Fro-yo girl here. I recently read that San Bernardino no longer has a froyo shop and was inspired by the sad news to look into the history of froyo in San Bernardino. San Bernardino is a city of over 216,000 residents in the Inland Empire region of Southern California, about an hour east of Los Angeles. It’s a good size city in a hot area, so it’s shocking to hear that there is no froyo shop.
It looks like there were four froyo shops in San Bernardino. Tiki Hut and Go Bananz were the oldest ones. Yogurtland was the last one to close.
Froyo shops of San Bernardino:
- Go Bananaz, 1078 E Hospitality Ln, was a self-serve froyo shop that may have been open from 2009-2010.
- Prinkipia Frozen Yogurt, 500 Inland Center Dr., is still listed as a tenant at the Inland Center. The self-serve kiosk seems to have opened in 2016. You would think that the shopping center would keep its website up-to-date. I can’t find much information about the location though. One Google reviewer says the location has closed. If it closed, it may have closed this year. I called the mall and they confirmed that Prinkipia is no longer in business.
- Tiki Hut Frozen Yogurt, 4414 University Pkwy, was a self-serve froyo shop that opened in 2009 and closed in 2014. They had 12 flavors a day.
- Yogurtland, 4235 N, University Pkwy #103, opened in 2012 near Cal State San Bernardino. The shop closed in August 2021. Update: This location REOPENED in 2022!
When a city has no froyo, you know it’s not a place worth visiting.
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Fro-yo girl here. Back in March 2021, I was wondering if some of the temporarily closed Yogurtland mall locations in the Los Angeles area would reopen. Yogurtland Montebello and Yogurtland Century City have reopened. Yogurtland Cerritos remained closed with no updates that I could find. I don’t live near Cerritos but I decided to check out Los Cerritos Center and see what was going on at Yogurtland.
To my surprise, someone was inside Yogurtland Cerritos. Upon closer inspection, I spotted a sign that said re-opening June 1. Finally! Prinkipia Frozen Yogurt in Los Cerritos Center has already reopened and they allow self-serve.
Yogurtland Cerrito’s last Facebook post was in July 2020.

Prinkipia kiosk

Fro-yo girl here. Last June, I wrote about the froyo scene in Glendale, California. At that time, there were five places to get froyo or vegan soft serve and another one in the works, Prinkipia Frozen Yogurt. Prinkipia had planned to take over the Go Greek Yogurt kiosk at the Glendale Galleria. I posted some pictures of the work on the kiosk back in March 2020. The sign for Prinkipia was visible. This was all pre-pandemic though. The Prinkipia signage has been removed and they put a barrier around the kiosk.
Ice ‘n’ Cream has closed. The sign is still visible but if you peek through the gate, you’ll notice they’ve removed everything inside. Ice ‘N’ Cream was an old school snack stand inside Glendale Galleria that opened in 1988. The menu includes fresh juices, gelato, Thrifty Ice Cream, fruit cup, bionicos, smoothies, slushies, nachos, frozen bananas, ICEE, boba milk tea, and frozen yogurt.
Haagen Dazs at the Americana no longer offers froyo. Enjoyer, the gourmet popsicle stand that had froyo popsicles, switched to vegan only pops and closed for good during the pandemic.
This means that there is no froyo at the Americana or Glendale Galleria. There are some soft serve options though: Somi Somi (taiyaki ice cream), Pressed Juicery (vegan Freeze), and McDonald’s.
Outside of the mall area of Glendale, Yoga-urt has renewed its lease in Kenneth Village and Menchie’s has reduced its hours drastically. They’ve been open Friday-Sunday only for months now.
I’d say about 75% of the pre-pandemic mall tenants are still there though some are closed but haven’t cleared out. Some of the closures include Honeyboba, The Pie Hole, Tsujita, and Forever 21. I hope Marugame Udon reopens.

Fro-yo girl here. I reported on the opening and closing of Go Greek Yogurteria in previous posts. Go Greek’s Glendale Galleria location closed last year. The kiosk is still there but it hasn’t been occupied since Go Greek vacated the space. Well, I noticed new signs at the old Go Greek kiosk. The signs are for Prinkipia Frozen Yogurt.
Prinkipia has several self-serve froyo shops open in shopping malls throughout Southern California. They also have boba tea shops that don’t serve froyo.
It looks like they’ll have six flavors of self-serve frozen yogurt like Go Greek had. The kiosk is on the second floor near the center of the mall.
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
