Fro-yo girl here. I spotted the Mom’s Products stall at the LaCanada Flintridge Farmers Market. They were selling Greek (strained) yogurt,
hummus, pita, olives, and Mediterranean dips. The Greek labne (aka yogurt) is
made with fat free sheep milk, probiotics, vanilla and fruit. An 8 ounce tub is
$5 or three for $12. In Greece, yogurt is typically made with sheep’s milk.
I spotted the following flavors: Fig, Berries, Apricot, Mango.
* Greek labne with fig: It’s definitely tangy and even slightly
sour but also sweet and rich tasting. It has a sweet cream flavor and a thick
consistency. There are tiny bits of fig. You can taste the vanilla too. It’s
pretty amazing, like a tangy, thick whipped cream. You’ll want to dip your
fruit in it. The fig flavor is pretty faint though.
* Greek labne with berries: The berry flavor is blended into the
sweet, creamy, rich yogurt though I did encounter a whole blueberry. It’s crazy
thick and deliciously tangy. That flavor of sweet cream is wonderful. The
berries in the yogurt are blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.
Why and how is sheep’s milk so much better than other kinds of
milk?
Mom’s Products is based in Stanton, CA and is owned by Ben
Azouz, who moved here from Tunisia. I didn’t find a website for Mom’s or even a
Facebook page (unless it’s the FB page for Mom’s in Orange, CA).
You
know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
