Fro-yo girl here. I stopped by the world famous Zabar’s in Manhattan and spotted a yogurt line that I’ve never tried before, Nounos Greek low-fat yogurt. Nounos comes in clear glass jars that let you see the product. Some flavors were blended, while others had fruit on the bottom. A 6 ounce jar is $2.98 at Zabar’s.
Nounos calls itself “Real” Greek yogurt manufactured with the finest local ingredients. The yogurt is hand-crafted in small batches in New York, using the traditional Greek straining method. Fruits are non-GMO. All varieties are lowfat and made with 2% milk.
Flavors: Classic Plain, Strawberry, Apple Cinnamon, Fig Orange, Vanilla Bean, Blueberry, Pumpkin Spice (seasonal)
* Vanilla bean blend: My initial impression was favorable and I was pleasantly surprised by the sourness/tartness (thanks to the low sugar content). The texture was thick and creamy, though it did have some small clumps (which is fine, it makes it seem less processed). The aftertaste was sour and slightly off (too much carob bean gum?). One serving is 170 calories with 2.5g of total fat and 12g of sugar. I’d be willing to try other flavors.
Ingredients: Pasteurized lowfat milk, live active cultures, sugar, natural vanilla flavor, pectin, vanilla beans, carob bean gum
Nounos is available on the East Coast (mostly around NYC). To find Nounos or for more information, visit Nounoscreamery.com

Fro-yo girl here. My favorite souvenir is a cute froyo spoon and I brought a couple back from a recent visit to the East Coast. I finally have FroyoWorld Elfy spoons!!!
I also picked up a Yogorino cup (the design is different now, with a slightly wavy bottom), FroyoWorld cup and cup divider, and Chillbox box and cup.

Fro-yo girl here. Here’s a closer look at the new Menchie’s Alvin the Chipmunk limited edition froyo spoons, inspired by the upcoming 20th Century Fox for the new holiday movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. The holiday themed spoon is available while supplies last (they hope to have them throughout the holiday season/till the end of the year).
Alvin has a red Santa cap on and the spoon says Menchie Loves Alvin. You can see the back of Alvin when you turn the spoon over.

Fro-yo girl here. Menchie’s has partnered with 20th Century Fox for the new holiday movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. Alvin and friends have inspired new Menchie’s cups, spoons, promotions and holiday flavors.
New goodies arrived yesterday at Menchie’s locations. New flavors will launch throughout the holiday season. There’s a new topping too: Chocolate dipped cherries.
New flavors (launch date):
- Chocolate Mint Crème made with Andes Mints (Nov. 1): Tastes just like the Andes mint candy, so there’s a strong mint flavor. Recommended toppings: anything chocolate, Andes Mints, almonds
- Spiced Gingerbread Cookie (Nov. 1): Made with real ginger cookies. I could taste mild spices but not the cookies. It didn’t have a strong gingerbread taste. Recommended toppings: nuts, graham cracker crumbs, Cool Whip
- Southern Pecan Pie (Nov. 16)
- Holiday Eggnog (Dec. 1)
- Dark Chocolate Cherry Brownie (Dec. 1)
- Fresh Baked Oatmeal Raisin Cookie (Dec. 16)
The new limited time only cups feature Alvin and his friends, Simon and Theodore, wearing Santa hats. The new limited time only red spoons feature Alvin in a Santa hat.
There’s a holiday gift card promotion. For every $25 Menchie’s gift card purchased, receive a $5 bonus Alvin and the Chipmunks Menchie’s gift card.
Menchie's associates have Alvin and the Chipmunk t-shirts - cute.

Fro-yo girl here. Happy Halloween froyo ghouls! I’m always on the lookout for Halloween spirit at froyo shops. Menchie's brought back the color changing spoons with a Halloween theme (Menchie as a rock star, wizard and astronaut).
Each year I’ll pick out a froyo shop (or froyo chain) for showing the most Halloween spirit. Last year’s winner was 16 Handles – their shops were decorated, they sponsored a Fall Festival with pumpkin carving, they made Halloween froyo cakes and they had a Halloween photo contest, #TrickYoTreat.
This year’s winner wasn’t easy to choose because of the level of spirit shown by Llao Llao and Wakaberry. Llao Llao locations are offering free face painting on October 31, 2015 from 5:30 PM- 9:30 PM, with a free petitllao with a topping for the first 100 people who come for face painting. They’re also sponsoring a Halloween froyo contest with 50 winners.
Wakaberry partnered with the new movie Hotel Transylvania 2. The limited edition cups feature a Hotel Transylvania design. They’ve come up with Halloween froyo flavors and Halloween toppings and the #DracIsBack Halloween spooky froyo creation photo contest with “Fang-tastic” Halloween prizes.
And the winner of the 2015 Froyo Shop Halloween Spirit Award is…Wakaberry!
Happy Halloween!

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurt flavored candies seem the most popular in Germany and Japan but I recently found a yogurt flavored chocolate bar from Italy, by Duca Degli Abruzzi Nobili Passioni Win-Win. There were a variety of chocolate bars and only one was yogurt flavored.
Milk Chocolate filled with Yogurt and Strawberry Cream: The milk chocolate shell is very creamy – more so than your typical American chocolate bar. The yogurt and strawberry cream filling is also creamy. You taste a bit of tang from the yogurt and hints of strawberry. No flavor is overpowering. It’s quite pleasant and creamy. I love how the cup of yogurt on the packaging looks like a bowl of frozen yogurt.
I found Win-Win chocolates for $1.49 each at Armen Market in Altadena. One bar is 75 grams. One serving has 11 grams of fat and 20g of sugar. It’s a good value for an imported extra creamy chocolate bar.
Ingredients (strawberry yogurt cream): milk chocolate (cocoa min. 30%): sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa paste, whole milk powder, powder milk whey, emulsifier: soy lecithin, natural vanilla flavoring, yogurt and strawberry cream 33%: sugar, vegetable oils and fats, powder milk whey, strawberry powder3% (maltodextrin, strawberry concentrated), yogurt powder 2%, emulsifier: soy lecithin, vanillin, flavor
4 out of 5 stars.

Fro-yo girl here. Barbie doesn’t own a frozen yogurt shop (yet) but she does go out for froyo with her sisters and friends. The frozen yogurt shop is part of Malibu Ave.™, where Barbie goes to shop. The Malibu Ave. line includes a bakery, grocery store, pet boutique, fashion vending machine, photo booth and more.
Barbie Malibu Ave. Frozen Yogurt Shop includes:
- A working frozen yogurt machine that dispenses “frozen yogurt,” choose from two flavors (vanilla and strawberry?). You can even get creative and swirl two flavors together.
- Toppings bar where you can make dough-like strawberries, oranges and starfruit (Barbie likes healthy toppings)
- Two froyo cups (one pink, one green)
- Two froyo spoons (one pink, one green)
- Froyo kiosk with one chair and a cash register
The “dough” only comes in two colors, white and pink. If you want more colors, use Play-Doh or something similar.
The frozen yogurt playset retails for $19.99.
Check Walmart which has the set for $8.22: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Barbie-Kiosk-Yogurt-Shop/42124191
