Yogurtland Adds a New Kind of Point System to Real Rewards

Fro-yo girl here. Back in March, Yogurtland offered 30 bonus points for any froyo purchase made on a Monday. I noticed that the fine print said, “Bonus points do not apply towards tier upgrades or yearly points.” On National Tea Day, April 21, Yogurtland’s offer of double points also includes the condition that “bonus points do not apply towards tier upgrades or yearly points.” They’re making it harder to reach the higher reward tiers now. I don't recall ever seeing bonus points that were excluded from tier upgrades or yearly points until this year.

FYI, there are still three reward tiers: Signature, Premium, and Ultimate. Real Rewards hasn’t been the same since they eliminated the Ultimate Cup award in 2021.

New Yogurtland Spring Sticker Sheets

Fro-yo girl here. It seems like Yogurtland introduces new sticker sheets every season (spring, summer, fall, winter) now. I just found new spring sticker sheets that feature the Yogurtland logo, gummy bears, the Yogurtland spoon, Yogurtland cup, Yogurtland boba drink, flowers, and bees. These sticker sheets have a yellow background. They’re complimentary, but you may have to ask for them.

Yogurtland Eagle Rock Remodeled, Price Hike

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland Eagle Rock just underwent a quick remodel (I was told this happened a week ago). The green and white square tiles were removed and replaced with faux wood. The froyo wall has a more colorful logo now and it says From Our Yogurtland Dairy. The light fixtures haven’t changed. They added some shelving behind the toppings counter.

Incredibly, you still can’t get your own toppings at Yogurtland Eagle Rock.

Also, the price also went up, from $0.69/oz to $0.74/oz.

Sneak Peek at Yoga-urt in Granada Hills

Fro-yo girl here. The sign is up at the future Yoga-urt in Granada Hills, the first franchise location. It’s in a brand new luxury apartment building called MODERNO La Granada Hills. I peeked inside Suite A, the future home of Yoga-urt. There was nothing inside. Fingers crossed for an opening this summer!

Shaomei Lemon & Mochi Frozen Dessert Bars Review

Fro-yo girl here. Shaomei, a Taiwanese dessert brand, has been introducing many new popsicle/ice bar flavors. On a recent trip to H Mart in Arcadia, I spotted Lemon & Mochi frozen dessert bars. A 9.9 oz box of four individually wrapped bars was $7.99, regular price. The bars are imported from Taiwan. There’s a picture of a baked lemon tart on the box and on the wrapper.

Shaomei describes Lemon & Mochi frozen dessert bars: “The double lemon taste of lemon ice cream and lemon curd bits are superimposed to create a delicate and slightly sour taste, intertwined with the crispy aroma of lemon biscuit bits and the elegant and slightly sweet taste of white chocolate crispy skin. You can chew the elastic white jade with every bite, perfectly presenting a delicate and delicious taste. An afternoon tea-style ice cream with a chewy taste.” Sounds really good, right?

Lemon & Mochi bar: As a lemon lover, I was very pleased with this bar. It’s excellent in flavor and texture. The thin white chocolate shell is sweet and crispy and it’s studded with crispy biscuit crumbs (the type of crumb that reminded me of Lotus speculoos cookies). I didn’t realize that the crumbs were from a lemon biscuit. I didn’t detect the lemon in the biscuits but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the bar. The interior is lemony yellow. It’s more tangy and sweet than it is sour. And it’s smooth and creamy. The mochi rice cakes are in the center of the bar (the ice cream part). They’re plain, soft, and chewy. The size is similar to the mochi you find at froyo shops.

One 70g bar is 190 calories, 11g total fat, 23g total carbs, 1g protein, and 18g total sugars. It has more sugar than their boba ice cream bars but because the lemon is tangy, it doesn’t seem as sweet.

This is the first time I’ve awarded five stars to a Shaomei bar. I hope to buy more boxes soon.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

5 out of 5 stars.

New Yasso Fruit Bars (Strawberry Chocolate Crunch and Strawberries & Cream) Review

Fro-yo girl here. Yasso introduced three NEW Greek yogurt and fruit bars in late March. The new flavors are Strawberry Chocolate Crunch, Strawberries & Cream, and Creamy Mango. All three flavors feature Yasso’s creamy Greek yogurt and real fruit.

I found two of the flavors at Walmart in Burbank, CA, for $5.23. Pavilions also carries some of the flavors for $6.99, and Instacart has them for $8.09. A box contains four individually wrapped bars. Yasso recommends that you let the bars sit at room temperature for two minutes before consuming. I did allow the bars to thaw but still didn’t find them to be creamy.

