Tuttimelon West Portal Turns into Quickly

Fro-yo girl here. The Tuttimelon sign on West Portal Ave. has been replaced by a Quickly Kobe Bento sign. The inside still bears some traces of Tuttimelon include a few posters, the Tuttimelon cups, some of the chairs, the wavy white wall and the gelato. I’m told they still carry Tuttimelon gelato. Tuttimelon’s fro-yo is gone.

The new Quickly has smoothies made with Dreyer’s yogurt. The menu includes milk tea, slush (icy) drinks, snow, smoothies, milkshakes, tea, bento bowls, gelato, egg puffs and snacks (mostly fried snacks).

Grand opening specials include $1.99 milk tea and 99 cents ice coffee, ice milk tea and ice green tea. I wonder why this didn’t become a Teaway? Teaway is better than Quickly.

Tuttimelon West Portal Closed For Upgrades

Fro-yo girl here. The windows at Tuttimelon have been covered with brown paper. The store is closed and according to the sign, the closure is temporary and they will reopen soon after making minor upgrades. Maybe they’ll convert to self-serve? Or add Teaway items? I will provide an update.

Tuttimelon Turns Four: Tuttimelon Day Feb. 2, 2012

Fro-yo girl here. Tuttimelon turns 4 today. Yes, the first location opened four years ago on Feb. 2nd at 2150 Irving St. in San Francisco, CA. That location is now home to their sister business, Teaway, the first self-serve bubble tea bar. I remember going there on the first day and returning many times for the 99 cents fro-yo special. On the first day, they only had one flavor, original tart.

Tuttimelon’s been busy opening locations in Hong Kong, with more locations to come this year. I’ve been busy collecting Tutti Spoons, though I’d have to go to Hong Kong to get all the colors.

Happy b-day Tuttimelon!
