Amazon to Close All Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh Locations

Fro-yo girl here. Amazon recently announced plans to shutter all Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go locations. Amazon Go was Amazon’s version of a convenience store. The suburban Amazon Go locations offered self-serve froyo and toppings with flat rate pricing of $4.99. Initially, Pinkberry was served, but later they switched to non-Pinkberry froyo.

The Amazon Go in Whittier, CA, was the first Amazon Go to open in Southern California back in 2022. Later, Amazon opened additional SoCal Amazon Go locations in Woodland Hills and Torrance. The Whittier location was the only one still open in 2026.

I liked Amazon Go because you could get hot, even freshly made food that was affordable and better than 7-Eleven and other convenience stores.

There were 14 Amazon Go locations listed on the Amazon website in late January 2026. I looked into which Amazon Go locations still had froyo in 2026. Five of the 14 offered self-serve froyo.

Locations of Amazon Go with Froyo

  • Amazon Go #ILS1, 14249 Whittier Blvd, Whittier, CA 90605 - opened in 2022
  • Amazon Go #IBF2, 10819 4th St. NE, Bellevue, WA 98004 - opened in 2024
  • Amazon Go #ILS4, 13209 39th Ave SE, Mill Creek, WA 98012 - opened in 2022
  • Amazon Go #IWA3, 17710 Canyon Road E, Puyallup, WA 98375 - opened in 2023
  • Amazon Go #IWA2, 15518 Meridian Ave, Puyallup, WA 98375 - opened in 2023

Locations of Amazon Go without Froyo

  • Amazon Go #ICH2, 222 W Merchandise Mart Plaza, Chicago, IL 60654
  • Amazon Go #ICH3, 500 West Madison Street, Chicago, IL 60661
  • Amazon Go #ICH6, 130 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60601
  • Amazon Go #INY1, 200 Vesey St, New York, NY 10281
  • Amazon Go #INY4, 150 E 53rd Street, New York, NY 10022
  • Amazon Go #ISE9, 1122 Madison St, Seattle, WA 98104
  • Amazon Go #ISE6, 300 Boren Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109
  • Amazon Go #ISE1, 2131 7th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121
  • Amazon Go #IBF3, 1906 Terry Ave, Seattle, WA 98101

Amazon Go in Woodland Hills, CA, had froyo, but the one in Torrance did not.

Pinkberry No Longer Available at Amazon Go

Fro-yo girl here. Remember how excited I was that you could get Pinkberry at Amazon Go stores. There are three Amazon Go stores in Southern California and the Whittier and Woodland Hills locations had self-serve Pinkberry with unlimited toppings. It was a really good deal because they charged a flat rate of $4.99 for froyo and toppings. Granted, they only offered two flavors, original and pomegranate, and three toppings, but still, it was a steal.

Unfortunately, I don’t live near Amazon Go, so my visits were infrequent. I recently returned and noticed the Pinkberry sign had been removed. The froyo machine and toppings were still there. They were out of froyo mix during my visit, but I was told that they now serve vanilla and chocolate froyo (not Pinkberry). The change happened late last year. It’s still $4.99/per cup with unlimited toppings.

Amazon Go doesn’t look like it’s doing too well. Some of the shelves looked empty. They seem to have reduced their inventory. The prepared food is simple, but it’s not bad.

Last year, Amazon closed eight Go storesclosed eight Go stores. Amazon Fresh isn’t doing well either.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

An Update on Loop Neighborhood, Froyo Disappears

where the froyo station used to be

Fro-yo girl here. In 2015, I wrote about Loop Neighborhood, the new kind of convenience store founded in Northern California in 2013 and located at Shell gas stations. Loop carried healthier options and had a modern, sleek design. Some of their stores even offered self-serve froyo. They chose top-of-the-line Electro Freeze soft serve machines, Dannon Yo Cream froyo, and flat-rate pricing. I went once and the froyo was too soft – so there was some issue with how they were using and maintaining those soft serve machines, unfortunately.

Over the years, I watched Loop grow and I was excited because it meant more places to get froyo. In 2017, Loop had 23 locations in Northern California. By 2020, Loop had 35 stores and 33 of them offered self-serve froyo. The Loop website indicated which locations offered froyo.

And then the pandemic struck. I’m assuming that this is why they stopped offering froyo. Self-serve froyo wasn’t allowed for about a year.

Do any Loop Markets still carry froyo? The Union City branch removed the froyo machines and toppings bar and that area is now used for storage. I have the before (2018) and after pictures (2024).

Loop's website lists the features (e.g., coffee, car wash, Amazon lockers) and which locations offer each, but froyo is no longer on the website.

