Fro-yo girl here. In the past few years, I’ve noticed that local Asian markets have been carrying a wider variety of Chinese popsicles. Popsicles seem more popular than ice cream pints. I’m not sure why. The flavors and shapes of these imported popsicles are so intriguing.
TaoQi peach ice cream looks like Chinese peaches. It seems to be popular on TikTok. Some popsicles are shaped like animals, buildings, landmarks, flowers, and clothing. Some are even sold individually! Flavors include grape green tea & cheese, peach & oolong, taro, hawthorn, grass jelly, mango sago pomelo, etc. And yes, I've seen froyo ice pops/popsicles, but they're the standard popsicle shape,
I bought a coconut ice pop, imported from China, from 99 Ranch Market. It was under $1.79 for one popsicle. The popsicle looked like four round balls and the top ball had the face of a dog (or bear?). The popsicle was very firm and icy. It had bits of coconut. It was a bit too sweet but cute and inexpensive. It seemed to melt too fast too (and it wasn’t a hot day). I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Many cultural sites (e.g., the Great Wall, Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City) in China are now offering customized ice pops and yes, these are popular with tourists. It’s become popular to post pictures of these popsicles on social media. I wonder who is making these elaborate popsicle molds?
