Future Fro-yo Shop Picture: Tutti Frutti Montclair Village

Fro-yo girl here. Oakland seems to agree with Tutti Frutti as it plans to add another location, this time in the Montclair Village neighborhood. The new Tutti Frutti location takes over the space left vacant by Montclair Malt Shop, which served ice cream and later frozen yogurt. It will be about a block from another self-serve frozen yogurt shop, Yogofina.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

New Frozen Yogurt Association for Store Operators, Suppliers & Frozen Yogurt Fans

Fro-yo girl here. The big day is finally here after months of research, planning and preparation...the International Frozen Yogurt Association (IFYA) is launching today!

The IFYA will promote the success of the frozen yogurt industry by recognizing quality frozen yogurt stores, increasing the access to quality frozen yogurt information and educating and engaging frozen yogurt consumers. Membership is free and open to anyone interested in frozen yogurt. I’d like the IFYA to be fun and helpful for everyone who enjoys frozen yogurt.

As for my personal blog, I’ll continue to write new blog posts for Fro-yo Girl Speaks. The IFYA blog will cover IFYA news, profile the movers and shakers of the frozen yogurt world, etc. I’ve decided to convert my existing Twitter (@froyogirl) and Pinterest accounts to IFYA/Fro-yo Girl accounts. You can also follow the IFYA on Instagram and Facebook. I’ll continue to tweet about frozen yogurt news and events and pin pretty cups of frozen yogurt. Lately I’ve been pinning frozen yogurt shop logos, frozen yogurt trucks, and pictures of frozen yogurt shops.

Finally, I wanted to thank the following frozen yogurt people for their support and inspiration over the years:
Marc Duschenes, Ariel Ford, Donna Hudson, Jane Kim, Roy Lam, Kim Larson, Jonathan Rim, Mike Woodson, Tyler Bargas, Barbara Rhoades, Jason Rhoades, and the IFYA’s founding sponsor, Jeff Resnick of Forte Supply. Friends and family members, thank you for putting up with all my frozen yogurt talk.

Please visit the IFYA website and sign up for a free membership today!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Marvin the Martian Arrives at Yogurtland

Fro-yo girl here. The Martian invasion of Earth has commenced! The new Marvin the Martian inspired Yogurtland Looney Tunes "Flavors with Character" items arrived today.

Here’s
the new MM spoon!

Marvin’s favorite Yogurtland flavor is Kosmic Fruit Kaboom Sorbet. What is Kosmic Fruit Sorbet? It’s unique like Marvin: pineapple, lime, banana and spinach. I personally find bananas on the top of my list of least favorite things to eat but I sampled the sorbet which has a pretty light green color and the banana was the least noticeable flavor. The pineapple and lime are the most noticeable and there's an aftertaste of spinach.

Earthlings can enjoy their Kosmic Fruit Kaboom Sorbet with an out of the world explosive topping, Green Apple Pop Rocks, sold separately for 59 cents.

My Yogurtland didn't have the Marvin the Martian cup today.

Remember to scan the QSR code. Collect 4 codes and get 4 free ounces of fro-yo, 6 codes gets you 6 ounces of free fro-yo.

Next up: Tweety Bird’s Lemon Cream Cookie on August 5

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Summer Fro-yo Flavors

Fro-yo girl here. It’s been a busy summer for frozen yogurt and the perfect time to try new summer inspired frozen yogurt flavors, including:

* MENCHIE’S: Menchie’s partnered with the Smurfs 2 movie and introduced a Smurfy new flavor, Smurfberry Blast

* ORANGE LEAF: Root beer float frozen yogurt is available for a limited time.
* PINKBERRY: Last summer Pinkberry came out with Summer Strawberry. This year they introduced Cherry Pinkberry. It’s light, refreshing, tart and fresh.
* TCBY: They introduced the refreshing new Wildberry Greek frozen yogurt on the first day of summer.
* YOGURTLAND: Yogurtland gave us three summer refreshers frozen yogurt flavors in late May: Orangesicle, Root beer float and Hibiscus passion fruit sorbet.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Happy Birthday Easy Breezy! And a New Location is Coming!

Fro-yo girl here. Happy birthday Easy Breezy!!!! Yes it was a year ago on 7/13/2012 when Easy Breezy first opened its doors. I remember going there on that day and getting a cup of Lime and Plain tart frozen yogurt. So amazing.

Guess what? They’re opening another location! This one will be taking over the old Tutti Frutti location (ironically it was a card shop, not Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt) in the Inner Sunset. There’s a small sign in the window. They’re hoping to open this fall.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Muller Greek Corner & FrutUp Review

Fro-yo girl here. Muller Yogurt, the German yogurt brand, was introduced to the US market earlier this year by Quaker. The yogurt is currently made in Germany but production will shift to upstate NY later this year. All Muller yogurt products are certified Kosher and have live and active cultures.

I spotted Muller Corner, Muller Greek Corner and FrutUp at my local Safeway store. Muller Corner features lowfat yogurt and a topping (fruit or cereal) in a separate compartment. Greek  Corner is similar only with Greek style yogurt. FrutUp features lowfat yogurt topped with a fruit mousse. I liked the sound of some of the toppings, including choco balls, choco flakes, crispy crunch cereal clusters and caramelized almonds.

* Muller Greek Corner with caramelized almonds. I really liked the lowfat Greek yogurt. It was rich, creamy, thick, whipped, lightly sweetened, and tangy with a sour aftertaste. I really appreciated how it wasn't that sweet and I loved the crunchy tiny sweetened bits of caramelized almonds. One cup is 5.3 ounces, 220 calories and 9 grams of fat. Safeway had Muller Greek Corner on sale, 10 for $10 or $1.39 regular price. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

* Muller Corner with choco balls: It's plain, sweetened yogurt. The yogurt is not as thick as their Greek version (though still thick and creamy) and it's way sweeter (too sweet for me). I really liked those small crunchy white and milk chocolate crunchy balls (with crispy rice centers). Safeway had Muller Corner on sale, 10 for $10. 4 out of 5 stars.

* Muller FrutUp luscious lemon flavor. It's the same lowfat lightly sweetened plain yogurt with a layer of lemon fruit mousse. The fruit mousse was a soft gel and quite sweet. I stirred it with the yogurt and still found it too sweet. It was nicely tangy and very thick and creamy. A single serving is 150 calories. Muller FrutUp was 10 for $10 at Safeway. 4 out of 5 stars.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
