Cutest Fro-yo Cups, My Top 3 Picks

Fro-yo girl here. Something about eating fro-yo out of a cute cup with an adorable spoon just makes it taste better. Having a nice looking swirl and neatly applied toppings also increase the appeal of a cup of fro-yo.

When it comes to cute fro-yo cups, the top honors go to Menchie's...followed by Yoppi Yogurt in the Bay Area. Third place goes to Eggettes/Rock It Swirl because they put the Eggettes character on the cup. The cutest fro-yo cups ever were the Tokidoki loves Yogurtland ones. As you can see, having cute characters on the cup seems to be the key to a cup that appeals to me.

Are there other cute fro-yo cups out there that you know about? I would love to see them. Send me your pics.

Best New Fro-yo Flavors in 2010

Fro-yo girl here. Before the year ends, I wanted to acknowledge my favorite new fro-yo flavors. These were fro-yo flavors introduced in the Bay Area during 2010. I didn't get a chance to try every new flavor but the following are the ones that I liked the best.

* Fraiche Yogurt's Pumpkin: Creamy, fresh, natural tasting, full of pumpkin flavor, this was a brilliant new flavor (only the fifth one they've introduced). It's even better with their homemade mochi.
* Blush's Pink Lemonade Tart: Blush comes out with amazing new flavors every year and this year my new favorite was Pink Lemonade. It's one of their tarter flavors but with the right amount of sweetness.
* Tuttimelon Japanese Yogurt: I fell in love with it the moment I tried it. Similar to their original fro-yo but with that distinctive tangy Yakult like flavor. You can still find it at their Irving St. location.
* Yogurtland Yuzu Tart Yogurt: Available a few months ago, it tasted like orange + lemon, tangy and sweet, the way I like my fro-yo

I'm excited about the new fro-yo flavors that 2011 will bring.

More Pictures from Sanrio 50th Anniversary Celebration

Fro-yo girl here. So this post isn't about fro-yo but the pictures were taken at an event with fro-yo. Also, one of the pictures is of Tokidoki and that's a fro-yo connection too (who can forget Tokidoki Loves Yogurtland cups, spoons, t-shirts and signs?). The Tokidoki characters are friends with Sanrio characters and Yogurtland. My Sanrio pictures were too cute not to share with others.

October, the Month for Pumpkin

Fro-yo girl here. It's October and that means pumpkin is everywhere. I've seen pumpkin cupcakes, pumpkin milk tea, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cake, pumpkin pancakes and best of all - Pumpkin Fro-yo. Pumpkin fro-yo is showing up everywhere. It's usually the sweet kind. My favorite pumpkin fro-yo is from Blush Organic Frozen Yogurt. It's sweet but has that tangy real yogurt taste. It tastes like real pumpkin too. And you can get it with whipped cream as well as an unusual new crunchy topping, pita chips.

The Nubi flyer that I received this week has a picture of pumpkin pie on it. It's their new fro-yo flavor. Yogurtland has a yummy pumpkin fro-yo flavor.

And I just learned that Pinkberry will be introducing pumpkin fro-yo on October 22nd. To celebrate the launch of pumpkin fro-yo, Pinkberry will give away free small pumpkin fro-yo minis on 10/22 from 4 - 7 PM.

Thank You Yogurtland

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland HQ, thank you so much for the care package with two Tokidoki Loves Yogurtland t-shirts (one with Donutella, one featuring Captain Coco) and the special 4 pack of limited edition spoons - one of each, tied with a signature ribbon (in Yogurtland colors). How thoughtful!

I think the promotion is brilliant and I love going to Yogurtland to look at the Tokidoki signs and pick up more spoons. I've recovered from my frustration over not getting the new spoons on 11/23, but now I'm in danger of being stalked by Tracy T.

No, the shirts are not for sale.

Yogurtland Free T-Shirt Promotion

Fro-yo girl here. The Yogurtland Downtown Berkeley just launched a fantastic promotion this week. Spend $5 and get a free Yogurtland t-shirt. I saw that they had plenty of t-shirts (in boxes) so go get yours soon. They run large (I think they are unisex).

It's actually not easy to spend $5 on fro-yo and toppings there. I'm not sure that it's possible using the smaller cup. You need to fill up the jumbo family size cup or go with friends. Or if you live close enough and/or bring an insulated cooler, take some home for later. You can also fill up another cup with toppings (get mochi - that's expensive).

They also have the super cute new Donutella & Captain Coco limited edition spoons now, plus holiday flavors like Peppermint and Egg Nog.

I Finally Have the New Yogurtland Spoons

Fro-yo girl here. I'm finally grateful for having all the limited edition Tokidoki loves Yogurtland spoons. As spoon fans know, the spoons were supposed to arrive on November 23 but for some reason, shipments to the Bay Area Yogurtland locations didn't contain the spoons till today. The Yogurtland SoCal locations did get the spoons on time. Hmm.

I found my spoons at Yogurtland San Jose on Prospect Rd. They weren't on display and most people didn't seem to know about them. You had to ask for the spoons (Donutella & Captain Coco). They did have a sign with a picture of the spoons and it said that they were sold out of the Mozzarella and Latte spoons.

My favorite spoon is the white Mozzarella one (she's the cutest), followed by Donutella.

Happy Fro-yo Thanksgiving

Fro-yo girl here. I had planned on being grateful for the new batch (wave 2) of Tokidoki Loves Yogurtland spoons but I haven't been able to get my hands on the spoons yet (the Bay Area stores are waiting for their shipments to arrive). Sigh. Despite the frustration that I feel, I'm sure I'll have the spoons soon and I know that there are other things to be thankful for on Thanksgiving.

I'm thankful for the following:

1. Some fro-yo shops are open on Thanksgiving Day (Tuttimelon was last year, so I expect they'll be open again. Yogurtland San Ramon will be open and pumpkin fro-yo will be 10% off.)

2. Pumpkin fro-yo is everywhere (along with crushed graham crackers), this year was truly the year of pumpkin fro-yo.

3. Some fro-yo shops offer pre-ordered fro-yo pies. BerryLine in Boston recently announced that anyone who pre-ordered their fro-yo pie for Thanksgiving would receive them free (wow).

4. Though they aren't the newest Yogurtland loves Tokidoki spoons, I do have many Latte and Mozzarella spoons.

5. My ever expanding collection of fro-yo t-shirts

6. The fro-yo friendships I've made and the fro-yo people that I've met (people in the fro-yo business and fans)

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Things You'll Find on ebay

Fro-yo girl here. I've been busy collecting Yogurtland limited edition Tokidoki spoons. The Yogurtland employees also received adorable Tokidoki/Yogurtland t-shirts. The t-shirts aren't for sale (I asked) but one is listed on ebay. The spoons are listed too.
