Fro-yo girl here. I was lucky enough to sample Yoga-urt’s tenth anniversary NEW flavor. It’s purple, proprietary, and plant-based (plus organic, all natural, hand-crafted, soy-free, etc). The new flavor is Purple Lotus (watermelon & hibiscus). Mmmm, so good. I’ve never had that flavor combination before and you know I love a creative flavor. It’s the perfect summer flavor, since it’s watermelon season. The watermelon makes it sweet and light, but the hibiscus gives it a slightly tart edge that I really appreciate. Try it now. The yogurt is made in limited batches, so hurry.
I also tried the new waffle cones which are made with the almond and cashew pulp that’s the byproduct of the almond and cashew milk that’s made in-house. The new cones are light and crunchy. They might be a bit thinner than the old cones. And yes, they are gluten-free.
Tomorrow, July 12, is the tenth anniversary celebration at all Yoga-urt locations. You’ll get to try the new flavor, Purple Lotus. The first 50 customers at each location will get a custom Yoga-urt bamboo spoon. You can also order a limited edition birthday sundae and the new waffle cones. Also, enjoy $1 off all soft serve bowls from 3 PM - 5 PM (one per customer).
The shops are in Glendale, Echo Park, Santa Monica, and Granada Hills.
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo girl here. If you read my blog on a regular basis, you know that I LOVE YOGA-URT and have been a customer since the Kenneth Village shop first opened ten years ago. I’m thrilled that Yoga-urt is turning ten and in awe of the founder’s dedication and commitment to offering the best all-organic, plant-based, probiotic soft serve (also known as frozen yogurt).
To celebrate ten years, all Yoga-urt locations will be offering the following on Saturday, July 12:
- A brand new flavor
- Custom commemorative bamboo spoons for the first 50 customers at each location
- A limited edition birthday sundae
- $1 off all soft serve bowls from 3 PM - 5 PM (one per customer)
- New waffle cones
Yoga-urt’s soft serve is free of dairy, soy, and gluten. It's all-natural. The base is made with hand-squeezed almond and cashew milk. The shops are in Glendale, Echo Park, Santa Monica, and Granada Hills. Here's a picture of the first store, in Glendale's Kenneth Village.

Fro-yo girl here. Happy 7th anniversary, Yoga-urt Kenneth Village (Glendale, California)! And keeping with Yoga-urt’s anniversary tradition, two new flavors were introduced this weekend. The flavors are Chocolate Bliss and Peanut Butter Prana. Yes, they don’t sound like new flavors but there’s something different about them. The new versions are sweetened with dates and grape juice concentrate, rather than organic sugar. They’re no sugar added, fruit-sweetened versions. And they’re organic, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, all-natural, and kosher. Mr. Froyo approves, since he has a hard time digesting sugary foods.
Naturally-sweetened Peanut Butter Prana: Like “regular” Peanut Butter Prana, the NS version is heavy on peanut butter flavor. It seemed a tad icier but still thick, rich, and luscious. I couldn’t really taste a difference – maybe a side-by-side comparison would help. The verdict: Just as good as the regular Peanut Butter Prana.
Three more naturally sweetened flavors are coming soon. FYI, dates have a low glycemic index.
I’m not sure when it happened but the right wall in front of the shop has new quotes now. They’re all from women.
We remain your loyal fans!
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo girl here. Yoga-urt Kenneth Village (Glendale, CA) just turned SIX on July 18. They were and still are the only plant-based, organic, gluten-free, soy-free, kosher froyo shop in Los Angeles (and beyond). To celebrate this milestone, they just introduced a newish flavor, Heavenly Honeycomb (it was available for a day a few years ago). This unique flavor is made with vegan honeycomb that they make from scratch (the honeycomb is also available as a topping). It tastes like honeycomb – not like caramel but deeper and more caramelized in flavor. It wasn’t as thick and creamy as Peanut Butter Prana for some reason. It's an effortful flavor to make, so it was only available this weekend (and maybe an extra day in Echo Park).
Also, on July 24, enjoy $1 off your purchase from 2 PM – 5 PM at the Glendale location. On July 25, enjoy $1 off your purchase from 2 PM – 5 PM at the Echo Park location. A portion of the proceeds raised will benefit a non-profit.
