Bonjour yogurt is “delicately handmade by Chef Kady” and most varieties only contain yogurt, fruit and probiotics. No preservatives, thickeners or refined sugars are used. Each package is 10 oz. One tub is $5 or you can get 3 for $12 or 4 for $16. Credit cards are accepted.
The yogurt comes in a wide variety of flavors, including coffee, quince, cherry, white cherry, boysenberry, honey, dates, fig, ginger, rose, pineapple, caramel, cranberry, etc.
According to an article I found about Bonjour, the yogurt used to be made with sheep’s milk. They now seem to use cow’s milk. I was told that it was strained for three days. The texture and consistency are similar to Greek yogurt.
* Carrot yogurt: quite sweet (naturally), super thick and creamy with small carrot slivers, the carrots were still firm and tasted fresh, very nice
* Rose yogurt: the rose/floral taste is present but not overwhelming, the yogurt itself is thick, rich and creamy, plus naturally sweet
* Ginger yogurt: Very intense fresh ginger taste, might be overwhelming unless you really like ginger
Bonjour Yogurt isn’t quite as rich as Aris and it doesn’t have that cream aftertaste but it is still thick and rich. It’s surprising how sweet yogurt can be without added sugar. Bonjour also is a bit more sour than Aris though it’s not that sour.

It's pretty good but I regret to inform you that it was MUCH better when it was made with Sheep's Milk. The texture was creamier, the flavors were balanced against more natural sweetness and the digestive properties blew other yogurts out of the water. It preserved well, too. I would buy about 15 every two weeks, great flavors, most of which they still have thankfully. My only disappointment is that they didn't tell us about the change from sheep's milk to cow's milk (I had to figure it out by tasting it and then asking), and also the price did not come down. Let's face it, cows produce more milk, are easier to milk and for other reasons their milk is less expensive. This would be like me selling a leather handbag to you for $300 and then when you came back I tried to sell you a polyurethane one for the same price. At any rate, it's good yogurt but it used to be great yogurt.

I bought it at Riviera Village Farmer's Market, and I love it (especially Coconut), but I'm sure it's got to be high in calories and fat. Nothing this good could be good for you. But, a tablespoon on my Flax and granola was yummy.

Brother's is also a better alternative to Ari's when it comes to dips; prices and containers make more sense at both Bonjour! and Brother's, and also the salesman have better work ethic.

ReplyDeleteSeems like we need to stop buying from this vendor. I was also charged $6 per tub at Kaiser Fontana's Farmer's Market last Friday. It was $23 for 4 tubs. The fast talking salesperson said it's expensive because of the "high quality ingredients." It's yogurt, and it's not that much better than grocery store European style yogurt.
ReplyDeleteI worked for Bonjour, the owner adds sweetener like Stevia to some of the yogurts and doesn't specify that on the container, we once only used sheep's milk but the owner Mehdi, found cow's milk was cheaper, he still had us marketing it as sheep's milk even though it wasn't until a manager of a farmers market was talked to because someone who bought his yogurt got sick. He had to change it to "Cow's milk" on the label. The manager is shady, he treats his employees like garbage, he doesn't mind lying to the customer, he told me many times to make up whatever sells the yogurt. He is a crook
ReplyDeleteAnother thing, the venders make up prices. A lot of his venders are pocketing money so charge people more. The yogurts are supposed to be 13 for three. The manager Mehdi has told us all to do whatever we need to to take the customers money. He lies to the market managers and has us lie to the consumer and market manager. I also don't believe the ingredients are what he says they are. Knowing for a fact he adds stevia to some without adding that to the label. I noticed labels figuring less ingredients so we could compete with healthier yogurts. Although not changing ingredients. Don't support Bonjour! I promise you you don't know what you're eating. He always markets his yogurt as fresh daily but we sold days old yogurt regularly and he would tell is to market it as fresh. That's why you'll never see a date label on the containers.

It was amazing, but am sure was probably half my calorie allotment (so now I'm looking for calorie information).

I make my own so I was wondering how it got its sweetness without any sweeteners. I saw that they use honey and yet that was not on the label either. I agree that this product is a little shady and if you have any allergies, I would stay away from this one.

