Various Fro-yo Shop Closures

Fro-yo girl here. I've added to the fro-yo graveyard list. The list is much longer now than it was at the beginning of the year.

Yogurt Bees finally closed (I say finally because I was surprised they managed to stay open as long as they did). Adding tapioca drinks and expanding the menu didn't save the business.

L'Amour Frozen Yogurt in Palo Alto posted a sign saying that they were closed while the building is under renovation. Will they reopen? Their Facebook page doesn't say. I can't imagine that they do half the business they used to with Yogurtland down the street. Also, they no longer maintain their website, lamourfroyo.com, so it seems doubtful that they will reopen as L'Amour Frozen Yogurt. Maybe they'll turn into an Asian crepe place.

You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.

Future Fro-yo Shop Picture: Yogurtland Palo Alto

Fro-yo girl here. Yes, it's true...I spotted the Yogurtland Coming Soon sign at the Modernbook shop on University Avenue. While Palo Alto has plenty of quality fro-yo, it lacked a good self-serve fro-yo place (L'Amour Frozen Yogurt is expensive and inferior). It looks like the sign hasn't been there for long. I'm still reeling from the closure of Satura Cakes, so seeing Yogurtland is on the way picks up my spirits. It's going to be even more difficult to pick which fro-yo shop to go to in Palo Alto.

Story about L’Amour Frozen Yogurt in Paly Voice

Fro-yo girl here. Paly Voice is the online site for Palo Alto High School Journalism. The site has quite a few fro-yo shop reviews, including the most recent one on L’Amour, the first self-serve shop in Palo Alto: http://voice.paly.net/view_story.php?id=8518

It’s a flattering review but seriously, 47 cents an ounce is not a low price. That’s about as high as it gets for self-serve fro-yo and their fro-yo isn’t special. If a decent, lower priced, self-serve place opened in downtown Palo Alto (e.g., Yogurtland, 30 cents an ounce), I’m sure L’Amour wouldn’t last long.
If you’re craving sweet fro-yo, you can get a better deal at Yumi Yogurt.