Strawberry Chocolate Crunch Bars feature strawberry-flavored Greek frozen yogurt dipped in a crunchy milk chocolate coating. The crunchy bits are quinoa crisps. One bar is 140 calories with 4g of protein. I’ve had the other Yasso Crunch bars, and the chocolate coating is really good. I also enjoyed the milk chocolate coating for the Strawberry Chocolate Crunch Bar. The chocolate coating is thin and crunchy. It does fall off easily. The chocolate coating doesn’t complement the strawberry yogurt as much as it complements the other flavors they offer. The strawberry yogurt part is slightly icy and it doesn’t have enough yogurt flavor or enough strawberry flavor. The strawberries are blended into the yogurt. One bar is 140 calories, 6g total fat, 16g total carbs, 13g total sugars, and 4g protein.

Strawberries & Cream Bars are made with real strawberry Greek yogurt. The strawberry puree is blended into the yogurt. There was an icy edge. The flavor was okay – it didn’t have yogurt tang and it didn’t have enough strawberry flavor either. It was sweet but not crazy sweet. I think it would be better with lowfat or full-fat yogurt. One bar is 80 calories, 0g fat, 14g total carbs, 12g total sugars, and 4g protein.

Yasso bars are all-natural, healthy treats. They’re also gluten-free and kosher.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Noosa Delights Review

Fro-yo girl here. Noosa Yoghurt just launched a new line of snacks featuring creamy Noosa whole milk yoghurt and a sweet bottom layer. The flavors are: Key Lime Pie, Strawberry Cheesecake, Coconut Cream Pie, Brownie Batter. The flavors sound indulgent.

I spotted Noosa Delights at Pavilions in South Pasadena, CA. They were priced at 2 for $4. Each cup is 4.5 oz, smaller than the typical yogurt. It’s also more expensive than the regular Noosa Yoghurt 4.5 oz cup.

Pavilions in South Pasadena had three of the flavors. Coconut Cream Pie was missing.

Key Lime Pie yoghurt: The texture was different – it’s a blended yogurt and was more like a pot set style than the typical Noosa yoghurt. The key lime pie yoghurt was delicious – very tangy and creamy with lots of key lime flavor. I didn’t understand or appreciate the bottom layer, which is a brown gelatin that’s graham cracker flavored. It didn’t look appealing but it tasted fine. Crunchy graham cracker crust pieces would be so much better than graham cracker gelatin. I also wasn’t certain if I should mix the contents or not. I did mix it because I didn’t want to see the brown gelatin. One serving is 190 calories, 8g total fat, 24g total carbs, 21g total sugars, and 5g protein.

Strawberry Cheesecake yoghurt: This was sweeter than the Key Lime Pie but was also blended and had a pot set texture with a layer of graham cracker gelatin on the bottom. I could see bits of strawberry and there was a hint of cream cheese and cinnamon. One serving is 160 calories, 6g total fat, 22g total carbs, 20g total sugars, and 5g protein. I preferred the Key Lime Pie flavor. The strawberry cheesecake tasted too sweet (even though it has less sugar).

Noosa Delights yoghurt is tasty, because Noosa is so good, but the graham cracker bottom is strange. I’d rather have regular Noosa, unblended.

4 out of 5 stars.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Yogurtland Burbank Opens After Remodeling

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland in Burbank, California, closed for remodeling from March 25 – March 27. I visited to see how the remodel turned out. The tiny square green tiles that adorned the wall of froyo machines and the toppings counter have been removed and replaced with faux wood laminate. The green wall by the toppings bar was also replaced with faux wood laminate.

The froyo wall has a more colorful logo now and it says From our Yogurtland dairy. Yes, Yogurtland has its own dairy.

The light fixtures haven’t changed. Mostly, the green has been removed and replaced with faux wood laminate and new signs were installed.

You still can't get your own toppings! Why....

I noticed a few Yogurtland locations have recently been remodeled, such as the one in Arcadia, which was remodeled in January of this year. It looks similar to the one in Burbank.

New Yogurtland Spring Toppings: Strawberry Heart Jelly & Lychee Star Jelly

Fro-yo girl here. I tried Yogurtland’s new spring flavors last week, Strawberry Matcha and Milk & Honey. But the new spring toppings weren’t available at the time of my visit. Well, I found the new toppings at Yogurtland in Tustin, CA.

Lychee Star Jellies are pale white and star-shaped. Strawberry Heart Jellies are small red heart-shaped jellies. I tried the Strawberry Heart Jellies and they tasted a bit like lychee. Anyway, they’re firm in texture. I found the flavor to be artificial. But the jellies are cute.

Golden Spoon Grand Opening in Tustin

Fro-yo girl here. I attended my first froyo shop grand opening of 2024 today, April 7, at Golden Spoon in Tustin, California. Golden Spoon was founded in Tustin in 1983 by Jeff Barnes, so it’s nice to see it return to its place of origin.

