Tuttimelon West Portal Turns into Quickly

Fro-yo girl here. The Tuttimelon sign on West Portal Ave. has been replaced by a Quickly Kobe Bento sign. The inside still bears some traces of Tuttimelon include a few posters, the Tuttimelon cups, some of the chairs, the wavy white wall and the gelato. I’m told they still carry Tuttimelon gelato. Tuttimelon’s fro-yo is gone.

The new Quickly has smoothies made with Dreyer’s yogurt. The menu includes milk tea, slush (icy) drinks, snow, smoothies, milkshakes, tea, bento bowls, gelato, egg puffs and snacks (mostly fried snacks).

Grand opening specials include $1.99 milk tea and 99 cents ice coffee, ice milk tea and ice green tea. I wonder why this didn’t become a Teaway? Teaway is better than Quickly.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Tuttimelon West Portal Closed For Upgrades

Fro-yo girl here. The windows at Tuttimelon have been covered with brown paper. The store is closed and according to the sign, the closure is temporary and they will reopen soon after making minor upgrades. Maybe they’ll convert to self-serve? Or add Teaway items? I will provide an update.

Tuttimelon West Portal Adds Vietnamese Sandwiches (and More)

Fro-yo girl here. I walked by Tuttimelon West Portal and noticed the lunch specials sign...wandered in and they had a new Portal Cafe menu up. It's still Tuttimelon, but they've added Vietnamese food (banh mi, summer rolls, rice plates, vermicelli plates, and salads). Most of the sandwiches are $4.55. They have a buy 3 get 1 free sandwich deal too. I even got a stamp on my Tutti Card for buying a sandwich!

I like the combination of a light lunch (banh mi or summer rolls), followed by a refreshing bowl of fro-yo.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

April 's Flavor: Wildberry Tart at Tuttimelon West Portal

Fro-yo girl here. Maybe it's the feeling that spring has arrived, but lately, I can't stop craving fro-yo. The Wildberry Tart sign at Tuttimelon West Portal caught my eye a few weeks ago...but I got distracted by the opening of Teaway Express, TuttiSpoons, and a trip to Seattle.

Unfortunately, Tuttimelon West Portal doesn't have the TuttiSpoons but they do have an April fro-yo flavor that's worth trying - Wildberry Tart. Wildberry is made with the juice of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. It's a delicious combination of berry flavors. The blueberry notes are the most prominent, followed by raspberry and then strawberry. The fro-yo is thick and creamy with a sweet finish and that Tuttimelon tartness that I've grown to love.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Tuttimelon Looking Festive and a Picture of Their Valley Fair Location

Fro-yo girl here. I drove by Tuttimelon Irving the other night and spotted a Christmas tree; what a lovely vision on a cold night. Tuttimelon West Portal has been decked out in snowflakes and holiday lights for a few weeks now (see for yourself).

I also had to see their Westfield Valley Fair location before it opens this month. It's upstairs by Macy's. They aren't listed in the mall directory yet, so it took awhile to find them.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Tuttimelon Pom Fro-yo Is Back!

Fro-yo girl here. I noticed the new signs in the window of the West Portal Tuttimelon location announcing the return of Tuttimelon Pomegranate fro-yo. They have new postcards with the pom fro-yo on the front and pictures of a banana split and fro-yo brunch parfait on the back. The banana split features 2 gelato flavors, 1 swirl of fro-yo, nuts, banana and chocolate syrup. The brunch parfait is smaller than their regular parfait; it features original tart fro-yo (you can get it w/ flavored tart but it costs extra), your choice of 1 fresh fruit topping, granola and honey for $2.99.

Their pomegranate fro-yo is now made with Pom Wonderful! I thought about their pom fro-yo all day but I didn’t get back to SF in time to go to the West Portal location. I went to the Irving Tuttimelon location but they didn’t have pom (they have blueberry tart and original tart right now). Sadness. I still want my pom fro-yo.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Update: I tried the pom fro-yo and it's soooooo good - better than ever, smooth, tart, fruity, and truly tuttilicious. It's my favorite Tuttimelon flavored tart.
