Maple Hill Creamery Yogurt Review

Fro-yo girl here. My local Whole Foods recently started carrying Maple Hill Creamery yogurt, a European style, cream on top full fat yogurt made from the organic milk of 100% grass-fed cows. The cows reside on a certified organic dairy farm in New York. The yogurt is made by hand in small batches and comes in six flavors: Lemon, plain, orange creme, maple, wild blueberry, vanilla

It’s quality yogurt made with just a few all natural ingredients, including organic milk and live cultures. The flavors are too subtle.

* Maple yogurt: thick and very lightly sweetened with maple syrup, it’s sour and clean tasting, with just a hint of maple syrup, the milkfat clumps add an extra rich deliciousness

* Lemon yogurt: It’s similar to the maple yogurt only with sugar and lemon extract instead of maple syrup and vanilla extract. The lemon flavor is on the subtle side. The yogurt is quite sour. One 6 ounce serving is 150 calories.

I found Maple Hill Creamery Yogurt at Whole Foods on sale 3 for $3, regularly priced at $1.49 each.

4 out of 5 stars.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

* WHOLE FOODS MARKET: 1150 Ocean Ave., San Francisco, CA 94112

love this yogurt! i noticed they are carrying it at kroger too now. i am not positive that this would appeal to many people's taste though. i am originally from a central asian country (original "homeland" of yogurt), so i grew up eating yogurt just like this. it's what real, organic (in my case, even homemade) yogurt should taste like, imo. when i was a kid, i would just put some yogurt in a bowl, put strawberries, raspberries, or whatever fruit was available, and would just wolf it down. :) my partner is an american, and although we pretty much eat healthy -- she didn't like this yogurt. she even texted me and was like "barf, the yogurt got bad, don't eat it!" -- and i gave her the whole "it's a real deal" spiel. i am writing this b/c there were so few reviews about this yogurt, and i really hope that they won't stop making it. if that happens, oh well, i'll go back to my local farmers' market, or just make my own. but, makers of this yogurt, please know, there are real fans out there... :)

I find it to be very watery. I am eating the grass fed creamline wild blueberry a I type this. Isn't yogurt supposed to be thick? I don't mind the sour taste, but the consistency is horrible.

I am a lacto ova vegetarian and have been making and eating yo5gurt for more than 40 years. My greek grandmother taught me to make many varieties of yogurt from different animal milks ...cow , goat, sheeps milk. This Maple HIll yogurt is the absolute WORST tasting yogurt on the market. It tastes like sort of rotting flesh or 'gamey' flavor. Very unpleasant. Buy something else for your family and enjoy yogurt ! My kids gave this 5 YUCKS.

I thought I would give organic a try as I am trying to be healthy....BUT this yogurt, as mentioned above, was very runny and poured out like soup....very disappointed...the taste was okay but had to pour it into smoothies...I prefer thicker!!!!!

When I was a young & broke college student, I had access to a lot of goat milk through a friend and drank/ate it extensively because hey, free protein. I quite enjoyed it until a disastrous cheese-making experiment went very wrong. Now I have a strong negative reaction to goat dairy.

I got Maple Hill plain, whole yogurt yesterday. My reactions, in order, were:
1) This is definitely runnier than what I'm used to seeing in whole milk yogurt.
2) This tastes like goat milk.

I don't know if they use different strains of inoculant than other creameries. I wouldn't be surprised if this is "the real deal" when it comes to authenticity to traditional probiotic foods. However, it definitely tastes DIFFERENT from the standard commercial yogurt from big box grocery stores. And to me, similar to goat dairy.

Just bought some of the Maple Hill plain yogurt. Definitely wasn't what I was expecting with consistency, my husband thought it was bad but I found out this is normal and it tasted okay. I do like my yogurt thicker so I'll try the Greek and see if it's better. I don't understand the folks they're saying it tastes horrible cuz it's not.. I think there's something wrong with their taste buds.. I've tried Jersey and Holstein raw milk before.. I thought there was something wrong with the milk but in all actuality, I've been so used to store-bought milk I didn't know what real straight from the cow milk tasted like 😆. something was wrong with me not the food.

The first time I bought this yogurt I thought I had purchased a container that had gone bad. Fast forward 6 months to this evening when I grabbed it again not realizing it was the same brand and came home to make a quick yogurt parfait. I love cream top yogurt so I took a huge spoonful of the top and ate it. I’m not even sure what to make of it. It’s definitely runnier than most other yogurts, and I can’t taste the vanilla at all. Maybe that’s because the bitter flavor is overpowering? Mind you, I am fully aware that America (and many other civilized societies) has processed and sugared and salted the hell out of basically every single food out there, so it’s no surprise to me to read that this brand is closer to what original yogurt tastes like. Personally, I’m not sure I can handle eating spoiled milk that tastes like what I would think spoiled milk tastes like, but I appreciate the simple ingredients and the nutritional value. I will finish this container in smoothies or popsicles but I don’t know if I’ll be purchasing this brand again.
