Mochi Update: Samjin Yogurt Mochi
Fro-yo girl here. I dropped by Kukje to look for mochi balls and I spotted another Korean brand (Dae Doo Food Co. is the most common brand used by fro-yo shops), Samjin. They call their mochi balls “yogurt mochi.” Kukje had the plain variety for $4.99 a package. The Samjin mochi bits aren’t as uniform in shape and size as the Dae Doo ones and they’re sweeter. If you want to try them before buying a bag, they have them at Tutti Frutti in Danville. I prefer the taste of Dae Doo's mochi.
P.S. Kukje didn't have the rainbow mochi balls.
You know you love me. X0 X0, fro-yo girl.
* KUKJE: 2350 Junipero Serra, Daly City, CA
* TUTTI FRUTTI: 37 Railroad Ave, Danville, CA
They also have it at the Cefiore Westfield SF location.
ReplyDeleteThank you anonymous mochi tipster!
ReplyDeleteRight now, Cefiore Westfield SF are not using that brand. They are using Dae Doo Food. I guess it just varies on what their distributor delivers them.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI went to Kukje last night and could not find the mochi at all. Where was it located? I asked 2 employees and they didn't really know either. I would love to get some..
By the rice cakes in the refrigerated section (by the produce department) - they had quite a few packages.
ReplyDeleteThe tofu is also in that refrigerated case - enter the store and turn left, when you see the produce department, turn right. To your right is the refrigerated section with rice cakes and tofu.
ReplyDeletethanks, i actually ended up making my own.. but i will definitely try looking at kukje
ReplyDeleteI tried going to kukje and still couldn't find them after I followed your instructions.. ? Maybe they keep running out :(
