Winner of the 2020 Easter Froyo Shop Spirit Award

Fro-yo girl here. Easter definitely doesn’t feel the same this year, since we’re still under “stay at home” orders here in California. Many froyo shops are closed around the world right now, sadly. But, the holiday must go on and there’s still some froyo Easter spirit out there.

Last year’s Easter Froyo Shop winner was the Yog Bar UK. They demonstrated their Easter froyo spirit by creating Luxury Egg Yog Sundaes (giant chocolate eggs filled with froyo and toppings) and holding an Easter contest with Wolf + Lamb. Unfortunately, the Yog Bar is currently closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

This year, Pinkberry Japan has really cute Easter creations again. Yogurt Mill just brought back Marshmallow Peeps froyo. DAIREE in Australia has hot cross buns stuffed with hot cross bun froyo with cinnamon sauce (wow). I've seen lots of Easter froyo pies and cakes. TCBY, Yogurtland, and sweetFrog provided free Easter crafts online.

Without further ado, this year’s winner of the Easter Froyo Shop Spirit Award is…Yo Mama Frozen Yogurt (@yomamafroyohk) in Hong Kong (multiple locations). Yo Mama just introduced a new Easter-inspired froyo flavor, Golden Egg Tart froyo flavor, topped with gooey caramel sauce. What’s so brilliant about this new flavor is that it’s so appropriate for Easter (eggs) and Hong Kong (egg tarts). The caramel sauce would add a nice salty kick but I’d love to top it with the flaky egg tart crust too.

I’ve never had egg tart froyo before but I was inspired to pair egg tarts with froyo back in 2017 and I have the post to prove it. Egg tarts went well with froyo. What I’d like to try next is a warm pineapple bun filled not with a pat of butter, custard or cream, but with froyo. I also read a few HK egg tart recipes that didn’t seem too complicated. Maybe I’ll make some at home.

Happy Froyo Easter!

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
