Yogurtland Introduces Waffle Cones, New Flavors, and a New Spoon!

Fro-yo girl here. Happy July! There’s a lot going on in froyo right now. First up, let’s talk about the new offerings at Yogurtland. There are two new flavors, Dairy Free Key Lime Pie made with coconut milk and Cookies & Crème light ice cream. Cookies & Crème certainly sounds familiar but the previous Yogurtland version wasn’t a light ice cream; it was a soft serve ice cream made with OREO introduced in January 2018.

Dairy-free Key Lime Pie: I wasn’t sure about how much I’d like this flavor…and I liked it quite a bit. The coconut flavor is there but not overpowering. The key lime is sweet and not tangy (I like tangier flavors), but that’s what I expected. It’s rich and creamy. It’s also probiotic and vitamin C fortified. According to Yogurtland, “this flavor is inspired by the true classic key lime pie dessert. We paired real key lime with graham cracker crumbs and transformed them into a sweet and creamy flavor delivering the full flavor of a key lime pie, while being completely dairy free.” Recommended toppings: Graham crackers, Nilla wafers, mango, and gummy bears

Cookies & Crème Light Ice Cream: This ice cream is made with OREO wafers. It has more cream and more cookie flavor than the Yogurtland froyo version, Classic Cookies & Cream. It’s also richer and has more calories compared to froyo. Yogurtland describes it as “It’s the classic real Oreo® dunked in milk, but even more delicious.” Recommended toppings: Chocolate shell, whipped cream, toffee bits, almonds

Purple Waffle Cone Spoon: The purple spoon is the first NEW Yogurtland spoon of 2019. The waffle cone design is one of the cutest spoons they’ve come out with not involving a Sanrio or Tokidoki character.

Waffle cones: I’ve already tried the waffle cones at Yogurtland since they were being tested at a few locations. I like waffle cones but they’re hardly innovative. They were testing newer cone styles like taiyaki, bubble waffle, and cereal cones. Flavored or black activated charcol cones would be nice. I also didn’t see a waffle iron or smell freshly made cones. The cones are weighed with a special cone holder. The cone holder is 5.8 ounces. Make sure they deduct 5.8 oz from the total weight.

I also spotted posters for National Ice Cream Month. On July 21, National Ice Cream Day, Yogurtland has a special buy one, get one free deal from 1 PM – 6 PM. Some of the new signs mention a new summer flavor, Pomegranate Lime Twister sorbet, to be released on August 5.

Here’s the official Yogurtland press release:

New Summer Flavor at Yogurtland: Fruit Punch Sorbet

Fro-yo girl here. Last week I was at Yogurtland getting my last taste of their feature flavor, Blueberry Lavender ice cream. Today, the new Yogurtland flavor arrived in stores, Fruit Punch sorbet. Yogurtland describes Fruit Punch sorbet as, “Plunge into endless flavor, with a blended combination of pear, apple, orange, pineapple, cherry, and more fruit flavors, mixed into real grape juice that delivers a bright sorbet punch.” It’s a good flavor choice for summer, though I think the flavor appeals more to young kids than to adults. Maybe it’s just me, but I stopped liking fruit punch a long time ago.

* Fruit Punch sorbet: Well, it did taste like fruit punch. It was hard to make out the different fruit flavors, but I mainly tasted cherry and grape. It wasn’t tangy. I wouldn’t want to get a cup of it but it’s a decent option if you can’t have dairy and want something light and fruity.

Fruit Punch sorbet is gluten free, dairy-free, vitamin fortified, and nonfat. Catch it at your local Yogurtland while supplies last.

Yogurtland’s New Flavors of Summer Launching on June 18

Fro-yo girl here. The day for the release of Yogurtland’s new summer flavors has finally arrived: Monday, June 18.

The wait felt so long! The new spring flavors were released on April 2, with no new flavors since then.

The “Flavors of Summer” are:

Blue Raspberry Sorbet flavored with Jolly Rancher: Yogurtland says, “This fruity, raspberry childhood favorite is sure to be a crowd pleaser! This non-dairy, bold, blue, frozen treat is made with REAL JOLLY RANCHER® Blue Raspberry!” It’s nonfat. The Jolly Blue Raspberry base has artificial flavors. While this flavor didn’t sound appealing to me, it wasn’t awful. It did taste like Jolly Rancher blue raspberry candies, but it wasn’t too intensely candy-like. I wouldn’t get it though, because it was too sweet and not natural. The Yogurtland manager liked it because it was refreshing. Recommended toppings: Fresh fruit, sour gummies.

Cookies & Crème Smores Frozen Yogurt: Yogurtland describes this flavor as, “Late summer nights were made for Cookies and Crème Smores! The delicious pairing of REAL Chocolate Cookies blended into sweet marshmallow yogurt will transport you to a warm summer night sitting around the camp fire!” It’s lowfat. Sadly, this flavor is also made with artificial flavors. Why, Yogurtland, why? However, I did think it was the best of the new summer flavors. The marshmallow muted the chocolate in a pleasant way. It was sweet, creamy, and didn’t taste like their other chocolate flavors. I didn’t detect graham crackers but I’m not sure they were in the mix. The yogurt was made with chocolate cookies. Recommended toppings: Keebler double fudge cookies, graham crackers, marshmallow sauce, chocolate chips.

When it comes to the new Butter Pecan Light Ice Cream, Yogurtland says, “Our Flavorologists took inspiration from a decadent summer essential and created for the first time in Yogurtland® history a reduced guilt Ice Cream treat! A de-LIGHT-ful combination of delicate, buttery cream and perfectly roasted pecans makes for a summer time favorite! Made with REAL Roasted Pecans! Note: Fat content has been reduced from 10% Fat to 4.8% Fat as compared to our Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream.” Butter pecan did seem less rich than the other Yogurtland ice cream flavors. It was pleasant and mild but the pecan/nutty flavor was very mild. It didn’t taste like vanilla ice cream but it wasn’t that nutty either. Recommended toppings: Almonds, Nilla wafers, toffee bits.

There were two new toppings: sour watermelon gummies and Keebler double fudge cookies. The Keebler sandwich cookies are adorable. They are plain sandwich cookies with fudge filling that feature different elves on one side and different sayings on the other side. There were no new cups or spoons.

Last summer, Yogurtland introduced 5 new summer flavors and two new spoons (the Joy promotion). This year there are have been fewer new flavors, new spoons, and promotions from Yogurtland. Sigh.
