Yogurtland Eagle Rock Now Offers Froyo & Ice Cream Sandwiches, Other Developments

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland Eagle Rock just added something new to the grab & go freezer, froyo and ice cream sandwiches. These look like they were made by the store employees. They used large OREO cookie wafers and sandwiched froyo and soft serve ice cream in the middle. The sandwiches are just $2.50 each. I saw three flavors: cookies & cream froyo, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate ice cream. The sandwiches are individually wrapped in clear plastic bags.

I also noticed that this and other Yogurtland locations have run out of Yogurtland spoons and are offering generic spoons instead. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that happen.

Also, Yogurtland locations are not selling physical gift cards because they’re switching to another gift card system. You can still buy Yogurtland egift cards though.

NEW Jeni’s Frozen Dessert Sandwiches, Exclusively at Whole Foods

Fro-yo girl here. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams recently released three new frozen dessert sandwiches, and they’re available exclusively at Whole Foods. Two of the three sandwiches feature froyo!

The sandwiches are:

• Mint Chocolate Truffle: Palate-cooling peppermint cream with dark chocolate cookies
• Key Lime Pie: Tropical, tart, and uber creamy key lime with graham cracker cookies (contains yogurt)
• Triple Berry Tart: Sweet-tart and ultra-lush purple berry cream with chocolate cookies (contains yogurt)

One box contains three individually wrapped sandwiches. The MRSP is $7.99. Each sandwich is 3.5 fl oz. I found all three sandwich varieties at Whole Foods in Pasadena, CA. They were on sale for $7.19/box.

Key Lime Pie: This was my favorite sandwich. Key lime pie is one of my favorite flavors and this one delivered on the tart key lime flavor that I love. In fact, I’d say that the flavor was very tangy and you could really taste the lime. The texture of the froyo was creamy and not too soft or too hard. The graham cracker cookies were soft and tasty. The combination of the cookies with the tart key lime froyo also really worked. And I liked the size – not too tiny but not huge. One sandwich is 210 calories, 8g total fat, 34 total carbs, 19g total sugars, and 3g protein. 5 out of 5 stars.

Triple Berry Tart: This sandwich was good but I didn’t enjoy the cookie/froyo combination as much and the froyo wasn’t as tangy, even though there was less sugar than the key lime pie sandwich. The froyo is made with blackberries, blueberries, and red raspberries and the chocolate cookie was soft. The tartness was mild but the berry ice cream was creamy, rich, and fruit-forward. One sandwich was 210 calories, 9g total fat, 32g total carbs, 17g total sugars, and 4g protein. 4 out of 5 stars.

I remember when Jeni’s used to have macaroon and cookie ice cream sandwiches. Haven’t seen any of those for years, unfortunately. They were so good! I'm thrilled to see that Jeni's has new froyo sandwiches.

NEW Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt Sandwiches Review

Fro-yo girl here. New Yasso products always seem to take awhile to arrive at my local Target (in Southern California). I started looking for Yasso’s new Frozen Greek Yogurt sandwiches as soon as I read about the launch in late October 2020. I checked a few Target locations in person – no luck.

The sandwiches feature Greek froyo wedged between two soft chocolate cookies and are available exclusively at Target. The retail suggested price is $5.99/pack. A pack contains four sandwiches. Each sandwich is individually wrapped and the wrappers have cute sayings.

I had pretty much given up on finding the Frozen Greek Yogurt sandwiches until a recent search on the Target app revealed that the new Sunset Blvd. (Los Angeles) location actually has them in stock. The other 20+ locations near me do not have them in stock.

It turns out that the Target on Sunset Blvd. just opened in late October 2020, after 13 years. Yes, it took 13 years for that Target location to open. But the good news is that it’s huge and has Yasso products that other Target locations do not carry. It also has amazing views of the Hollywood Hills, including the Hollywood sign and the Yogurtland across the street.

Target Sunset had Yasso Mint Chocolate Chip and Vanilla Bean sandwiches for $6.49/box (the Target price online is $5.29). Okay, so Target Sunset is more expensive. The sandwiches are small (3 fl oz) and 100 – 120 calories each. They’re made with real Greek yogurt, no artificial or high intensity sweeteners, and live and active cultures.

Mint Chocolate Chip Sandwich: It’s described as mint frozen Greek yogurt and chocolate flavored chips wedged between two soft chocolate wafers. The cookies were similar to the kind that I associate with ice cream sandwiches – soft and they tend to stick to your fingers. Sure enough, Yasso’s cookies stuck to my fingers. The filling was enjoyable – their mint froyo is refreshing, firm, and creamy and I liked the additional texture of the tiny chocolate flecks, aka chocolate flavored chips. However, their 2017 froyo sandwiches had a better cookie (firmer, like Oreos), so I liked those better than the 2020 version. One cookie sandwich is 120 calories, 2g total fat, 21g total carbs, 12g total sugars and 4g protein.

Vanilla Bean Sandwich: The froyo was a little softer than the mint chocolate chip. It was creamy and had a strong vanilla flavor with lots of visible vanilla bean specks. The soft chocolate cookie was the same as the kind used in the Mint Chocolate Chip sandwich. The Oreo style cookie from Yasso 2017 was better tasting and had a better texture. One cookie sandwich is 100 calories, 1.5g total fat, 20g total carbs and 11g total sugars.

Menchie’s Treats to Go Fruit Bars and Fro-yo Sandwiches Review

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s recently introduced five new frozen “Treats to Go.” These treats are available in the freezer section of participating Menchie’s locations. The fruit bars, which come in single flavor boxes with 6 bars per box, come in coconut, mango, and strawberry. Made with no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, and no high fructose corn syrup, the bars are gluten free and vegan. The frozen yogurt cookie sandwiches come in single flavor boxes with four sandwiches per box. There are two flavors, Vanilla Snow and Milk Chocolate. The Menchie’s that I visited was selling the fruit bars for $5.99/box and the fro-yo sandwiches for $6.49/box.

