IFYA’s Summer Froyo Flavors Contest, Win 4 Pints of Froyo from Jeni’s

 

Fro-yo girl here. Time for a summer froyo contest from the International Frozen Yogurt Association! This year, the prize is a shipment of 4 pints of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams shipped to your door. We’ve selected the froyo flavors for you: Sunshine, Strawberry Buttermilk, Lemon & Blueberries Parfait, and Watermelon Taffy.* Jeni’s ships nationwide.

Jeni’s makes frozen yogurt with fresh cultured buttermilk and yogurt sourced from by a family dairy in Ohio. FYI, the Sunshine flavor is described as tasting like “sunshine on a cloudy day.” It’s a muted grey color but tastes tropical - like “sun-kissed lemon and sweet-tart tangerine with radiant passion fruit.” Jeni’s is a Certified B Corporation; they’ve been endorsed for meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Here’s how to enter:

Think of one froyo flavor (it could already exist or be something you dreamed up) that best captures the spirit of summer. We’re looking for something creative and fun. Tell us your summer flavor in the comments section of one of our contest posts on Instagram (@froyoassociation), Facebook (@froyoassociation), or Twitter (@froyogirl). Alternative method of entry by email: Send your summer froyo flavor idea to info@internationalfrozenyogurt.com by midnight PST on July 20, 2022.

You can enter as many times as you'd like.

The winner will be announced on Instagram and Twitter on or before July 27, 2022. If the winning entry was submitted via email, the winner will be notified by email.

Loving Cup Opens in the Marina/Cow Hollow, San Francisco

Fro-yo girl here. The old Pacific Puffs location on Union Street is the home of the fourth location of Loving Cup, the SF based rice pudding and hand churned froyo specialist. They opened on July 29, 2017. The new location is directly across the street from Michaelis Wine & Spirit, which also sells frozen yogurt. It’s interesting that years ago, Union Street Coffee Roastery had froyo too, so three of the four shops on the corner of Union and Fillmore had froyo at one point in time.

Each cup of froyo is hand churned to order with the customer’s choice of mix ins to create a truly custom flavor. First you choose the base (vanilla, chocolate or vegan) and pick your mix ins (fruit, candy, sauces, almond butter, peanut butter, cookies, Nutella, sprinkles, nuts, cookie dough) or opt for one of their preselected favorite combinations (e.g., Brian Boitano, Dirty Hipster, The Dude Abides). The frozen yogurt is all natural, probiotic and nonfat. It’s made with grassfed milk. The vegan base is made with bananas. The machine combines your frozen yogurt with your mix ins.

Prices: Small $4/ Medium $5/ Large $6/ Pint $8, add a cone or waffle bowl for $1.25. The first mix-in is free, extras are 75 cents each. The cones and bowls looked housemade.

The shop is cute and small with white tiles and benches by the window. It’s a to go/takeaway kind of place. They no longer have the paper loyalty cards but they still do have a loyalty program. Most people seem to go there for froyo, but they also have their rice puddings.

If you’re a flavorista, submit your favorite froyo flavor creation on Instagram, @lovingcupsf #MyLovingCup. A new winner will be chosen every month and every time someone orders your flavor from the Union Street location, you’ll get 50 cents.

IFYA Contests Conclude, Winners Selected

Fro-yo girl here. The winners of the two International Frozen Yogurt Association contests have been selected. 

Far Out Froyo Flavors Contest

In the Far Out Froyo Flavors contest, frozen yogurt fans were invited to share their most creative and appealing frozen yogurt flavor ideas from July 4 – July 18, 2017. Each eligible entry was judged for originality, appeal and practicality.

The winning flavor, White Peach Oolong Tea frozen yogurt, was submitted by @xtracetracex on Instagram.

The sweet prize package included a froyo tote bag, Miniso nap pillow, Pressed Juicery x Sugarfina Green Juice gummy bears, Sugarfina Bear-y Smoothie bears, Miniso black coin purse, Miniso lips mini pan, Daiso popsicle pencil case, Miniso notebook, and a Livework pen & pencil set.

Susan Linton, President of the IFYA said, "We created this contest in honor of the IFYA's fourth anniversary. Our creative frozen yogurt flavor contests in the past were for frozen yogurt shops. This year we wanted to give frozen yogurt fans the chance to share their creative frozen yogurt flavor ideas with us. We were inspired by the fact that far out frozen yogurt flavor ideas can come from anywhere. We think it’s important for the frozen yogurt industry to stay innovative and open to new ideas.”

Linton added, “We received great flavor ideas. The winning flavor stood out. It’s a flavor that we haven’t seen before. White peach oolong tea frozen yogurt sounds like a complex, light, refreshing, and fragrant flavor. Imagine the different notes from the tea and the white peach. It sounds like a flavor we would love to try.”

Menchie’s Num Noms Photo Contest

For the Menchie's Num Noms photo contest, frozen yogurt fans were invited to submit photos that featured Menchie’s and Num Noms on Instagram from July 19, 2017 – July 27, 2017.

The cutest photo contest winner, @db_pottery, won a limited edition Menchie’s Sweet Friends Num Noms starter pack. The Sweet Friends starter pack is available exclusively at Toys"R"Us stores nationwide and online beginning July 2017 for $9.99. Num Noms features food based collectible, scented characters. The line was launched in December 2015 and it now has over 80 licensing partners, 400 characters and 50 scent variations.

Susan Linton, President of the IFYA said, "We created this contest to highlight the partnership between MGA Entertainment and Menchie’s, which included the “Smell So Delicious” makeover of Menchie’s locations in the US, Num Noms cup designs and the Sweet Friends Num Noms starter pack. Announcing the Winners of the Creative Froyo Flavor Awards

Fro-yo girl here. The people have spoken and the best creative frozen yogurt flavor is…Strawberries & Cream from Yotopia in Iowa City. Thai Iced Tea from Yogurt Hut (in Oregon) captured second place in the #CreativeFroyoFlavorAwards. Both flavors sound delicious and unique.

Strawberries & Cream is a classic combination and a traditional English dessert. Yotopia’s Strawberries & Cream froyo is a truly local creation, made by Country View Dairy with dairy from Iowa cows.

The International Frozen Yogurt Association (IFYA) and FrozenDessertSupplies.com launched the first “Creative Froyo Flavor Awards” contest in June 2014 to find the best creative froyo flavors. Frozen yogurt shops across the country were invited to submit their original, creative frozen yogurt flavors. Next, a panel of frozen yogurt experts from the IFYA, FrozenDessertSupplies.com and Nanci’s Frozen Yogurt, selected the top 5 flavors based on creativity and appeal. These flavors were posted on the IFYA FB page and the online public vote determined the two winners.

Creative Froyo Flavor Awards Continues, Enter Your Flavors by July 15