There’s a giveaway too. One lucky person will win 6 pints of Yoga-urt (your choice of flavors). For details, check out Yoga-urt’s Instagram account, @yoga-urt

Fro-yo girl here. We’re back from Yoga-urt, 1407 Kenneth Rd, Glendale, CA, and the 31st flavor was finally revealed: Ultimate Ube! I guessed that the new flavor would be purple, but that was easy to guess since most of Yoga-urt’s anniversary flavors have been. The shop looked very celebratory with lots of pink and purple balloons.
Ultimate Ube: The texture was thick though it wasn’t quite as firm and dense as some of the other flavors, possibly because it was a new flavor that was freshly made and/or the fact that it was 98 degrees was taxing the soft serve machine? The flavor was on the sweeter side and had a hint of spice. Mr. Froyo & I thought it was cinnamon and maybe something else. The ube flavor was on the mild side but we were tasting more than just cinnamon, almond milk and cashews. Yes, it’s plant-based, organic, gluten free, soy free and kosher. Recommended toppings: Pistachios, gluten free waffle cone, almonds.
I was so excited about the new flavor that I forgot to check out the brand new Classic Chocolate and Strawberry shakes. Also, you can request a shake made with any flavor that’s in rotation.
The celebration continues tomorrow at the Echo Park location (2211 W. Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles). Enjoy $1 off your purchase on Sunday from 2 PM - 5 PM.
Your froyo purchases will help others too; $1 from every transaction will be donated to the Loveland Foundation, an organization that brings opportunity, access, validation and healing to communities of color, and Support + Feed, a charitable initiative that provides plant-based meals during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond for those in need, including families, seniors, victims of domestic abuse, etc.
P.S. If you’re looking for Pistachio Passion or Vanilla Harmony pints, they’re sold out.

Fro-yo girl here. I’m definitely going to tell you all about Yoga-urt’s 5th anniversary celebration this weekend, but I wanted to tell you about what it will involve before reporting back on what happens.
Love froyo? Love ice cream? Love soft serve? Vegan? Avoiding soy? Foodie? Come one, come all! In case you didn’t hear, Yoga-urt has the best vegan soft serve froyo in the country (the world?). It’s organic and made in small batches on site, by hand, with lots of love. I’ve been fan since day 1 and Mr. Froyo became one once I brought him to the shop. As wonderful as the product is, the business is made extra special by a loving and caring founder, Melissa Schulman. She often donates to causes she cares about and she created Yoga-urt to share yummy, healthful treats with the world, especially the poor souls with food allergies who were left out of enjoying good froyo. I don’t have any food allergies and I love Yoga-urt, so it’s a place for anyone who appreciates high quality, delicious soft serve. Mr. Froyo even likes the music that they play. It’s our happy place.
This weekend's anniversary celebration will include:
- Unveiling of a new flavor, their 31st
- New shakes, including a Birthday Cake Shake for the anniversary weekend
- $1 discount at the Glendale location on Saturday from 2 PM - 5 PM and the Echo Park location on Sunday from 2 PM - 5 PM
- $1 from every transaction will be donated to the Loveland Foundation, an organization that brings opportunity, access, validation and healing to communities of color, and Support + Feed, a charitable initiative that provides plant-based meals during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond for those in need, including families, seniors, victims of domestic abuse, etc.
Yoga-urt has been recognized by PETA, The Glendale News Press, Los Angeles Times, ABC 7, VegOut Magazine, and others. Readers of the Glendale News Press voted Yoga-urt “Best of Glendale” for the “Ice Cream/ Frozen Yogurt” category by in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Fro-yo girl here. I am so excited for Yoga-urt; the original location in Glendale’s Kenneth Village (1407 W Kenneth Rd, Glendale) is celebrating five years today, July 18. I’ve been a fan since my first taste of Yoga-urt back when they first opened and Mr. Froyo is also a regular. It’s the only business that he regularly frequents. He makes it a point to go in person to show support for such a wonderful, special business. During the stay at home order, we always had some Yoga-urt in the freezer.
How special is it? Where do I begin? The froyo is made from scratch by hand in small batches and they make their own flavors. It’s the only ALL organic, vegan, soy free, kosher froyo shop in Los Angeles and beyond. I can’t think of another one and I track froyo shops all over the world. Not only is it allergy friendly, but the taste – so fresh, so natural! The texture is so thick, rich, dense, creamy and indulgent. I’m definitely making myself hungry thinking about it.
