Open Nature Greek Frozen Yogurt Review

Fro-yo girl here. While looking for Ben & Jerry’s Greek Fro-yo at Safeway, I noticed Open Nature Greek Frozen Yogurt. Open Nature is a Safeway line of 100% natural products. Open Nature Greek frozen yogurt is available in three flavors: Vanilla, Strawberry and Honey. The fro-yo is made with live and active cultures and has more protein than your average frozen yogurt.

* HONEY GREEK FROZEN YOGURT: Visually, it looked appealing. It’s white with no honey swirls. The frozen yogurt scoops easily, like ice cream. It’s thick and creamy. While I found it too sweet, I did like how it was rich, smooth and had real yogurt flavor. The honey flavor is very pronounced. It tastes good but it needs something to reduce the sweetness, maybe some roasted almonds and lightly sweetened crunchy cereal or granola.

A quart of Open Nature Greek frozen yogurt was $3.99 on sale, $5.49 regular price.

4 out of 5 stars

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

* SAFEWAY: 5290 Diamond Heights Blvd., San Francisco, CA

Hello! This is the first grocery frozen yogurt I have ever purchased. In fact, I just had a scoop last night! LOL
To my, this tastes exactly like cheesecake ice cream. I really enjoy it, but I have been looking for something I can purchase in a grocery store that tastes like genuine sour plain frozen yogurt taste. Have you come across one? I have seen a few of the vanilla flavour, but that always makes me think it will be more vanilla than tart. Any recommendations would be great! xoxo Kat

That is a good question. Despite the explosion of supermarket frozen yogurt, it's rare to see a plain frozen yogurt flavor. I don't have one that I love but Fresh & Easy's plain frozen yogurt is the one I recommend. It's better than Trader Joe's plain tart. Lifeway has a plain frozen kefir that's quite good but has a little vanilla flavor.

I am absolutely HOOKED on the Mixed Berry flavor. I like to put a few scoops in a glass, and pour some 2% Lucern chocolate milk over it and eat it with a long sppon. It is soothing, and so incredibly tasty! I swear, I can barely keep it in my house, it goes so quickly! VERY good.

The vanilla flavor is so good. I can make milkshakes or add a little with fresh fruit after dinner. I usually buy regular ice cream but this has changed me to only buying frozen yogurt.yummy!!

Are you aware that this is made from milk that comes from cows treated with rBST? Bovine somatotropin (BST) is a protein hormone naturally produced in the pituitary glands of cattle. Monsanto developed a recombinant version, rBST, by using a genetically engineered E. coli bacteria. It is given to cows to have them produce more milk faster.
rBST has not been allowed on the market in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Israel or the European Union since 2000. Argentina also banned the use of rBST.

The above comment is not true. It says right on the carton that the milk comes from cows not treated with rSBT.