Loop currently has 56 markets in California. Other gas station convenience stores still offer self-serve froyo and they survived the pandemic, but those stores are not in California.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Getting Pinkberry at the New Amazon Go in Whittier, CA

Fro-yo girl here. Amazon Go opened their first store in Southern California in Whittier on September 13. I visited on 9/14/22. Amazon Go is Amazon’s version of a convenience store with freshy made food, coffee stations (they serve Starbucks), Healthade kombucha on tap, Stumptown cold brew coffee on tap, Pinkberry self-serve froyo station, snacks, premade food, drinks, ice cream, wine, beer, etc. It’s contactless thanks to the use of Amazon’s Just Walk Out Technology.

As for the Pinkberry station, there was one machine with two froyo flavors: Original tart and pomegranate. There were three toppings: chocolate chips, honey oats granola, and mini milk chocolate gems. There was one cup size. A cup of froyo and toppings is $4.99 which is a real bargain. You can’t even get a small cup of Pinkberry for $5 these days. It's self-serve!

Because the toppings are on the counter, it’s difficult to get them onto the tall froyo swirl without making a mess. If you want a lot of toppings, I suggest putting them on the bottom of your cup, under your froyo. I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth, fresh quality of the froyo and the firmness. I hope they keep it up!

Scan your Amazon shopping app when you enter. Then cameras will track your items and charge your Amazon account when you exit. It’s a little strange but it worked fine. If there’s a problem, you can report it on your app. If you don’t like an item, you can request a refund. There are no cashiers but they had a customer service desk, employees in bright orange shirts on the floor to answer questions, and people preparing food.

Use the kiosk to order freshly made food, including build your own sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, salads, breakfast burritos, avocado toast, hot egg bowls, and a kids menu. They’ll call your name when your order was ready (too bad they didn’t have robots doing the food prep). The grab & go section had sushi, bagels, wraps, salads, soups, croissant sandwiches and more. There was a hot foods area with cheese melt sandwiches, pizza slices, and popcorn chicken.

As I was driving home, I spotted the Amazon Go billboard which shows a sandwich, a cup of coffee, avocado toast and a cup of Pinkberry froyo! Amazon Go will open in Torrance soon.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Loop Neighborhood Coming to Union City, CA (Bringing More Froyo?)

Fro-yo girl here. I first wrote about Loop Neighborhood in May 2015. At the time, it had about a dozen locations in Northern California. The first location opened in June 2013. Loop seeks to be a new kind of convenience store, with a nicer café, water for your pets, healthier food, a soup bar, coffee and a frozen yogurt stand, featuring self-serve froyo and toppings.

Loop currently has 23 locations in Northern California and a new one is being built at the corner of Decoto Rd. and Alvarado-Niles Blvd. in Union City, CA. There was a Shell Gas station at that corner before but it’s been demolished.

I assume that the new location will have froyo.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Loop Neighborhood: A New Kind of Convenience Store, Featuring Froyo (and Free Wi-fi)

Fro-yo girl here. Meet Loop – a new kind of convenience store. Loop opened its first location in Santa Clara, CA in June 2013 and now has a dozen locations in Northern California. Additional locations are on the way, including one on Hickey Blvd. in Daly City (currently under construction).

The Loop seeks to redefine your local convenience store by offering healthier options, including organic, natural and gluten free products. The Loop has a modern, sleek design with white and orange as the color scheme and encourages people to linger and enjoy free wi-fi, a cup of froyo, fresh pastries, and espresso drinks. They carry things like kale chips, roasted seaweed snacks and bubble bath.

The Loop location that I visited was at a Shell gas station.

The froyo station consisted of two Electro Freeze soft serve machines, each carrying two flavors with the twist option. The froyo is from Dannon YoCream. A small toppings bar on the side offered 14 options, including popping boba, sprinkles, candy, mochi, nuts, and chocolate chips. There wasn’t any fresh fruit. During my visit the flavors were: Country vanilla, Pistachio, Very strawberry and Chocolate classic.

You can choose between two sizes. A small is $2.99 and a large cup $3.99, with toppings an additional 50 cents. It’s self-serve and they don’t weigh your cups.

They didn’t have sample cups but were nice enough to improvise. The froyo tasted fine but it was way too soft. It would be difficult to pile a lot into a cup because of the soft texture. I hate it when froyo is too soft…so please, convenience stores and supermarkets take note – if you want to offer froyo, please make sure the texture is right because it so rarely is. Who wants to buy a big cup of runny, melted froyo?

As for the rest of the market, the hot food options weren’t that different from 7-Eleven: wings, rollers, hot dogs, potato wedges, etc. You can still get Icees. Loop has fancier soda and coffee machines and their own blend of coffee. The pastries looked fresher (and weren’t wrapped in plastic). There were a few tables. It’s a nicer looking cousin to 7-Eleven, AMPM and Circle K.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
