweet but mildly tangy with a pleasant, sweet, clean aftertaste. It’s very light thanks to the gelato and melts in your mouth quickly.

* Blueberrato: It’s a pretty bar with white and purple swirls. Blueberrato combines frozen yogurt gelato and blueberry acai sorbet. The texture is soft and light like the Naturalato. It’s sweeter than the Naturalato but still has that mild tanginess. The blueberry flavor is discernable but not so strong that you can’t appreciate the yogurt flavor and the naturalato flavor.

* Pomegranate: The award-winning Pomegranato is my favorite of the three because it was the tangiest and also seemed the creamiest. It had that same light, soft, melt in your mouth texture with white and reddish pink swirls (pomegranate sorbet). The sweetness and yogurt tang linger on your palate.

Having tried a variety of frozen yogurt bars, I’ve found that some are really icy and hard, some don’t taste like yogurt, and others might be healthy are lacking in flavor. Yolato provides a wonderful tasting bar that has the tanginess and flavor of frozen yogurt with a soft, light, silky texture. It's genius to combine frozen yogurt, gelato and sorbet in one bar.

Ingredients (Naturalato): Skim milk and milk, sugar, corn syrup, cultured skim milk, maltodextrin, stabilizer/emulsifier, citric acid, natural flavors, vitamin A palmitate, yogurt cultures

5 out of 5 stars

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo Wish List for 2013

Fro-yo girl here. Happy Fro-yo New Year! It’s time for a look back at my old 2012 wish list and time to announce my wishes for 2013.

I didn’t ask for much last year and most of my fro-yo wishes came true.Yogurtland opened in SF! Pinkberry opened in Union Square SF! I found delicious fro-yo popsicles that aren’t from Korea (thanks Blue Bunny). The only 2012 wish that didn’t come true was the invention of fro-yo mochi. It might exist but I haven’t seen it.

It's a new year and time for my new fro-yo wish list. It’s simple this year.

* Collect more new logo fro-yo spoons
* Try Yolato frozen yogurt gelato bars and Pinkberry Greek
* To be served by Frobot rather than a human being

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Thank You Yolato!

Fro-yo girl here. I didn't make it to Pinkberry last night for the free mini mango fro-yo. I wasn't in the mood to make the 1 hour drive after work and wait in a long line for a mini size...but I'm sure I'll try their mango flavor soon.

Sometimes I'm lucky enough to score free fro-yo merchandise without making an effort at all. I wanted to thank Yolato for the free Yolato t-shirt. The shirt comes in their signature colors - juicy orange, lime and yogurt, I mean, white. Yolato Express locations have really taken off in NY and NJ. The next time I'm out there or passing through at JFK Terminal 1, I'm going to finally try Yolato. Or maybe I'll see their gelato bars in CA before that happens? I am very anxious to try Yolato.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

P.S. Free fro-yo tees gratefully accepted.

Fro-yo Girl’s 2010 Wish List

Fro-yo girl here. A new year of fro-yo is upon us accompanied as usual with hopes and dreams for a better future. What does fro-yo girl wish for in 2010?

* More Yogurtland signature fro-yo spoons. These are the cutest spoons and I’m addicted to them now. If other places come out with super cute fro-yo spoons, I’d be even happier.
* Mobile fro-yo trucks. 2009 was the year of the mobile food trend and Washington DC has a fro-yo van but there isn’t one driving around the Bay Area yet.

I don’t have as many wishes this year because so many of my wishes came true in 2009. I think fro-yo popsicles will soon be in my hands, once Yolato finds a West Coast distributor. I already have dozens of fro-yo t-shirts, a fro-yo umbrella (thanks Tuttimelon), a fro-yo tote bag, fro-yo pins, and fro-yo candy. Fro-yo is at the airport (LAX) and it's probably too much to hope to find it and a toppings cart on the plane. Multiple people have mentioned wanting to see a fro-yo eating contest but I think that could be messy. I'll be content with watching Fro-yo Boy eating a Sumo Bowl at Tuttimelon.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yolato Frozen Yogurt Gelato Bars

Fro-yo girl here. Yolato frozen yogurt gelato bars come in two flavors, Naturalato and Pomegranato. You can get single popsicles or 4 packs at convenience and grocery stores in NY. They look sooooo good. I wonder why we don't have tart frozen yogurt popsicles here in California? Popsicles are so convenient. I can picture myself having a fro-yo popsicle while watching a movie or running out the door on my way somewhere.

I heard from Yolato. They're looking for West Coast distribution right now. Keeping my fingers crossed.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