Each fruit bar is 1.75 fl oz. I tried the strawberry fruit bar. It was good – it tasted natural like sweetened strawberry puree. I could see some strawberry seeds. It was sweet and a little tangy. The bar was firm and icy. It melted slowly. One bar was 50 calories, with 11g total sugars and fat free.

Ingredients: Strawberries, water, sugar, corn syrup solids, natural flavors, citric acid, beet juice concentrate, stabilizer (guar gum, xanthan gum).

I like how the first ingredient was strawberries. With Popsicle bars, the first ingredient is water, then sugar. Even with Outshine strawberry bars, the first ingredient is water, then strawberries. Menchie’s fruit bars have more fruit.

I also purchased the Vanilla Snow fro-yo sandwiches. The fro-yo sandwich featured two chocolate chip cookies, about 3 inches in diameter, and a thick layer of vanilla froyo with a fudge swirl in the middle. The cookies were soft with crunchy chocolate chips. The vanilla frozen yogurt flavor was mild with a creamy, soft texture. The yogurt held its shape and was a little chewy. I could not taste yogurt and the flavor of the cookie was the dominant flavor. The softness reminded me of cookie dough. The fudge swirl made it more interesting and there wasn’t so much that it was overwhelming. I thought it was a good, sweet, decadent froyo sandwich. One sandwich is 4.2 oz and has 310 calories, 11g total fat, 48g total carbohydrate, and 35g total sugars.

Ingredients: Vanilla yogurt (pasteurized & cultured skim milk, sugar, cream, corn syrup, whey, non fat dry milk, stabilizer & emulsifier (microcrystalline cellulose, mono & diglycerides, cellulose gum, guar gum, carrageenan, pectin, standardized with maltodextrin), artificial flavor, chocolate chunk cookies (enriched flour (wheat flour, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, chocolate chunks (sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, vanilla extract), palm oil, sugar, butter, eggs, invert syrup, salt, natural flavor, whey, baking soda), fudge swirl (water, sugar, natural flavor, brown sugar, non fat dry milk, sunflower lecithin).

New Yasso Flavors, Review of Black Rasperry Chip Bars & Mint Sandwiches

Fro-yo girl here. Yasso recently expanded their offerings, introducing three new bar flavors: S’mores, Toffee Caramel Chocolate Chip, Black Raspberry Chip and their first froyo sandwiches, available in Mint and Vanilla.

I spotted a few of their new products at Target in Fremont, CA. That Target had all the new products except for S’mores bars. Each package was priced at $3.99. A box comes with four bars or four sandwiches.

Toffee Caramel Chocolate Chip sounds super sweet to me, so I opted for the Black Raspberry Chip bars.

* Black Raspberry Chip bars: These are froyo popsicles. The texture of the bar was creamy, soft and light. The raspberry flavor was present but not very strong. The dark and white chocolate chips were small and crunchy. The yogurt flavor was very mild. The flavor was not tangy at all but was sweeter than I expected. It’s still a nice light treat at 100 calories, 2g total fat and 14g of sugars. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Vanilla froyo/ice cream sandwiches are commonplace, so I wanted to try the mint. Also, chocolate and mint make a good pair.

* Mint froyo sandwiches: The sandwich is small compared to the other ice cream sandwiches on the market. The dark chocolate cookie looks and tastes like a soft Oreo cookie. It’s a great cookie and it didn’t get too mushy or sticky. The layer of froyo was pretty thin. The mint flavor was natural and pleasant. The texture was smooth and creamy. The cookies complemented the froyo. One sandwich is 120 calories with 3.5g total fat and 7g of sugars. I liked my froyo sandwich more than the Black Raspberry Chip bar. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Yogurtland Testing Gelato Sandwiches

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland is currently testing a new offering, gelato sandwiches. They’re sold by the box, with four vanilla gelato chocolate chip sandwiches per box, for $5.95. There’s just one flavor at the moment and you can find them in the freezer at Yogurtland CSUF (Cal State Fullerton) and Seal Beach, CA. 

The chocolate chip cookies were thin and soft. For some reason my cookies were also wet and soggy – perhaps because it took two hours for me to transport them home (but I had them in an ice chest and they didn’t look like they melted). I liked the firm crunchy chocolate chips. I cranked up the freezer and tried the sandwich again – the cookies were still very soft and even oily but not as soggy. They’re like big cookie dough discs which is great if you like cookie dough. The vanilla gelato wasn’t smooth in texture, which is unusual since Yogurtland’s yogurts and gelato are always smooth. It was gritty/sandy; the flavor was fine though pretty sweet. The flavor of the chocolate chip cookies dominated the flavor of the gelato. The flavor of the sandwich was fine but the texture wasn’t what I expected.

Each sandwich is 4.8 fl oz. One sandwich is 300 calories, 12g of fat, 32g of sugar and 6g of protein. The vanilla gelato has live and active cultures.

Ingredients: Cultured gelato (pasteurized & cultured milk, skim milk, sugar, cream, dextrose, whey, stabilizer (mono & diglycerides, locust bean gum, guar gum), vanilla extract), Cookie (enriched wheat flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate (Vitamin B1), riboflavin (Vitamin B2), folic acid), brown sugar, chocolate chunks (sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, dextrose, soy lecithin an emulsifier, vanilla), palm oil, sugar, butter, eggs, invert syrup, salt, natural flavor, whey, baking soda.