For the grand opening, guests were treated to free minis (up to two flavors, with toppings) from 12 PM – 1 PM. Choose from ten froyo flavors a day. There was one non-dairy and one no sugar added option offered today. I also spotted milkshake machines, though I didn’t see shakes on the menu today. The number of toppings offered was typical for a froyo shop. There were a few warm sauces offered.

Prices: Mini ($4.75)/ Regular ($5.75)/ Large ($6.75)/ Quart ($15.50)

The mini was a generous size and the yogurt texture was smooth and thick. The shop had a soft opening last week. It looked new and clean inside.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Menchie’s April Flavors & Double Smiles Promotion on Tuesdays

Fro-yo girl here. It’s a new month and time for new featured flavors from Menchie’s. Hershey’s Chocolate Cake Batter froyo is back by popular demand. This rich flavor was first introduced in June 2022. It’s made with no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, and no high fructose corn syrup.

The new flavor, Vegan Meyer Lemon Sorbet, is made with no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, and no high fructose corn syrup. It’s also gluten-free. It tastes like a tangy lemonade, so it’s a nice, refreshing flavor for the spring. Recommended toppings: Sour Patch Kids and Skittles.

Featured flavors are available at participating stores for a limited time only.

Also, this month guests who scan the Menchie’s app on Tuesdays will earn double smiles. There are FIVE Tuesdays in April! When you reach 50 smiles, you’ll get $5 of free froyo in your account.

New Yogurtland Spring Froyo Flavors: Strawberry Matcha and Milk & Honey

Fro-yo girl here. Yogurtland just released two new seasonal froyo flavors for the spring, Strawberry Matcha and Milk & Honey.

Milk & Honey froyo is described as “the harmonious blend of creamy vanilla enhanced with the sweetness of honey.” It’s nonfat, gluten-free, and made with real honey. I didn’t taste the vanilla, but I could definitely taste the honey. It was fine but I wasn’t really feeling it since there was no yogurt tang. I prefer Yogurtland’s Honeycomb Tart froyo which they introduced back in 2011. I haven’t seen it for over 10 years, sadly. Recommended toppings: granola, fresh berries.

Strawberry Matcha froyo is described as, “bright, fresh strawberries combined with the earthy notes of Matcha create this blissful flavor.” It’s nonfat, gluten-free, and made with real strawberries and matcha. When I first tasted it, I could really taste the strawberry. The more I ate, the more I could taste the matcha. It’s nicely balanced so you can taste both and the matcha isn’t bitter. I know strawberry matcha is a popular drink, but I haven’t had one that I really enjoy. The strawberries tend to be too sweet. I prefer Strawberry Matcha froyo. Recommended toppings: strawberries, Nilla wafers, and mochi.

Featured flavors are available for a limited time at participating locations, while supplies last.

Update: I also learned that Strawberry Mango Sorbet is back and it was named the official "Flavor of the Year." And there are new toppings that I haven't seen yet, Lychee Star Jelly and Strawberry Heart Jelly.

There are also two exclusive online treats, the Strawberry Mango Burst and the Dirt Cup. The Strawberry Mango Burst cup features Strawberry Mango Sorbet and topped with fresh strawberries and mango bubble burst. The Dirt Cup has a chocolate base flavor topped with cookies and cream crumbles and sour gummy worms. Both are available exclusively online at yogurtland.com or through the Yogurtland app.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Jeni’s New Punk Stargonaut Collection Flavors (Includes Two Frozen Yogurt Flavors)

Fro-yo girl here. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams just introduced a new ice cream collection, Punk Stargonaut. It’s inspired by a distant galaxy. The flavor collection includes Cosmic Bloom, Nebula Berry, Purple Star Born, and Supermoon. I believe the first three flavors are new and the first two are made with yogurt (so they’re frozen yogurt).

Jeni’s scoop shops were also handing out eclipse glasses with purchase.

Cosmic Bloom froyo:
This flavor seemed popular. A lot of people ordered it while I was there. It’s described as “citrusy like a mandarin, refreshing like a kiwi, and punchy like passion fruit.” It tasted like tart floral peaches. It was sweeter but still tangy.

Nebula Berry froyo: This flavor is described as “Tart like a blueberry and vibrant like a raspberry with an elderflower fragrance.” It definitely tasted like tangy berries and I could detect a bit of the elderflower scent. It’s actually quite sweet but also very tangy.

Both flavors were super flavorful, thick, and rich.

Purple Star Born: Made with cultured buttermilk, Purple Star Born is Jeni’s first grape-flavored ice cream. It’s described as “reminiscent of Concord grape and puckery-like blackcurrants. Intensely juicy!” It was also tangy and intense.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
