NuYo Frozen Yogurt Profile

Fro-yo girl here. Happy Earth Week! In honor of Earth Week, here’s profile of an eco-friendly frozen yogurt chain that I visited recently: NuYo Frozen Yogurt.

NuYo looks eco-friendly even before you walk into the shop. The logo is green and with leaves and there are leaf decals on the windows. The Roseville shop interior has an appealing eco-inspired design with wood floors and shades of white, blue and green.

NuYo has adopted many eco-friendly business practices, including using napkins made out of 100% recycled materials, compostable cups and spoons, recycling, energy efficient light bulbs, energy efficient frozen yogurt machines, non-toxic cleaning supplies. They also strive to purchase locally grown seasonal fruits.

For 42 cents an ounce you can fill up your cup with any mix of frozen yogurt, shaved ice and toppings. They had 14 self-serve proprietary frozen yogurt flavors with live and active cultures to choose from and a toppings bar with bins filled to the brim with nuts, fresh fruit, cheesecake bits, cookies (even regular size whole chocolate chip cookies), cereal, graham cracker crumbs, candy, mochi, cookie dough, brownies, chocolate chips, popping boba and jellies. You can also opt for a waffle bowl and add various syrups and sauces like hot fudge and peanut butter.

They offer a good blend of tart and sweet flavors, including no sugar added froyo. The flavors included classic flavors like vanilla and chocolate, along with fruity flavors and indulgent flavors (peanut butter, cake batter). I tried several tart frozen yogurt flavors. All of them were very good. The frozen yogurt was very flavorful, smooth, creamy with a refreshing edge, though the actual fruit flavors (Asian pear, strawberry) were on the subtle side.

NuYo also has froyo pies and Yoghund, frozen yogurt for dogs. Sign up for the reward card and earn your way to free froyo. The shop in Roseville is one of five locations.
