Nounos Greek Yogurt Review

Fro-yo girl here. I stopped by the world famous Zabar’s in Manhattan and spotted a yogurt line that I’ve never tried before, Nounos Greek low-fat yogurt. Nounos comes in clear glass jars that let you see the product. Some flavors were blended, while others had fruit on the bottom. A 6 ounce jar is $2.98 at Zabar’s.

Nounos calls itself “Real” Greek yogurt manufactured with the finest local ingredients. The yogurt is hand-crafted in small batches in New York, using the traditional Greek straining method. Fruits are non-GMO. All varieties are lowfat and made with 2% milk.

Flavors: Classic Plain, Strawberry, Apple Cinnamon, Fig Orange, Vanilla Bean, Blueberry, Pumpkin Spice (seasonal)

* Vanilla bean blend: My initial impression was favorable and I was pleasantly surprised by the sourness/tartness (thanks to the low sugar content). The texture was thick and creamy, though it did have some small clumps (which is fine, it makes it seem less processed). The aftertaste was sour and slightly off (too much carob bean gum?). One serving is 170 calories with 2.5g of total fat and 12g of sugar. I’d be willing to try other flavors.

Ingredients:  Pasteurized lowfat milk, live active cultures, sugar, natural vanilla flavor, pectin, vanilla beans, carob bean gum

Nounos is available on the East Coast (mostly around NYC). To find Nounos or for more information, visit Nounoscreamery.com

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

I have just purchased the vanilla and it tastes like mold. Well, mold and vanilla yogurt. It isn’t expired, I don’t see mold. Is it me?

I haven't had it since 2015. I guess it still tastes "off," but people are still buying it.