ReplyDeleteHi all so I was looking into this yogurt brand because I am on a low carb diet for health reasons and I was blown away on how they could capture such sweetness in there yogurt without added sugar. This is the only site I can find that isn’t just a farmers market with one person saying we love this addition to our market. Let me explain what I have observed and you can make your own decision. I go to the market with my little ladies and my wife every Saturday without fail my wife worked there for years and we have been going for at least 10 years. There is a great community here and we are good at weeding out the bad apples (ones with pesticides on them;) Anyways Bonjour showed up in the last year and I tried his product and I was blown away for reasons stated above. When I tried it he said that there was no added sugar at all. I couldn’t believe it because it was so sweet so asked if there was added sweetener he assured me that there wasn’t any. He even went as far as to tell me that the lactose in milk after being cultured is what is causing the sweetness. Well I was hooked I bought 2 sheep’s milk vanilla every week for a long time. I won’t get it to the price issue which is whole other issue. Well once I went and they were out of sheep’s milk so I got the cows milk. Well it was incredibly sweet so I went back next week and asked why he told me again that lactose in cows milk is more sugary. Ok well I don’t know much so I got my normal sheep’s milk. One was incredibly sweet just like the remaing cows milk and one was like the other sheep’s milk I had bought previous. So first I thought well maybe they mislabeled. But know it seems I am getting the sweeter 90 % of the time. This was my first red flag. So I jumped on line and started searching for information. Can anyone help me find there Facebook, Instagram, website, and or anything pertaining to the existence of this Company. There is nothing on there pacakging and nothing on there sign at the market. The only information we are given is verbal so they aren’t really committing to anything they say verbally. This is very concerning. I will not be buying this product anymore until I can find any additional information backing what they are claiming verbally.

ReplyDeleteSo Aris , Bonjour , and/or now Brothers... these companies all carry the exact same product and have the same process to "making them". Bottom line, they dont make any of the yogurt like they claim. As far as calories, there's over 400 calories per container. This stuff is made from whole cows milk and yes they all add extra sugar for taste. Please be careful on what you buy at farmers markets. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. They will make up any story to sell sell sell. "Low on sugar" "all natural" "good for you" all just a few of the lies to sell their over priced products.

All of these "creamy yogurt", Greek yogurt, kefir, kefir cheese , and most recently I've seen labneh are all the same product. All with tons of extra sugar and all from cows milk.

ReplyDeleteI left out some important information. I have several autoimmune problems & an allergy to GMO sweeteners including regular sugar. The last time I had more than my usual teaspoon full of Bonjour yogurt. I was in pain for 3 days (less each day) & had bloating and digestive problems. Previously the teaspoon full caused some problem but I didn't realize it was the Bonjour yougurt. I eat a very simple diet & low carb, no gluten, no sugar diet. I only use organic stevia. I keep track of my food daily & can eliminate any other causes. Bonjour has to be held accountable for their product. I will be contacting market managers. Please do the same if you have a problem with them.
For the record charged $7 for Sheep's Milk & Kefir (8 oz) and $6 for Cow's Milk with $1 off for any 3.
I read many of the comments on this blog. I am disappointed at how many people are complaining, without any suggestions of solutions. People who have been eating a lot of the yoghurt for a very long time without issue...now with a list of complaints! Doesn't make rational sense.... If you don't like/approve of a product....then surely its appropriate to just move on. Not waste time and energy tearing the business down. Its clearly a one man show. So he's not going to have the budget or expertise of a big commercial yoghurt manufacturer....Nor the chemical ingredients either...think about it! I am certain the man works very very hard. And the man could do with a few lessons in business management. However, lets face it, the product is rich and smooth, has a wide range of flavors...many flavors i haven't seen elsewhere. And is delicious. Apart from one comment by a woman complaining that she had stomach upset "For 3 days, as a result of eating 1teaspoon of the yoghurt."...okay then..there are no others as to health related issues.

However a very disgruntled former employee's post stated "they use stevia as a sweetener" By the anger in her words, i have no doubt that she would have mentioned it if there were other sweetness added. And the pricing....i saw that the guy hires people to sell the yoghurts...so im guessing they buy wholesale and sell via the markets at whatever price they can. RE Nutritional contents: instead of berating him...Im sure a polite email/call suggesting that he needs that on his label...and even better a person or company who could help with the nutritional label....For my part, Im going to keep eating it...cows, sheep, honey, stevia, $1 or $3 more or less...I know its delicious is a treat, not something to fill up on...or my waist line will get blurry. Finally: people please ...lets all apply the Golden Rule before we write 'harmless comments"...they can destroy a business someone is working hard to build.

ReplyDeleteI am the person who had reaction to " more than 1 teaspoon". Please note that before posting I contacted Bonjour via text message as as blog online said no calls. I also e-mailed the e-mail posted on their sign at a market 2 times. I was informed by market sellers that they think it is sugar & some said agave & or dates, also that some flavors has more than others. The fact is the list of ingredients is incomplete. The fact is they do not respond. And yes I moved on and no longer purchase the product. It is a free country, if you wish to purchase the mystery product & are fine with it, enjoy. However please do not lecture those of us who believe in honesty, truth in advertising & following the state law that requires ingredients to be listed.

