Xinjiang Freeze-Dried Yogurt Cheese Review

Fro-yo girl here. Xinjiang is a province in Northwest China that’s known for its yogurt cheese. They’ve been making yogurt cheese for thousands of years. Scientists have found Xinjiang cheese that’s over 3,600 years old.

While I was at DuoDuo Snacks in Temple City, I spotted Xinjiang Freeze-Dried Yogurt Cheese. The product is imported from Xinjiang and made with fresh cow’s milk cheese that is freeze-dried without preservatives. The ingredients are simple – milk, cultures, and sugar. One 100g box was $7.49.

The box contains individual pouches. One pouch has about 4 small cubes of freeze-dried cheese. One serving (the entire box) is 530 calories, 28g total fat, 56g total carbs, 13g protein, and 23g total sugars.

Freeze-dried yogurt cheese: The cube is crispy but it becomes creamy as it melts in your mouth. It tastes like rich milk with a cheesy flavor. It is sweet yet tangy. The milky flavor lingers. It’s good. I wish it had less sugar though.

The yogurt cheese is supposed to be good as a calcium supplement or as a healthy snack.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
