Seoju Ice Ju Strawberry Yogurt Bars Review

Fro-yo girl here. I spied a new Korean yogurt bar at Hmart Koreatown. Seoju Ice Ju Strawberry Yogurt bars are imported from Korea and manufactured by I-Food Co. One pouch contains 6 individually wrapped bars. Each bar is 80 ml. One bar is 130 calories and 4g of total fat. Hmart was selling a package of the bars for $4.99.

* Strawberry yogurt bar: I couldn’t finish the bar because it was sickeningly sweet. The texture was creamy yet icy. There was little strawberry flavor. It just tasted awful. I had to throw the rest of the bars away. No one would want to eat them.

Ingredients: Water, sugar, strawberry syrup, high fructose corn syrup, coconut oil, whey powder, skim milk powder, yogurt powder, locust bean gum, sodium alginate, carrageenan, guar gum, emulsifier, strawberry flavor, yogurt flavor, butter flavor, cellulose gum, salt, citric acid, turmeric oleoresin.

1.5 out of 5 stars

Gugen Frozen Blueberry Yogurt Bar Review

Fro-yo girl here. I spotted Gugen popsicles at the Plaza Market in Koreatown. Gugen bars are distributed by Wang Globalnet and are a product of Korea. Plaza Market had two flavors: Mango (without yogurt) and Blueberry Yogurt for $4.99 a box. One box contains four individually wrapped bars.

Each bar is 2.9 fl oz, 130 calories, 4.5g of total fat, and 20g of sugar. It’s gluten free, probiotic and free of artificial colors.

* Frozen blueberry yogurt bar: The bar smells good – like sweet blueberry yogurt – and that’s what it tastes like. The texture was firm (but not icy hard) and creamy. It really tastes like blueberries; there are even tiny blueberries in it. I could taste the yogurt too. The bar was tangy and very flavorful but pretty sweet (too sweet for me).

Ingredients: Milk, skim milk powder, cultures, milk cream, sugar, corn syrup, glycerin esters of fatty acids, guar gum, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, carrageenan, sodium alginate, calcium sulfate, sodium metaphosphate, potassium citrate, salt, acesulfame potassium, blueberry, blueberry flavor, yogurt powder, passion fruit, water

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Lotte Foods Greek Yogurt Bars Review

Fro-yo girl here. It’s been awhile since I’ve spotted a new Korean frozen yogurt bar but I finally found a new variety, Lotte Foods Greek Yogurt bars. I found one flavor, blueberry, at Zion Market in LA’s Koreatown. The package was $6.99.

One package contains six individually wrapped frozen yogurt bars. One bar is 80 ml with 75 calories and 11g of fat. The bars are manufactured in Korea.

The bar smells nice, like yogurt and it has a small, thin blueberry swirl. The thin white coating is creamy and tastes a bit like sweet white chocolate. The interior is soft and creamy and not too dense – a better than expected texture for a frozen yogurt bar. The interior has a mild, milky flavor and the blueberry swirl adds hints of berry and lemon. The coating has the strongest flavor. The tang is very mild. Overall it’s an interesting creamy sweet treat. I wish it had a stronger yogurt flavor.

Ingredients: Water, yogurt coating (rapeseed oil, coconut oil, sugar, mixed milk powder, lactose), sugar, mixed milk powder (skim milk powder, sweet whey powder), thick fermented milk (milk, sugar, skim milk, lactic acid), blueberry syrup (blueberry, sugar, water, fructooligosaccharide, lemon concentrate), extra oligosaccharide (starch syrup, isomaltooligosaccharide, fructose), processed butter (milk, cream, butter, coconut oil), milk, artificial flavor (yogurt), citric acid, mixed formulation (guar gum, locust bean gum, carrageenan, tamarind gum), emulsifier, greek yogurt powder

As you can see, the list of ingredients is lengthy.

I wonder if it comes in other flavors? Apparently Lotte Foods has a new macaroon ice cream product. I’d like to try it.

4 out of 5 stars.
