New at Yogurtland: Mixed Berry Smoothie Bowl

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland launches a new product today, smoothie bowls. The mixed berry smoothie bowl features raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and banana. It’s vegan, nonfat, gluten free and no sugar added. Mixed berry smoothie bowl comes out of the regular soft serve machine. There’s a new plant-based topping as well, chia pudding – made with oat milk and chia seeds.

Mixed berry smoothie bowl: I don’t eat smoothie bowls, but I have had many fruit smoothies. I found the new flavor to be blander than I expected. I could taste the berries and the banana flavor wasn’t too strong, but it tasted muted and watery. The texture was icier. I did appreciate how it wasn’t as sweet. Adding yogurt or any milk alternative would have made it less watery.

There’s a new froyo spoon too. It looks like the current logo spoon, only it’s red. My Yogurtland didn’t have the spoons yet. It looks like there's a new cup design for the smoothie bowl as well, but I haven't seen it at my Yogurtland yet. A wider, flatter bowl would have been nice if they really want to encourage people to build a smoothie bowl.

The new chia pudding topping was pleasant and mild. It adds some texture and makes whatever you’re eating more filling.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Pressed Juicery Testing New Products, Overnight Oats and Chia Pudding

Fro-yo girl here. During my recent visit to the Pressed Juicery in Hollywood to get my Pressed Freeze, I spotted a sign for overnight oats and chia pudding. I haven’t seen that sign at the other Pressed Juicery locations that I’ve been to. They had four varieties for $5 each:

  • Almond Vanilla Chia Pudding with Berries
  • Lemon & Blueberry Overnight Oats
  • Coconut Chia Pudding with Blueberries
  • Peanut Butter & Banana Overnight Oats

The price seems very reasonable. I didn’t try it but I should have bought one for later. I made overnight oats once, but I didn’t like the mushy texture at all. Chia pudding has some texture that overnight oats lack.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Kreation Organic Persian Yogurt

Fro-yo girl here. Kreation Organic just opened in Pasadena, CA. I thought it was just a juice shop, but it has much more than juice. The refrigerated section has cold pressed juices, almond milk, housemade yogurt, salads, meals, snacks, desserts, etc. You can also order custom juices and acai/healthy bowls with different bases, organic coffee drinks, teas, etc. They also had snacks like dried fruit, kale chips, protein/energy balls, gluten free cookies, etc.

And yes, they make their own line of yogurt, called Yogi. It’s raw, gluten free, organic, and probiotic. They come in heavy glass jars. A jar of Yogi is $7.95.

* Vanilla yogi: The vanilla flavor is mild. It tastes like cinnamon spiced almond milk. The chia seeds don’t have much flavor, but they add texture and thicken the yogurt. The yogurt itself is quite thin, so it’s like a yogurt soup. I’m not used to such runny yogurt but the flavor was definitely good and the chia seeds make it filling. It’s like a chia seed pudding that’s slightly sweet and tangy. Ingredients: almonds, chia seeds, raw honey, vanilla extract, Ceylon cinnamon, probiotics.

* Strawberry yogi: The strawberries are pureed and blended throughout the yogurt. It tasted like strawberries and honey. The flavor was sweet and slightly tangy. The texture was thin and soupy again, but thickened by the chia seeds. Ingredients: almonds, strawberries, chia seeds, raw honey probiotics.

Kreation describes their yogurt as: “The original infusion of probiotics and protein is the perfect snack! Our housemade Persian Yogurt contains the active probiotic cultures that regulate digestion, reduce the effects of lactose intolerance, and help prevent colon cancer. Packed with protein from the yogurt and chia seeds, a pot of our Persian yogurt can substitute a meal without leaving you hungry. Great for breakfast!”

Yogi flavors:

  • Vanilla
  • Strawberry
  • Mango
  • Matcha pineapple
  • Cacao almond

Yogi yogurt is tasty but different than the other yogurts that I’m used to eating. I would definitely recommend topping Yogi with fresh fruit. Kreation offers free local delivery and currently has 15 locations in Southern California.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