ReplyDeleteMany Farmers Market vendors lie, cheat, deceiving, and play price games. It’s the facts. Many farmers are buying fruits at downtown fruit markets taking off the label and saying it’s organic to mAke money from lying. And of course any package vendors without nutritional label facts are lying as well because if they label the truth who would buy ? Vendors go to farmers market to make a quick buck. They don’t want to be in stores because liability and regulated restrictions. I used to work the farmers market is I see and hear many deceiving vendors.

ReplyDeleteI sell bonjour yogurt and I’ve been selling it for about five years. My children sell it as well how my boss treats, his employees or not is none of my business nor is it why I am on here when me and my children sell the yogurt people ask us a lot of questions about it and I sell it as honest as I can. I do not know what is in it exactly I could only say what’s on the label, but I do know that they add Stevia water or Stevia leaf honey molasses apart from that I do not know what is added. I always tell people that if sugar is an issue, I would recommend to stay away from the flavored yogurt and to try either the Nutts or the plane the ginger or the rose. I also remind people that I am not a dietitian and I do not know nothing about dietary restrictions and I believe most of the people that work for the company don’t as far as the price it can vary depending on the fees that the markets charge some farmers markets charge a set fee, some farmers market charge, depending on the volume that we sell the yogurt used to be three for 13 when I started working for the company when the pandemic hit prices changed think yogurt started going for three for 15 the nut flavors do cost more because it cost our boss more for the nuts. I’ll sell them three for 15 either way because since I sell at a high volume it’s easier for me than to be keeping track if any of you ever want to buy for me I sell at the Melrose farmers market on Sunday, Plummer Park on Monday and Downey on Saturdays. I am proud in what we do. I love this product it’s not for everybody that is why we allow you to try and I always tell my customers check your blood. That way you know at the end of the day no matter where you shop at it’s your responsibility farmers market we do not have to give all the ingredients because we are smaller operations. It cost a lot to get one type of yogurt checked out we sell so many flavors it would be impossible for our boss to get every single flavor analyzed as far as how he has treated other employees. I cannot say as I do not know there’s so many of us there’s so many markets, and there’s so many people who love this, yogurt and I know a lot of people are comparing it to store-bought yogurt store-bought yogurt is not what they claim it is

ReplyDeleteI have yet to see the nutrition facts listed on the container. I'm diabetic and would love to see what type of sweetener is used. It lists 3 ingredients. Added sugars? Stevia? Sugar alcohols? All the comments that are left are also wanting to see nutrition facts.

Taste it, and if you like it, keep buying it. I mean, somebody wrote that they added Stevia...like it was against the law or something. Really? Also, side note; if one teaspoon of "unqualified" yogurt turns your whole digestive tract inside out then you should probably do one of two things. 1. Make your own, or 2. Stop eating yogurt...I mean are you really going to miss one teaspoon...of anything?? Thanks, peace out!

There’s about a quarter of a cup of fruit added for the flavors with fruit.
No refined sugar added except for white chocolate and the Oreo cookie from the cookie only. Sweetened with either the fruit or with honey. 2 have stevia water- Coconut and Apple.
Very pricey at Huntington Park farmers market $7 or 3x20. That’s sad but the administration of the farmers market don’t have any control on prices and quality product. Vendor can said wherever they want about the quality and nobody corroborate that information

It seems the developer "Chef Kady" was able to admit to using a range of sweeteners (date, molasses, Stevia, and honey), but the reporter still didn't feel like she got the full picture. The report also mentions that there is a food testing lab that could confirm the ingredients, but the cost would be ~$250-$900 per sample/flavor. Recently, I have found some strange little black chunks in a couple of the flavors...I'm pretty sure they were cardamom seeds, but they were never there before. It gave me pause in terms of quality control (it was no fun biting down into whole cardamom seeds while trying to enjoy the carrot flavor--but at least they weren't rocks like I thought at first!). Any way, I do really enjoy the taste of this product, but I stay away from the vendors that charge more, and am buying a lot less of it for the many reasons mentioned here.

ReplyDeleteIt's October of 2024 and there are STILL no nutritional facts on these yogurts. I bought these at a farmers market and became skeptical of the short list of ingredients and how SWEET they are. I think it's time this product gets tested and we find out once and for all what's in this stuff. There is just no way it's as healthy as they claim. Reminds me of the fat free, sugar free, frozen yogurt bullshit.