The anniversary celebration takes place the weekend of July 25-26. And yes, the tradition of the new anniversary flavor continues but I don’t know what that flavor is yet. I’ll report back. In the mean time, here’s the Yoga-urt anniversary message:
“That's right, 5 YEARS ago in July, we opened our doors in Glendale's Kenneth Village and it has been an amazing roller coaster ride ever since.
Yoga-urt is STILL the only all organic & vegan frozen yogurt store in Los Angeles. People still drive from all over LA, OC, Long Beach, the Valley, etc. to come. And with 2 locations and 30 original flavors created (and the 31st coming for our anniversary making it 31 flavors :), it has been one wild ride.
5 years deserves a big celebration but with our Anniversary only a few weeks away on July 25/26 and COVID-19 at a very sensitive point, it's hard to know what that celebration will be, although it's clear it will be a socially distanced one unfortunately.
For me, it is very important to be able to celebrate this milestone with all of you, our customers. Some have been coming for 5 years and some are new, but we would never have reached 5 years without every single one of you. I know the love for Yoga-urt runs deep for some of you which means so much to me.
So what will this celebration be? I don't know yet. We may celebrate at the store the weekend of July 25/26 or we may postpone the store celebration until August. Either way, I have an idea of a way to celebrate even from our homes that I will share soon. Look for announcements on social media and another newsletter in a few weeks with more info.”
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo girl here. It’s been a Yoga-urt tradition to celebrate store anniversaries with a new flavor introduction and the tradition continues. Yoga-urt Echo Park turns one on June 1 and is celebrating with a limited time NEW flavor, Rocky Road, available in Echo Park this weekend only. Rocky Road purchases will come with free vegan marshmallows and toasted almond topping. The flavor does contain soy (unlike their other flavors) since it’s made with Dandies Marshmallows. Dandies Marshmallows are vegan, kosher, gluten-free, free of corn syrup, and made with no artificial flavors or colors.
I wondered why they made a flavor that contains soy and it’s because of all the requests they’ve received for a Rocky Road flavor. There are no domestic commercially available vegan marshmallows available that are soy-free.
Rocky Road vegan froyo: The newest addition to Yoga-urt’s flavor line-up is vegan, kosher, all natural, probiotic, hand-crafted and more. The chocolate flavor was very rich and had a hint of sweetness from the marshmallow. The vegan mini marshmallows tasted just like the regular ones and had the same soft, spongy texture. Recommended toppings: Chocolate cookies, nuts. Chocolate sauce might make it too chocolatey?
Yoga-urt Echo Park is open from 1 PM – 10 PM this weekend. Birthday Cake flavor is also available for this special birthday weekend. Call ahead for pickup or order online from the Yoga-urt website or for delivery, use Postmates or Grubhub. You can also walk over, look at the menu posted in the window, and call in your order, but customers aren’t allowed inside the shop. Everything is packed for takeout and samples are not allowed.
Don’t forget that you can still help those in need enjoy Yoga-urt by making a donation to Yoga-urt, a Support + Feed partner. Support + Feed has partnered with plant-based restaurants in LA, NYC, and Philadelphia to help struggling plant-based restaurants and coordinate food deliveries to hospitals, first responders, senior centers, homeless centers, women’s shelters and others in need. Support a woman-owned, eco-conscious small business that helps others in need.
Happy 1 year anniversary, Yoga-urt Echo Park! You know I love you!

Fro-yo girl here. It felt like the Yoga-urt Fourth Anniversary Weekend would never get here, but it’s finally here. The anniversary celebration includes (1) a new flavor, Cherry Amaretto, (2) discounted froyo, $1 off at Glendale from 2 PM – 5 PM on July 20 and $1 off at Echo Park from 2 PM – 5 PM on July 21, (3) a compassionate fundraiser for Together Rising, a non-profit that provides emergency relief and long-term help for detained children.
I was also pleasantly surprised to Peaceful Peach, the new flavor introduced at Eat Drink Vegan. It was the first time Peaceful Peach has been offered at Yoga-urt’s shops.
Cherry Amaretto: The pretty purple color makes it the perfect Yoga-urt anniversary flavor. I could see bits of cherry throughout and I could taste the amaretto/almond liqueur. The amaretto flavor wasn’t overwhelming. The cherries tasted fresh and a little tangy. Recommended toppings: Crushed pistachios, chocolate chips
Peaceful Peach: I could see bits of peach. The peach flavor wasn’t super strong because I could really taste the cashew/almond base. It was sweet, creamy, and rich. Recommended toppings: Organic gummy bears
The anniversary celebration continues tomorrow. Go!
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
